Sounds like you are still on the “green planet” Greg. There is another planet to explore after you reach the core. Collect 100 plasma (yes, it’s a bit grindy) and you can “jump” to the “red planet” where gems and plasma are more plentiful. This game could warrant a hard badge (at least a second medium, but I’d vote for a hard badge based on the amount of time the game consumes to get that done) for fully upgrading the highest hull available (since that is an achievement in the game); the candy drill is unlocked once you complete all in-game achievements for the “red planet.”

Thanks stardancer32 — I had actually just figured that out. I thought that “jump” meant warping to the bottom of the green zone; I didn’t realize there was a whole separate red zone.
So I’m having fun with the game again now! I think that having a hard badge for unlocking the candy drill might be fun, but I’m a little iffy about the “Agile red” and “Fast red” achievements that are required for doing this. (Edit: Never mind, I didn’t realize that all blocks count for “Fast red” — that’s actually really easy.) I’m pretty close to being able to do it myself, so I just want to confirm that it’s not too frustrating before locking in my decision.
Anyway, so with this new development I’m going to plan Reach the Core badges for tomorrow for real this time. Please feel free to continue to weigh in with name suggestions, or any thoughts about having a hard badge for unlocking the candy drill.

At least have it involve rock candy! :P

Agreed Greg. A Hard Badge for unlocking candy Drill is in order (no name suggestions yet). I’ve been playing this for roughly 10-12 hours (maybe a bit more) and I only have a few in-game achievements left before I’ll have the candy drill.
I would still encourage a second medium badge entitled something like “Plasma Please” for fulling upgrading the Hornet Hull in the game; I found that getting to that point in the game was a significant milestone in play — the suggested badge name is because the game awards 1,000 plasma for that achievement and is the only in-game achievement to award plasma (I think).

I saw people complaining on comments about an achievement that was extremely frustrating to unlock. Not sure if it was patched, though, I still didn’t play it fully.

Maritos, that achievement is an unrelated one that has been temporarily removed from the game – it required reaching the core without ever purchasing a turbo booster, and people (myself included) couldn’t achieve it because they’d bought their first boosters before realizing the achievement even existed.
Greg – “You Know The Drill” had occurred to me, but I thought it (and another one that came to mind, “Core Chore”) were a little too dismissive. I do have one more thought, but I’m still not sure how to massage it into a form that feels like it works – right now the best I’ve done with it is “One For Your Mantle Pierce,” which is just too awkward.

Clearly, unlocking the candy drill should be
**Get Rich or Diet Trying**. :P

I advise against badging the unlocking of candy drill. If you must, I suggest the name “ **Stone Grinder** ” or “ **Grinding Machine** ”.

Unlocking the candy drill takes some work, but it wasn’t nearly as frustrated as I expected. I think it would make a good Hard badge.

I agree that unlocking candy drill would make good hard badge; is the Agile Red achievement working properly to do it? Comments said that the bright yellow/orange things are the only barriers you need to avoid for 500m on the red planet, but the achievement isn’t awarding in-game (happens to be the only one I need) — that will prevent the ability to get the candy drill. I suspect it is just a matter of clarity on exactly what “barriers” mean in the game.
Unfortunately, there is no stat for the hull upgrade I suggested for a badge yesterday so no go there :( Reaching the core is the closest milestone for a medium badge that I see.
EDIT: Agile Red works. Clarity should be added somewhere in game that a barrier includes the purple things spawning bugs and lasers as well as the yellow molten dots in the red planet. You can be hit by lasers, just don’t destroy them; same with purple bug nests — the little bugs can hit you, you just can’t destroy the big nests. Off to add that to game comments :)

Given that the point of reaching the core is to acquire enough energy (in the form of plasma) from the green planet to fuel the ship, how about simply Green Energy? As for the candy achievement, I’ve been trying to think of something concise about dentists and drills, but I haven’t been able to put it together – although I have thought of Candy Corin’ as an alternative. (Still not ideal, but it’s something.) As I typed this, Mine Sweeter also occurred to me – I honestly can’t tell whether that’s a good enough pun or not.

For the Candy Drill, how about **Candy Crushin’ It**?

**Peppermint Swirls in Every Spin.**
Cinnamon Toast Crunch spoof is kind of lame after rereading it though.

Oh, hey, maybe the badge for getting to the magma-plasma core could just be Fiery Drill, or Afire Drill. Somethin’ like that.

I agree; I just finished it. There is a bit of luck involved, and a few moments of frustration, but overall not too difficult or time-consuming. I think I’m going to move ahead with it.

I love Gurren Lagann so much that I [already used this reference](http://www.kongregate.com/games/kupo707/epic-battle-fantasy-2). :(
