This has to be a joke.

See, it’s the slippery slope, it’s Pandora’s box, it’s when you give an inch, they take a mile.

You gotta think big to be successful in life. :D

These are the types of badges I permanently blacklist from the system (probably about half the badges on the site are blacklisted from being automatically selected as badge of the day, even before manual curation).

> That being said, I am leaning toward making the medium badge “recruit 20 crusaders.”
I wasn’t sure if the BotD’s were actually manually curated, but now that I know, I’m not worried about it any more.
As for the “20 crusaders” as medium, I agree it’s better than “finish the first run”. At least I’m too far in the game to restart my game to just “finish the first run” now. :P (There is no hard reset button in the game, so I can’t even do that.)

I played Crusaders for couple of months and its an interesting game because its “genre” kind shifts after first few resets. At first it looks like your usual idle game, pick stuff, upgrade stuff, leave, return after 10 hours, pick new stuff, leave. But once you accumulate some resources (items, power ups) and start going into harder zones it can get pretty active where you’ll constantly shuffle stuff around and use power ups to have “efficient” progression. It also has some timed challenges that are pretty much impossible to do without you actively playing for 1 hour or something like that.
Basically I ended up quitting this game because it was turning more and more into active game while I wanted to idle around.

If I were to draw a venn diagram of launchers and idles
Learn To Fly would not lie in the intersection
Bring on the badges

That’s true. Perhaps while a restriction on idles can be lifted, there should still definitely be a restriction on how long it roughly takes to get the badge. For example like a policy that badges on idles must be able to be completed within a single day or something like that.

But you can’t do the first reset in CotLI in a single day.

Without having completed Ltf3, E-M-H-H might be a good compensation for the lack of new badges.

I’m wondering what does the Best of 2016 Quest looks like. I’m seeing a very large amount of mediocrity and so-so games though Learn to Fly 3 was in good timing. Scarcity of games with 3.8 rating is quiet a sign to quickly define and visualize the 2016 quest. I’m very happy about greg in badging an idle game which was Crusaders of Lost Idols and could even badge all great idle games though greg couldn’t define idle games great. But my point is 3.8 rating is quiet hard to reach nowadays, **may I suggest to drop the rating a little bit?** Despite there are 6 badges this year with 4 games, 2 games in this year and 2 games installed before this year + we are ending up February + the games badged this year are below 4.0 rating + the voting of the quest open up with 18+ games, 8 are locked in and 10 are going to compete through players satisfaction. It seems mediocrity is very much present in the future quest.
Though I expect this will be ignored as I usually post.

**@JayArS2:** I don’t think the rating is the problem. We have still a huge amount of older games which would qualify for badges. I think one part of the problem is that greg is working also on different things. And those super secret black ops reduce the amount of time he has for badges. But that’s just me guessing. :)

I’d rather have E-M-M-H

Currently, the API seems limited, but i’d like to send me some suggestions:
1 – Hit 10 obstacles, Easy(Should be named “Much Yet To Learn” or something)
2 – Beat Story Mode, Medium(No idea how to name this one…)
3 – ???
4 – Get 75 medals, Hard(“Emperor’s New Medals”! :p)
I don’t know what the third one should be, could be another medium badge relating to early post-game content, or maybe one you can get before beating the main campaign. Or it could just be a hard badge, i don’t know.
Also, um… lurker here says hi.

Yeah I sincerely agreed though older games can’t qualify to the quest. Though I still appreciate and honor greg for being loyal and hardworking employee.

**@JayArS2:** Technically you are correct but consider this. For the quest in 2015 we had not only enough games for the quest. We had even enough games to make a contest among high rated games for some of the places in the quest. And I don’t think every game that was eligible to get badges was actually badged.
And even if you were right. Lowering the rating requirement won’t help much if greg is busy teaching quantum physics to tiny hamsters as part of his job. :)
* * *
But since this topic popped up. Would people in here be interested in a **Badge Making Contest** as part of the Anniversary events? Clearly this would need some careful thinking and planing. But we have the time and I’ve seen suggestions in here which were on par with greg’s quality work.

What do you mean by that? Some forum users picking up their favourite game and offering badges for it?
|

We’ve had various threads about favourite games by our favourite Kong-ers and not one badge had came out of it.
Yet another contest won’t help. You’re much better off looking at the those threads instead.

Let me explain a bit what I mean.
Take a look into the future. Somewhere around October for example. Kongregate will turn 10 this year. That’s not a birthday like any other. And we will have to wait for another 15 years for a comparable event.
So we could be content with just making a happy birthday thread. Or we as a community could turn this into something very special. To show the people who have given their best for the last ten years how much we appreciate their work.
**What I see are several events coming from all of the places around Kongregate**. Something that will leave the staff speechless. Something they won’t forget for the rest of their lives.
* * *
The upcoming badges thread has probably the highest admin-user interaction of all Kongregate. So it would be really awesome if we had an event as part of the celebration coming from this specific part of Kong.
And since we have a lot of older games which qualify for badges why not make a contest out of badging some of them. Generally speaking **users would create ideas for badges** (name, description, picture, etc) and some of them would be chosen and implemented.
The details are clearly a decision by greg. But we could already provide alternatives for the specific rules (e.g. which games can the users badge). So he can pick his favorite system. And to be perfectly clear. I have no intention of making a contest which isn’t approved by Kong right from the start. There is no point in starting such a project without the content of the major stakeholder. But on the other hand the Anniversary has a lot of pull. If we hope to make such a contest happen this is probably out best chance.
To get us started I need to know if there is interest in the contest. But I would like to take the **discussion** to a **different thread**. So if you think this is something we as a community should turn into reality you could start for example with [this](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/600152-unofficial-10th-kongregate-anniversary-preparation-thread?page=1#posts-10187176) post and list all the alternatives you can think of.

Wtf is up your bolding Tulrog
And, Jay, wtf, we’re still in January and you’re worrying about Best of 2016??? Even ignoring that, you’re not making absolutely any sense, badges don’t interfere with which games are the Best, lmao.

**@Lebossle:** I’m experimenting with ways how to make my long texts more readable. The bolding is supposed to give you a quick overview on the important parts. Read just the bold parts and you should have an idea what my post is about. And it should be easier to find the parts of my post which are interesting to you.
I’d prefer a color that is less aggressive. But as far as I know we can’t use other colors. And the effect of italics is too weak for people who just want to skim through my text. Not really happy with that myself. But that’s the best I can come up with at the moment. I’m open for suggestions though.

So we’re not even through Q1 of 2016. Woo.
Also, Tulrog, before going all crazy crazy with ideas, you should probably make sure greg would be fine with a badge making contest.

**@Bluji:** That’s the plan. However, I don’t like coming with empty hands. Having a thought out idea with alternative solutions will raise the odds of a “yes”. Especially if he can estimate what sort of work would land on his side of the deal.
In my opinion giving him several options he can chose from is better than asking him “can we have a badge contest” as a first step.

Great game. Medium for completion would fit.
