It’s actually amazing that something which should be a common practice by now is still regarded as a “special event”.

Yeah, this is pretty reasonable, though I’d like to work through some older games first. Like, maybe once every old game above a 4.0 has badges, I’ll start looking more at newer games around 3.7 for badges. Just a thought, anyway — I still have a good number of games in the queue right now.
And of course the top priority is [Learn to Fly 3](http://www.kongregate.com/games/light_bringer777/learn-to-fly-3)! I just completed story mode, and I’m playing through classic mode now. Here are my rough thoughts so far:
Easy: Not sure yet, maybe best speed or item upgrades. Altitude is kind of redundant with the overall goal.
Medium: Complete story mode
Medium: Complete classic mode? (I’m not sure how long this is yet, but I doubt it’d be a hard badge)
Hard: No idea. Something with payload mode? Or that 4th mode that’s still grayed out? Medals? Destroying the moon? A timed run?
I’m seeing that there’s a stat for destroying the moon, but I don’t know how to do this (go really fast?). I’m reluctant to assign a hard badge to anything too grindy, like completing the story mode 4 times. The game isn’t currently submitting any data about medals, but I could request this, and it might make a good hard badge. I could do a hard badge for completing story mode under a certain number of days, but that might be kind of frustrating.
Anyway, I just started working on this today, so I’m still in the early brainstorming phase. If you have thoughts or opinions about what the badges should be, please feel free to share.

A suggestion, Greg: why don’t you work on bringing badges on stuff you’re kinda used to? This way you would reduce your queue. Like a badge on something you already played a lot

Don’t worry about the 4th mode, that is Sandbox Mode and you unlock that after completing the other two modes. (Or using the secret cheat to unlock it for you, but that’s classified info)
For me, Classic & Payload mode wasn’t that hard for me after I knew what kind of stuff I should be buying vs not knowing what to buy in story mode.

Medium badges for story mode and classic mode sound pretty reasonable.
The 4th mode isn’t worth badging (not sure if you want it spoiled, but it should be pretty obvious once you unlock it).
Does the game track how many BP you have? If so, maybe an easy for something like 500 BP (should take a few medals, but shouldn’t be too hard).
Edit: 500 is probably a bit low, since you can get 400 just from the ad-related medals. 1000 might not be too bad, but most of the early medals give small ammounts so I’m not sure.
Maybe a hard for beating the story with a 1 million goal (you can go straight for this version after beating it with the 200,000 goal, so you would only need to beat the story twice rather than 4 times).
Some random names that popped into my head (I’m really bad at this):
•Easy badge for…something: “We have liftoff” (optional ‘Houston’ as a prefix?)
•Medium for completing story: “What goes up…”, “Fly away from home”, “Cloudy with a chance of flightless birds”
•Medium for completing classic: “Back to basics”, “The old way”, “Fly the Right way”

I’d stay away from a timed run for the hard, particularly since it seems like gameplay technique is less involved in LtF3 than the previous games. Medals seem to be the best way to go for the hard, although I haven’t done anything with Payload Mode yet.

Make it to space at max speed and try not to deviate too far from your original launch position. (Purchasing one of the HUDs that includes lateral readout is a big help.)
I think a certain amount of final stage weight (meaning your craft’s weight after using & losing your last booster) might be required as well. It’s been a while since I played the game.

Those are good. “Third Time’s The Charm?” as a badge name for either/or could also be a suggestion, perhaps.

I used the space shuttle & dubstep drives (Because dubstep can break anything) to launch my self out & break the moon. It’s not that hard to do after you beat story mode though since you can load up your game from there.

Earn “X” amount of medals? Definitely not all of them.
Also for completing story mode: “One Giant Leap For Penguin Kind”

The drop in ratings doesn’t seem that unreasonable as Ltf4 is the only new game this month with a 4+ rating (that I’m aware of). However, promise us you won’t start badging those shitty mmos now that some meet the requirements.

In terms of medals, there are:
•60 normal ones (15 categories, and 4 levels of each)
•4 shameless ads
•4 for completing various story modes
•3 for the other modes (classic, payload, sandbox)
•1 for buying bonuses
•4 speedruns
•4 for days of playing
•2 special ones
•and 1 for having everything else.
Thats a total of 83, or 74 if you take out the speedruns and playing for days (and the final one since you won’t have everything). Just tossing these numbers out there.

That still sounds like it’s going to take a while though. Like I completed 1M Altitude story mode and it was just annoying having to spend 5-6 minutes a flight just to get closer and closer to that mark the speed runs though, do give a good estimate on how quickly you can pass the other two modes if your crafty enough.
I would give Payload mode a medium badge too, but if you want to save a badge slot you can always just make it so that you complete payload and classic mode together as a hard badge since 1 Medium + 1 Medium = 1 Hard points wise.

Maybe I’m just playing the game wrongly, but I find the actual gameplay pretty lacklustre. Everything (except the 150 payload) can be done with spearhead and 4 ramjets. Most of the time it’s the only cost-effective way.
The true fun of the game lies in the vast variety of items and its details (especially the explosive). If the API allows, one should have a badge about numbers of unique items owned or packs opened.

E-M-M-H seems good.
Note that all game modes can be unlocked without completing the others first.

I have some other stuff to do today, but I’m going to _try_ to get LtF3 badges live this week or early next. Please keep the suggestions and feedback coming — they’re very helpful, though I still need to play the game more myself before reaching any final decisions.
In the meantime, I’m going to toss up a quick completion badge in [Cube Escape: Birthday](http://www.kongregate.com/games/RustyLake/cube-escape-birthday), so suggest names if you’d like!

I’d suggest either “[Birth in Reverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c5BhXdVBqw)” (or maybe to be clearer, “Birthday in Reverse”) or “Present and Past” (perhaps “The Present and the Past”).

Completion would be a med or a hard? I haven’t played this latest one yet.

**CUBE ESCAPE SPOILERS IN THIS POST!!!**
I should clarify that Cube Escape: Birthday submits the completion stat right when the grandfather shoots the gun and says “Boom, haha” — a little sooner than the actual ending (but only by about 15 seconds, with no meaningful difficulty past that point). So, badge names themed around this particular moment in the game would be especially good.

I had to use the walkthrough for a couple of puzzle in this game. I don’t think I would have figured out how to get the fly with the gum, or using the silver coin to get the gun at the end. I also didn’t figure out the window fog puzzle, but maybe I would have if I spent more time on it. I feel dumb enough about these puzzles that I’m leaning toward making it a medium badge, but then I did have to use a guide, so I don’t know. If I get strong feedback here that it should be a hard badge, I’ll consider it, but otherwise I’m leaning toward medium. I think the only Cube Escape game that’s gotten a hard badge for completion so far ([Case 23](http://www.kongregate.com/games/RustyLake/cube-escape-case-23)) was significantly longer and more difficult than the others, including this one.

Okay then, i barely got in but i already want to ramble hard about the LTF3 badges. Just hope i don’t mess this up. Let’s go.
As someone who played the game for a pretty long time(around 20hrs, i’m way into this game holy crud owo), i believe that the final badge should be 75 achievements. it won’t need you to complete story mode 4 times(just the basic one and the 1m one), and it won’t need the frequent flyer achievements. the total without that would be 76, so 75 would be great because Payload Mode Challenge **might** be frustrating for some. And also because we like rounder numbers. :3
Also, about the second medium, i dunno. i think something different(kinda post-game even like unlocking ten or so different secret items) should suffice, i think classic mode is way too much like story, just another general direction and it just kinda doesn’t even deserve a badge at all IMO.
If you do want to replace it with a quick-run badge(they could coexist, the in-game challenges are really easy once you get down to it :P) beating any mode under a certain number of days won’t be frustrating, it will actually suffer from Pandemic 2 Syndrome because your final time reflects your buying strategy and just about nothing else(if you do collide with a lot of crap or completely mess up your launch in a launch-sensitive strategy you can just refresh the page). It would actually still be awesome though, it would highly recommend testing out all equipment, going for achievement bonuses(the challenge/completed and daily achievements don’t give any perma bonuses, so don’t worry) and even going for unlockables, which is the game’s biggest strength. My time of choice would somewhere around 15 days for 200k story and classic mode, and around 25 days for payload and 1m story(I’d recommend only using the first one though, the others are just-in-case data)
Now, the only problem would be people actually 100% spoiling perfect sequences and such.
So the second medium should either be replaced with post-game content like unlocking 10 unique pieces of equipment or with a somewhat loose hard speedrun badge, both of them as an incentive to understanding the game’s greatest strength, the items and card packs. If you’re scared this might end like Pandemic 2, just put the medium idea instead, no harm no foul. the final badge should be 75 medals, no doubt. :3
