This is big news.
Kongregate is having a population boom.
Last weekend there were about 31,000 users online, and if you check now, you should see at least 34,000+.
It was about 38,000 earlier today.
Kongregate even made about 4 new chatrooms today because of the lack of space.
What do you think is causing this?

It’s most likely because Kongregate is becoming more popular, and more and more people want to come to this site.

Obvious answer for this question is obvious.

It’s getting more popular.

The increase of users isn’t normal… How do you think 7000 people learn about a site in 1 week? and The popularity of Kongregate can’t honestly get that big, especially without advertisements that aren’t noticeable

Kongregate is getting more popular, as it has been said. Why? Because it’s getting many new features, such as the medals system, and it’s weekend, so more people come to Kong than in normal days, and also because the word is spreading.
Oh yes, and weekends have been were always at ~34-35k in the summer vacations, and it’s at ~38-39k now on weekends, it’s really a big leap, but Kongregate is definitely growing exponentially.

A rise of 7000 people doesn’t mean 7000 new people actually signed up. Just simply people coming back to this site to look at all the new stuff. Such as what AioraRox said.

Easily. Also what Ljrules said.

Yeah, Kongregate is growing a lot. It’s been hitting new highs of users online frequently over the past couple of months. I’ve found this particularly strange since I always assumed summer was when sites got their largest activity booms.

But yeah, new rooms are being created all over the place now, which is a good thing. There are still more to come, I believe. All with moderator room owners, so no ‘jimgreer’ rooms yet!

There have been a lot of new features, so new users are joining. If you look at Kongregate five months ago to right now, it’s changed quite a lot in a small time.

Newgrounds is a water gun, Kong is a rifle, Myspace is a grenade gun, facebook is a black hole creator, Soon, Kong will be a balck hole grenade launcher

That’s good news for us. More visitors! This makes Kongregate a larger community which might lead to being the biggest site!

That must be one big water gun then, cause NG has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more users than we do.

Hmm… Popularity. A double-edged sword. Yes, you get more publicity, in turn more demand for features and more money. However, when you swipe, the other blade swipes you. The self-swipe comes from greed and ignorance of your community and meticulous attention to the money. There is a greater chance Kongregate will not become like that, mainly because of its young team. But websites like Myspace and Facebook are run by old people who are just in it for the green.

Being small is good. You know everybody, you can pay attention more, and there is a smaller chance of you going over your head.

How do you think I found out about this site?
OML → The Heist → Kongregate.

Kongregate gives benefits to many games, which lure players from other sites, advertisement, and referrals are what do the thing. And 7000 people didn’t join, rather 7000 more people came online. That doesn’t mean Kongregate isn’t growing a lot, though. Either way, it’s possible…and the numbers fluctuate dramatically, so there really can’t be one, precise judgment.

It’s not just the new features that are making more people come to Kongregate, it’s also Jayisgames and those other guys who get a bunch referrals.

I’m hoping by “those other guys”, you also include OML. I heart that website with all my hard drive.
It introduced me to Kong. :D

Yeah, but that doesn’t have anything to do with “The creator isn’t even 30 yet…”
