The 50 deaths recommendation accounts for an exploit that makes it easy to achieve relatively low death totals. If you ignore the trick (or if it was fixed), I’d raise the threshold to 60-80 deaths. There should be some measure of difficulty to a hard badge, and 80 (or even 60) is doable once you’ve played the game a few times and learned when and where to jump.

Exploits have never been (and should never be) considered when designing badges.
(For what it’s worth, I don’t even consider said feature to be an exploit.)

From The Black‘s pretty good. Haven’t played it much, though I have upgraded everything. Seems like it could use easy/med/hard/imp badges for getting 1 achievement/beating story mode/beating story++ mode/getting all achievements. The rating’s not to good at the moment though.

I’ve been wondering something for a while. I see a lot of people do it and I guess this is the best place to ask. Why suggest a game without API? If the developer didn’t implement it right off the bat, are they likely to do so, later? It’s pretty well known that there’s an increase in revenue share, so if that’s not an incentive…

Occasionally greg or raw will contact developers to see if they can implement API into their games if they didn’t originally have it. Also, sometimes developers will go back and add it later if they see it could be more worth it (additional revenue on a very small initial amount really isn’t an incentive, while if the game becomes more popular it could easily become worth it).

It depends on the developer; they may not understand the benefits of adding API. In the case of Steppin Stones, the developer literally made their Kong account last week, so it’s likely they are inexperienced and could add API if gregismojo got in contact with them and walked them through the process.
If it’s a dev that historically hasn’t added API and you’re asking about a three year old game, then it likely isn’t changing. (Although that isn’t 100% certain: Bowmaster Prelude 2 is a notable exception.)

Unfortunately, 2013 hasn’t seen a lot of games with high ratings, and many of those above 3.7 or so seem to be missing API at the moment. Hopefully the developers consider adding it.

So, The Breach was given an easy badge for the Aliens promotion. Since the game’s length/content can support more than an easy badge, I’m reposting my old suggestions (minus the easy suggestion, of course).
The Breach (current rating: 3.76)
Astro Lounge Badge (medium ~ 15 points)
Defeat the creature at the end of the crew quarters.
[ ] 48% game progress (best so far: )
Nostromo-damus Badge (hard ~ 30 points)
Achieve 80% game progress.
[ ] 80% game progress – you will need to earn 4-star ratings in the first four areas to reach 80% (best so far: )
Since the easy badge was for beating the first area, the above medium feels kind of redundant. However, it’s the only thing that really fits. The game still has some API issues; most notably, the achievements don’t record correctly, and so it would be difficult to use them for a badge.
I’m also leaving the hard badge recommendation alone. 100% progress would certainly be a much more logical badge, but the API still does not record Engine Room (area 5) completion. As a result, 80% is currently the highest total that can be presently obtained. Hopefully the API problems can be corrected, and maybe that’s the reason only an easy badge has been assigned so far.
