It would be nice to have an easy way to transfer save data between computers or through the account.

In theory, it would be plausible to set up a system where you could transfer data through your account. But that would need a LOT of storage, so much as to render the idea unworkable. My suggestion: use a flash drive. |
Are you saying you just play at work? If so, why would you need to transfer information? If your playing at home and work, I still don’t see why you would have to. I assume you want to so you can pick up where you left off in regards to challenges and cards when you aren’t at work, or vice versa. My suggestion would be to just complete the challenges/cards/games at work or home, and don’t start a new one until after your on the other computer. |
Well.. if you copy your flash savefiles it should work. |
I cant resist saying that the easiest thing to do is work at home! One laptop/ PC = No problemo hehe. |
If you are on a windows computer, you can go to C:(or D: or whatever your main drive is)\\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\Random###s\ and copy the chat.kongregate.com folder. Make sure to copy your files onto the second computer without overwriting other files you may have on the first computer. |
Just to add on to jgeralnik’s post, you also should copy the kongregate.com folder as both of these places contain your saved info. |
Just to clarify, I play flash games from home as well. My post is more relevant in regards to games like Monsters Den. Maybe you guys can help me through a point of confusion here. From what I understand there are several flash players out there. In my work computer there is both a SUN and a Macromedia folder in the Applications Data folder. Do all the games on Kongregate use one specifc player? Or could save data be in either player? |
It’s only the Flash Player data you are looking for, which is in the Macromedia folder. |
Yeknomssa, I located the chat.kongretage.com folder in C:\Documents and Settings\dgaspard\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects but I didn’t see a second Kongregate folder in #sharedobjects. Thanks for the help guys! |
There is not a Kongregate folder or anything. All files are saved randomly there, even those you play from other websites. So in fact, unless there is another folder, those are the save files you are looking for. |
If ever, I would try to copy the save files hidden in the Windows folder… save it to another computer. Just as Karasu had said |
There is in fact a “kongregate.com” folder for some as well (even a “www.kongregate.com” folder); though I believe it is there for those that have played for a long time. “chat.kongregate.com” is the current folder. |
where is the documents and settings folder?? I did a full search of my hard drive and it didnt come up with anything |
It had some folder name XD-something, just put up “XD” on the search within drive C: (try to open up hidden files as well) |
C:\Documents and Settings It should not be hidden. |
I have the Macromedia folder hidden, for some reason. I can never access temporary files or flash save files. |
Well, the Application Data folder is hidden, but “Documents and Settings” should not be. In any case a person should turn on hidden folders if they are looking for these files, but shouldn’t have trouble finding the first one if they don’t. |
i dint find Documents and Settings but i searched for Macromedia and i found the folder. Thanks. I found inside #SharedObjects and the folders i found were chat.kongregate.com, and kongregate.com. Which one do I use? |
The vast majority of games use chat.kongregate.com. Some older ones use kongregate.com instead. You’ll probably just need te chat.kongregate.com folder, but if you only want a few games then you can look inside that and find the specific game you want – you’ll see a bunch of numbered folders (the numbers correspond to the game’s number on Kongregate), and inside that you’ll see another folder with something hopefully related to the name of the game (though sometimes that folder is just called “game.swf” or something similar). |

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for the help. Transfering the App data worked perfectly and I went from windows xp to Vista. This topic may be worthy of a sticky or maybe a FAQ addition. |
for a quick way of going to the chat.kongregate folder, just do this 1. Go to START -> RUN 2. Type in APPDATA done, just find the chat.kong folder now. |
