You should only help if they ask for it, and not running straight to the person and say “yuh dis button mutes ya see” or something like that. Second, many older users can be quite unknowing in some parts of Kongregate too. If you see a person has been in Kongregate since -08, but still doesn’t know the things in the forums, you can help him/her. The key point is, that **you answer when asked**. That’s a sentence that will help you most of the time. If you have hard time to explain something, guide him/her to a thread! Search some generic thread titles or discussions which could help such as [this](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/106076-forum-faqs-custom-search-engines-useful-links), and tell that to the person.

He/She said that he/she will help any users when the opportunity arises and that he/she will try to make it a habit. If you enjoy helping users, there is no need to try making it a habit since you already like doing this anyway. If you try to force a habit, it will induce stress.

The mods decide if you’d be good mod, and you also can report and mute trolls, and you can summon mods with [Modfriend’s friends](http://www.kongregate.com/account/Modfriend/friends) or with a script. So technically, you could be counted as a mod, as you have the power to remove him/her from the chat in time or get the person banned.

Well he can only give the admins a recommendation to ban a certain person by reporting, and he does not have the power to remove one from the chat, it is the moderators, same case, he can just ask the moderators to silence them, removing from the chat is done in very extreme situations when a moderator bans the troll for a small period of time.

this is very good advice ill try to go by it but meh long as you give it an effort i wish i had seen this be4 i had aked a mod but now i know and wont pester them again thx for the post ill try to Earn the right but meh just depends on what you do :)

If you have been in “trouble” before will that count against you in any way? By trouble I mean silenced or alts being closed etc…

It’s more about how you act all-throughout. Things like your behavior, habits, the way you react to things, and how you deal with them.
