what about moderators from other countries? there are a lot of abusive users for example in Pulaski’s Place (where i spent a lot of time). how can I contribute when no mod can actually confirm that certain user is indeed abusive (since there are no polish-speaking mods)?

Well zakid, i wish i could know what to use to fight agains the trolls, because in the non-speaking-english-room where i spend my time too, we got to nothing to do with the trolls that destroy the fun on the chat. You know, sending a abusive-user-feedback won’t help anything because… they don’t speak my lenguage, so it’s prety useless and screen shoting the chat and showing to the moderators it isn’t that useful too, because baning someone who is offline from kongregate is like doing nothing :/

I have no desire to be a moderator at all, and the fascination with being one is bizarre and alien to me.

If you report a lot of posts and games, and all of the reports are valid, does it increase your chances of becoming a moderator?

You run the risk of looking like you are too eager to become a Mod and hence might foil your chances. Best way to be a mod.. Trust me on this.. is to be Civil, Polite and decent at all times. Your chances of becoming a mod doubles with that.

For me, depending on the behavioral aspect of the user. It’s awesome to flag games when you find a bad one since it contributes effort to Kongregate but there’s a limit to which in you go maniacal on flagging games.
We also have to check your chat activity and how cool you are without moderators. We may need to check if you’re good at mediating and leniency.
It’s okay to have ambitions. I wanted to be a moderator too and I am now one. valkryie is just saying that you shouldn’t be hyper-active and strict. We’re not policemen but security guards.

**For all of those younger users who want mod ship:**
Don’t gun for mod ship. It isn’t worth is since your at the age where you can’t spend _many hours_ a day moderating chat rooms. Not to mention, if you _do_ really want to become a moderator, might I ask why? You’re young so maturity and decision making is questionable. If you really want mod ship and you are young, spend a few years (2-3) on Kongregate being responsible, respectful, useful in the community, and learning how the Kongregate community is. The more you understand the community as well as being liked, the easier it will be for you if you DO become a mod.

Nice guide. All of these things are things people should be doing already, but it is good to have a nice guide here.

Hokage that was a very good statement. But I’m sure kong doesn’t want just old farts being mods either. But yeah spending at least 1 year on Kong would be a good amount for any who are even looking for modship.

Guys, remember. Moderator is only a title. You can be a moderator just by being nice, using this [form](http://www.kongregate.com/feedbacks/new) and selecting Abusive User drop the drop down menu, and by helping your fellow players out.
The only thing that is different between normal players and moderators is the M by your name (and the silencing part, but that is what the mute button is for).

He pretty much summed it up guys, the only difference between being a user being a mod is:
**User-**
Can freely report users
Can’t silence
Can mute Users
No restrictions as to being active
**Mod-**
Can handle users on the spot
“M” in chat
Activity requirements

Actually only room owners are obliged to be active(although lots don’t even obey that) Moderators are free to be on or not although the latter is preferred.
Users CAN mute users, and you missed the part where moderators have to be on their best behaviors representing kong and their rights are fewer than those of users They are subject to the rules of conduct more and can’t even get into too heated arguments that can be civil but may attract some kind of flaming.

Actually, I do remember the admins saying you don’t have to be “on X amount of hours in the week” or anything if your a mod. You just expected to perform your duties when you are on.

1) There go your chances. Asking really reduces your chances.
2) Proper grammar goes a long way.
3) Please dont bump dead topics.
4) New Moderators are nominated by old/current moderators. Be nice in the chat and you might be nominated. Dont ask here =/
