Low level people in chat

I know it may seem harsh, but low level people seem to be always the ones who attack each other, calling each other “gay” or other very witty insults, and also having what seems to be spam wars, ban all people under level 5 from talking in chat…

i know i’m going to be ripped apart with persuasive arguments but i’m just saying it how i see it and i acknowledge i may be wrong in what i say.

That idea is probably a good idea for the more active and higher levelled portion of the community, but for people that just create an account on Kongregate, for the first time, they wouldn’t get to experience all of Kongregate’s features, and they would be less likely to stay. I don’t support this idea, but I do think that there should be level specific chatrooms, so all of the low levelled/beginning Kongregators would have a place to chat (The normal chatrooms) And we could still have some chatrooms where people under level __ Could not chat. Would this not solve the issue you presented, and still let the beginners/low levelled people chat?

that really would do the same thing wouldn’t it… your right in saying that chat is what helps players stay longer so its probably a good idea.

Yes, the point is not to take off chat entirely for the lower levelled people, as you want to, but to make chats that lower levelled people cannot get into, which produces the desired effect, and still gives low levelled users plenty of places to chat. Not to mention it would give them something to work for. (Right now there is nothing to look forward to by leveling up, other than beta testing Kongai, and a couple other betas.

platinumice that would just bring the flaming and spamming into those level specific rooms. that wont help at all. i think that they should be level 5 before they start speaking in chat.

I think banning all level 0-4’s from chat is a good idea, its an incentive to play games and get badges to earn the right to….well….chat really.

imagine platinumice, you have about 70 level 1’s in a chat room flaming each other. see what im saying?

You’re making it seem as if EVERY SINGLE level 1 user is doing it?

What I’m trying to convey here, is the fact that when a user signs up, if they don’t have access to the full features of Kongregate, they will be less likely to stay, and we will probably have a significant drop in members signing up.

In addition, If I were to make an alt (Duck alt, Yoshi alt, etc.) I would have to take a while to get all the way up to level five, just to use that account for chatting? I don’t like that idea.

I’ve got a feeling this is going to turn into a large discussion…

I support this idea, but kongregate would loose a lot of regular users, so this could actually hurt the website then and not help it.

but most new users dont use Kongregate for chatting, they only really start using it once they get to around level 5 anyway. Plus, its not as if getting to level 5 is challenging. Maybe put it down to level 3 and I see no cons of the idea.

im saying that majority of them would be doing it,ItBeNickYo. i know some wont. but i bet you see alot of low levels spamming that chat rooms. the people who are not spamming will have to earn there rights to speak in chat rooms. its like driving, you have to be a responsible and hardworking to be able to drive.

hmm, but at least if you have a separate chat room for the low levels you as a higher level dont need to be there, where as at the moment avoiding levels 1-4/5s spamming each other is impossible.

I am 100% for this idea. I see too many level 1 users constantly spamming the chat and annoying fellow high level, mature members.

i guess you could also do it by age, have general chat rooms and then 18+/16+ (not because its all about sex or something),

That wouldnt work, as most people on this site has either a hidden age or a fake one.

I don’t see a lot of cons in my idea: Making some chatrooms for the levels 1-5’s and then as they progressively get higher levelled, they can go into the other chatrooms. As you said, guy707, It’s like driving: You can drive a Go-Kart and ride a bike when you are not responsible, but as you get more responsible, you can drive.

In other words, You should have some kind of beginning chatrooms for the low levelled, and then the normal chatrooms that they can chat in after level 5, and then, some chatrooms for level 10’s, then some for 20’s, some for 30’s, etc.

after sort of level 15-20 i dont think there would be a huge difference in the people in the chat rooms, it takes a significant amount of time to get to level 15 and that shows at least a level of commitment to the site, not just to spamming.

I think after level 20, you may as well stop, as it begins to get a bit too much. I personally think that PlatinumIce’s idea is slightly flawed, as there is still some level 1’s that ARE normal and dont flame, and putting them in a “prison” of flamers and spammers is slightly harsh.

I don’t see a problem in making it harder for people that just keep getting banned from being and idiot in chat or like spamming. Nearly always it’s the same person. XD
