How about allowing users to give points to people that upload games. For instance, if Hadii there uploaded a game that I absolutely love, and I want to give him more acknowledgement other than saying good job, I can give him a few points. Not necassarilly from my own points, but maybe from a pool that’s alloted to you every week or day. Say, 50 points a week, and you can only hand out 10 per person. Something like that.
This would also work on the forums. If someone makes a post I agree with, I can point up, instead of Digg up. This would get people posting on the boards a bit more, and it would also mean people would try to word there messages better.

We have chat logs, but they’re only viewable by Kongregate staff (not even moderators).
Also, I like Zarile’s idea a lot.

I tried to tell them exactly that rubic, they just don’t listen.

I have no idea what Rubic just said….
Another idea….
How about points for completing games? The harder the game, the more points….kinda like Xbox Live achievements.

Create this same game network/community for the mobile phone – it could work in conjunction with the web-based Kongregate or it could be totally independent. It might be difficult to chat; however, a games compendium with mini-prizes, rankings, and points would still be innovative for the mobile phone (at least in the US). Using current standards, both Java 2 Micro Edition (j2me) and Flash Lite would be viable technical approaches (may be done through converting existing games or finding cell phone based games). From a business standpoint, you could probably ink a couple deals with major cell phone manufacturers and expand greatly, which will give the gamers a much more immersive experience with a greater variety of games. Everybody wins. Kongregate is happy, cell phone manufacturers are happy, and the game community is happy.
I may post some more ideas in the near future at [startupskunkworks](http://startupskunkworks.blogspot.com)

That’s a pretty tall order, brianliu, but it seems like a good idea… in theory.

Theres a problem with that, since you have a much smaller pool of developers to pull from, and you wouldnt have the games that are on Kongregate now (unless they are ported). Like Indie says, in theory its a good idea, but it needs a lot more thought. Its not exactly the same as Kongregate, and Kongregate is still in its early stages.

i don’t really get how you could create a community of people playing on mobile phones … The best thing on Kong is that you can chat when playing and share experience and stuff. If you play on your phone, you can’t do both at the same time so it’s a bit limited.
oh and i’m converting my game danZtyle using j2me (flash lite has no compatibility with most of the actual mobile phones), i’ll tell you when it’s finished ;)

I guess PSP will work but not mobile phones…

It would be nice to be able to ban someone from the forums for a time but not necessarily the whole site.

Add private messaging and let us have a channel for voice chat.

Private messaging is definitely on its way.
Voice chat…I dunno. The server and bandwidth requirements might be a bit much. It would be such a nuisance to moderate as well.

What about adding a calender to the website. That way developers know datelines for certain contest?

Suggestion: I understand you want to put some kind of store in which you can buy some prizes with your points collected from the website … I see only things related to referral to the website and rating games are applied to normal users who do not develop games , why won’t you make a system of giving points for time spent on this website ? … for example reaching god knows what level at a game gives you 10 points … etc.

Not sure if this is posisble, but support for multiple swf assets in a single game (instead of a single swf)
And maybe some multiplayer games (for approved devs) would be absolutely kickass.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned elsewhere!

@hadii:
The rules are already available on the site [Terms page](http://www.kongregate.com/pages/terms) (“Terms” link is at the bottom of every page), the [FAQ](http://www.kongregate.com/pages/help) (link is on the upload page on the right hand side), and in the Game Uploading Agreement on the [upload](http://www.kongregate.com/games/new) page.
You will find the rules about age requirements as well as uploading games on those pages. Additionally, some of the terms regarding uploading will be more visible, as indicated by [this thread](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1/topics/152).
Regarding only allowing English games, I don’t think that is reasonable. There are people who visit this site from other countries, and they are just as entitled to play games in their native language as we are. This is why we have chat rooms for foreign languages.

Another Suggestion: allow moderators to shift spammers and abusive people into a spam room permanently or temporarily.

or they could mute them or somthing.

I agree that the behavior guidelines are confusing, but this is because I only want moderator enforcement to occur when it’s pretty obvious from both sides that there’s inappropriate behavior going on. (In other words, I don’t like enforcing rules just for the sake of enforcing rules, so I let people exercise some judgment.)
I’ll probably clarify them a bit, though. But you can find my current guidelines [here](http://www.kongregate.com/pages/conduct).

lol I only put that cuz I mentioned it jokingly in the room and they said hey good idea submit some feedback and get some points. but it ain’t working :)
do I get 5 points? :P – hopes -
|
|
|
metadata
Whoever said that was wrong because you don’t get points for posting comments, that would only encourage spamming. Think about it…
|
|
|

Well, it was working in Alpha which gives you 5 points if you submit a feedback, abusive, bug or other reports.
