In a lot of forums i see the ability that if you are the owner of the thread you have the privilege to delete anybody who is spamming your thread. Look at blacksharpies post in this one. http://www.kongregate.com/forums/2/topics/14488
just a thought. ( This isnt my thread but TheC should have the ability to delete it. |

Personally I reckon that wouldn’t be a great thing to have, if say the topic was a debate about something if the topic starter was imature enough they would just delete people who disagree with them. |

that had nothing to do with the topic jacob.

No. No. Bad idea. BAD IDEA.
You know who should be doing the moderating around here? Moderators. Not random users who just happened to start a thread where discussion happened.
EDIT: The “Search” box is at the top-right. |

The forum search is integrated into the site search (upper right). It’s not the greatest, but if you remember the name of the thread you can usually find it.
Of course, there is also a Firefox search engine that works a bit better.
EDIT: Jabor editninja’d me D:
EDIT2: And yeah, horrible idea. The option to delete your own thread should also be thrown. |

What forums? I’ve never seen it before. As Jabor said, moderating is done by moderators.
It would be an absolutely terrible idea and heavily abused. I would never be a part of a forum where such a feature existed. There is no reason we should ever have such a thing. If anything we need to remove similiar features.
I made a comment about this somewhere else, but ironically I think it might have been deleted for some reason. |

I would not like it.
If somebody made a thread saying ‘Runescape is so awesome’
The author of the thread would probabely just delete all threads saying it sucks. |

Indeed. Such would only be the beginning and least of the abuse that we would see. |

Billyfred was correct? I don’t even know anymore. He fluctuates from a crazy person to… logical. It’s weird.
We need to dissect him and study him for the future of human schizophrenics! |

The latest versions of VBulletin forums have an option that allows regular users the ability to delete their own threads and/or posts. Is this a good idea? No. Even though the Administrator can see deleted threads anyway I always recommend against it. On any forum I have administered, I limited users to the ability to edit only. That is sufficient imho.
The Kong forums are fine although perhaps more user friendly formatting options would be nice, but they do the job. :) |
