Look I know since its release there have been mixed feelings toward the game. The main problems people say are there aren’t enough cards, its too much luck, there should be trading, you should re pick starters, and of course the drop rate of cards. I’ll address them all.

1. THERE AREN’T ENOUGH CARDS: Relax there are 4 new sets being made as we speak. the game just went public give it time.

2. TOO MUCH LUCK INVOLVED. Yes there is a good amount of luck but really i think its not as much as people are saying. yes you’ll get bad luck every once in awhile but for the most part no. all the odds are fine. like open palm i have on 2 guys i never get more than like 1 stun in a row. ANd if it was a straight statistics game it be boring. i like a little chance. gives the underdog a chance. Any given Sunday.

3. YOU SHOULD HAVE TRADING. iVE spoke of this in many forums. this will lead to unfairness. i can get my bros to make an account and unfairly help me with trading with their starter card. just earn them.

4. I PICKED BAD STARTERS, WE SHOULD REPICK THEM. No. stop it. its not gonna happen. you cant switch ur starter pokemon half way thru the game. HEy there is a great way to repick ur cards. start a new account. every has to deal with it 2/3 of my starters stunk. i move on.

5. THE DROP RATES ARE TOO LOW. I heard someone say they want it at 10% thats insane! 3% is fine. This site wants you to play the others games on it as well. hence the weekly challenges. i have 20 cards. i think 15 are from challenges. Just play the challenges and dont rely on the drop cards.

The luck stuff is all perspective. One day i’ll be stunning people left and right and the next day its me who can’t get off an attack. Its annoying but I deal. The only real complaint I keep hearing is “OMG Boobies! Put some clothes on.” And the people who keep saying that have lied about their age to get on this site.

... 3% is fine….

They actually have it higher than 3% if you have very few cards. It is now a formula, less cards higher . I heard it is up near 50 if you have no cards.

avatar for Godsend Godsend 27 posts

yeah i forgot to mention that. i was so lucky i had 15 cards and won rumiko on my 3rd match lol than nothing for the next 50 wins lol

avatar for funkgarrett funkgarrett 22 posts

I won my first two matches and got two cards. Not a one since.

There are plenty of people who had about the same numbers of cards as you did (15), and they won over 100 matches and hadn’t got a card.

And you’re lucky because you got your Rumiko as your first win card.

Anyhow, winning is a very unreliable way to get card. I imagine if you have 30+ and 40+ cards, you’ll almost never win a card. Playing challenges is really the only (reliable) way to get a new card.

Even if I don’t get to repick my starters, I still want to delete them because they are ugly.

yeah starters are usually picked wrong. I dont want to start another account just because i messed up.

avatar for The_Round_Peg The_Round_Peg 267 posts

^ Not to mentioned it’s against the rules here to start a second account.

avatar for krick19 krick19 186 posts

^ Let’s see where you found that rule.

^ I read that someone had a second account, and the admin deleted all the cards in one of his accounts.

Having a second account isn’t the same as deliberately card farming with that second account. In other words, you can’t set up a second account for the sole purpose of losing games to yourself so that you earn a whole bunch of cards.

Anyhow, starting a second account just to repick STARTER cards is stupid. For one thing, most people already had a few cards before they picked their STARTER cards. They’d also lose those cards if they started with a new account.

Maybe they did not have enough challenge cards to make up a good deck, and they picked some STARTER cards that don’t work together with the cards they already had – because they were forced to picked their STARTER cards when they had no idea what the game was about, before they even got a chance to play the game.

drop rates are fine…I have 39 cards and won 2 cards in 150 wins or so…so it’s all good….although I do sympathize with the people wanting to get rid of duplicates…I have 4 duplicates myself and am looking for a way to get rid of them but the problem with that is all the people with lots of cards(over 70 for some)have so much duplicates that would be too awarding if they made something in exchange..

Point 4 is wrong in pretty much every possible way, including the hopelessly flawed comparison to pokemon. Cliffs notes as to why the comparison is bad: Pokemon didn’t require you to play your one-pokemon team against other players’ six-pokemon teams, nor did it dictate exactly which pokemon you get (you could hunt down specific ones if you wanted them badly enough). Your philosophy is a good way to make sure that kongai fails to bring any new people to kongregate other than sirlin.net fans.

EDIT: To preempt the usual ad hominems, I have not chosen starters on this account out of principle, but I do play the game

if u can repick starters it would make the game more appealing to people who dont know how to play or picked wrong. if we make it a trading game then all u have to do is not be able to trade starters and boom, we are all good. but then again people new to the game might trade away thier best cards for something not so good

Maybe put up a sign saying “It would be a good idea to go practice and see how the game works”, at the starter-choosing screen?

Sure would help new people who have no idea which cards they like (which is basically everyone eligible for starter cards).

Actually, back when Kongai just launched, players HAD TO pick three starter cards immediately, BEFORE they even got a chance to play Kongai for the very first time, (unless they had been in the beta test before.)

At the launch, players did not have a choice of delaying picking their starter cards. They could not delay picking their starter cards until after they had played Kongai, even for just once. They could not wait until after they had learned something about Kongai. They were forced to pick three cards, right away, blindly, without a freaking clue what Kongai was or how the game played. If they did not pick three cards, they could not even get past the start-up screen, play the game or even see what the game was about.

Soon later, Kongai put out an update and fixed the problem. Now Kongai lets player delay picking their starter cards until after they have already played the game.

HOWEVER, many players (myself included) wanted to check out Kongai right away when the game first came out. When we started up Kongai, it immediately told us that we had to pick three cards right away. And then it gave us 40+ cards to pick, all of which we had very little or no idea about. Atop of that, we had not even played the game, and we could not play or even look at the game before we picked the three cards.

So, when I was forced to pick my starter cards right away, I was like, “WTF? I have to pick three cards NOW? I can’t even check out the game first.” There were descriptions and numbers on the cards, but I had no idea how they worked or what they were – because I had no idea how the game played.

Then, AFTER I picked the cards, I saw the cards with the big ugly “STARTER” label on them, and THEN, I found out I could only use three/five characters and items at a time. (I had thought I would get to use all cards in one game.)

Less than a week later, Kongai put out an update that allow people to play the game first before picking their starters. But the first batch of players (who picked their starter cards before the update) had already been screwed.

Maybe add in a reset button?

Clears all cards you got from playing Kongai (not challenges), maybe resets your level, and allows you to pick 3 starter cards again?

Too much to give up for the ability to repick starters. It should just be maybe a once a week “reset starter cards.”

That’s it.

The starters expire every week, and you won’t be able to pick the same starter cards twice in a row. You’ll have to wait a week before you’ll be able to pick the same cards again.

If you really like a starter card you try and want to use it every week, then you’ll have to earn the permanent version.

When my starters were removed from Beta to Live, any decks I had with my starters were instantly deleted. Automatic expiration would therefore equal massive headaches with ‘why did my deck disappear?’
