Discussion: Seek and Destroy (Anti-Hacking Team)

Hello, I’m here to propose a idea thats bold, but might just bring a little relief to the already stressed working schedules of mods and admins alike. It is a well known fact that hacking is a problem on the internet, however hacking is a major problem for scoreboards. Not only is it immoral, It rips true “clean” gamers of their legitimate experience. This is a plague that has affected all of us, however I have a solution thats less stressful for mods and admins while being system friendly.

I propose that a carefully picked/nominated players will be chosen to join the Seek and Destroy Anti-Hacking Team (SDAHT). This team will carefully monitor the high scores and use evidence and common sense to pick out those who have hacked the high scores and the games themselves. Simple right? Not quite…

By now you may be thinking all of these things that could go wrong, all the flaws of this. However I have a solution to all questions asked. Here is my very own FAQ for readers.

Question: What if someone abuses the system?

Answer: Actually very simple answer. This team, will be split into more teams. Before allowing to post their list of hackers and the evidence, they must first run it through their teams. From there the team makes sure all the evidence is solid, and double check to make sure all names and other various information is correct. Lastly of all, when posting the information approved by the team each member was whisper an a-okay to the admin,mod, etc that is in charge of fixing the high scores list.

Question: How will I know that someone really is part of the team?

Answer: Well there are multiple answers to that. Depending on which you think is best, we could have a password system, a symbol behind someones name (much like the mods “M”), or we could have a private forum section for members only (not really the best choice in my opinion). The safest solution would be a symbol, but any will work.

Question: Would there be someone who could automatically delete someones high score if there is solid proof of a hack?

Answer: Well this touchs up again on the “abusing the system” problem so I would entirely let the admin make his mind on that. He could make mini admins that can change the high scores list. I would suggest that if the admin did so, he give VERY LIMITED POWER. In my opinion, I would suggest to keep highscore deletion like it is. I believe those in charge currently should stay in charge. Giving someone power over high scores is very dangerous. So to answer your question, no.

if this idea is implemented I think most hi-scores of the games wont be looked at by the “SDAHT” since some of them are old, not fun and have no badges, so basically I think this would still work good but for games that are popular, have challenges, and have badges on them but thats the important part anyway since you have something to gain on that game, hackers should be prevented.

thanks crimson. One of the most important things I believe should be done, is those who have been found hacking should have badges stripped from them. Such as if they cheated in amphorous+ they should be stripped of their badges and forced to get them again legitimately.

All daily, top, and weekly high scores are all hacked. I’ve already sent the names to the admin however this is just outrageous. This is a prime example of why this team should be assembled!

There is no harm to it since the admins will be a judge and they will get notified of this lists.

I support this idea.

Also, practically all games on Kongregate are hacked these days, that’s why we need this idea implemented. I mean, sure the staff do their hardest, but there just aren’t enough people to monitor ALL the highscores.

Since your mods you know most of the rules, could you help publicize this thread for me? I mean as long as its perfectly fine with the rules. It seems like everyone agrees with the idea, however I think it make take more supports before we got a strong argument on our side.

I really would support this although this will be very hard to manage and run. It would make admins’ lives easier as now reports of inaccurate scores and impossible scores can come from a more trusted group of people.
