The "Leaderboard"

Hi fellow Kongregators!

I want to complain about our Top 25 Kongregators

I’m not satisfied (as well as the others I think) with the “Leaderboard”, because:

- It is almost impossible to get there without referrals.

(Look od Jayisgames profile, Mden and upcoming Psychotronic. Soon all 25 Kongregators will be Jay is games writers!) The leaderboard should be called “refferal board” soon.

- You can rate ONLY 30 games per day (which is kinda annoying and won’t let you get more points (most of the games are betas, dress-up, demos, etc.), hope the limit will be raised…)

So I’ve got an idea: Global Rank in your profile showing your place.

Please, don’t flood this topic with useless sentences. We need to discuss this thread. Thanks for reading.

Maybe there should be a limit to points you can earn from referrals. Like 5000 or something.

I think it would be quite cool to have a “global rating”, but removing the cap for game ratings is not a good idea. And they are also raising it to 50 btw.

Harebrains suggestion gets my backup too, cap for referrals could be a good idea. Since (i think) it ruins the points system when referrals is the thing that gets you loads of points, not impossible badges.

Static limit is not good. Dynamic limit is great.

For example : Referral point limit is based on how many points you earn manually (Ex : Rating a game, get a badge, make a game then get the bonus points, etc…...). If you get a lot of points from referrals, you’ll have to contribute on this site to claim the remaining referral points.

They haven’t implemented 50 a day yet. Also, a dynamic limit seems a better idea. But there should still be on final static limit, as games are uploaded everyday, and new badges and whatnot. Maybe one final limit of 10,000, but you can only get there by getting more and more regular points.

Hmm… Like “you need x number of badges to level up to the next level”, then your level limits the max points you can earn.

Why dont we just not show the jayisgames writers on the leaderboards? Let them have there referrals but not be one of the top 25 kongregateors?

How about multiple Leaderboards. Badges, Referrals, Ratings, Current combined points (the one now), etc.

alot of people have all the badges, ratings would be pointless, and jayisgames would win in referrals and current combined points

Because they belong to Kongregate…even if they do get most of their points from referrals.

Juice was being rational. What is the pointing of crying foul when you fail to achieve top ranking? Should the rule of any game be changed because other people are better than you?

Top 25 Kongregators are just better at “kongregating” you know lol. Just joking.

Paladin2K, people don’t like current rankings because it doesn’t show any gaming skills. I support global rankings. Also as I might have stated before, make referral bonus less points would be another solution.

Honestly, it is just a ranking anyway….

Besides, a ranking based on games would only be possible to if it was based on points earned. Earn more badge = more points; in which, certain people with high referrals are able to achieved without playing games. Do you see the dilemma in this?

High referrals means more sign-ups that translate to higher income to the site. If people stops referring people to Kongregate; how would Kongregate able to cope with the increasing cost of maintaining the site? Would you be happy if you need to pay monthly fees to play games here?

Think about it for a second… You are asking Kongregate to alienate people who brings more income to them? Does that makes any sense at all?
