I’m currently making a game, and I was wondering about how strict Kongregate is on copyrighted content such as sprite rips and sound effects.

I read the Help:
“Most importantly, uploaded games (including all components of games, such as audio) must be your original work or work you have permission to upload from the owner. Kongregate has absolutely no tolerance for uploading stolen content. Violators of this policy will automatically receive a lifetime ban.”

However, I also noticed that there are a lot of games on Kongregate that do not follow these rules.

Well if it is your game it should be fine.

examples please? Note that there are no sprite games here on kong (and by no, i mean popular ones), most likely because they infract the rule you quoted, you;d have to post it on Newgrounds and make no moneyz DX

Well, I’m not making the game for money at all, it’s just a hobby. I only wanted to submit it here so more people can play it.

Anyways, I don’t really want to get banned from Kong for that, so I guess I won’t submit it here. :(

Ahh, smart! I’ll definitely do that.

Worst comes to worst, they don’t accept it and I lose nothing anyway.

well, games automatically make money on Kong from shared ad revenue, so yeah. Did you upload the gme elsewhere? it might help if you pot a link to it.

support@kongregate.com or inquiries@kongregate.com, whichever link you think is better.

I haven’t released the game anywhere yet, but I’m just putting the finishing touches now and was planning to do so in about a week.

If it’s any consolation, Seven Deadly Sins used Highway to Hell in the credits, and it got badges.

And SuperSmashFlash used a load of ripped sprites.

Most important thing: Use your own code!

All code was hand-written into it, except free libraries like tweenLite.

It’s just that there are some very obvious sprite rips and sound effects that I did not make. I do credit everything I use though.
