Ideally there would be something like live.search club, where prizes are given for playing games. (Obviously no 360’s or Rock Bands-A simple Kongregate T-Shirt would still rock) However, since this is highly unlikely due to the amount of difficulty in implementing it and the susceptibility to hacking, make this feature very unlikely.
An in-game rewards system would be very plausible. Take for instance, Platform Racing 2. You could have a lvl 1 hat, a lvl 5 hat, and a lvl 15 hat, with the levels corresponding to your lvl on your Kongregate account, not your in-game character.

I doubt it. That would be still unbelievably hard to do.

umm i think this is a second posting of this thread. if not, i’ll say what I said in the first posting if I said anything

Level has already been used as a method of selecting Kongai beta testers.

Also games cannot access our level information, because that would require two way communication beyond the skills of most developers. I am often impressed even when the game manages to track down my username.

they can.

It isn’t really hard. The most work do the KongAPI, you have just ask the level of the Player.

Also you can get the Players Avatar. Or… if he is a Mod.

I think the Kong staff was once on this topic about buying stuff for points…But I doubt it will happen since Jay is Games would buy out the Kong store pretty fast XP

Well, what about only points earned from games/rating can be spent? The referral points will still level you up on the site, but you can’t spend them.

No that’s dumb, you’re excluding some people from this site. For some, those are where they get their points. What happens when they get all their badges? Just admit it, this idea suxx0rz.

For some, those are where they get their points.

That brings us back to this:

We need a tweak to the referral system. The people with popular websites are dominating Kongregate.

Shame them for being popular! Take down the popular guys and let the nerds prosper! Yes so genius =P

I never said that. I said we need a tweak. Not to delete the highest leveled accounts off of Kongregate.

Maybe make the users keep a certain ratio pertaining to how often they come on Kongregate, or how many games they’ve played, etc.

Perhaps keep a ratio so that they must claim their points in varied amounts each day, pertaining to how many games they’ve played/how often they come on Kongregate.

avatar for Glompee Glompee 2397 posts

No, that won’t work either. They have to claim their points, right? So…you’re taking off non-actives from kong. This won’t work.

avatar for Nezzadar Nezzadar 505 posts

again

Level has already been used as a method of selecting Kongai beta testers.

Kong has other uses, but they won’t involve shirts, because that costs too much money, and it won’t involve game features, because people would go elsewhere to play the game, and because Kong dosen’t have that much power over developers.

Also, level allows us to say “Shut up you noob, you is only a level 3, while we is all level 22” when someone complains about how something needs to be changed.

Yes I know level is a factor in determining who gets to beta and alpha test, (I was in the Kongai like a lot of people, I’m in the Dinowaurs and the Argue ones to) and thats pretty cool, but to me it doesn’t really feel too much like a reward to test a buggy, unfinished game that, in multiplayer, no one is really there to play against. Also insulting noobs just because they are a lower level also isn’t very rewarding-somehow “I’m better than you cause I can play more online games” just doesn’t cut it. Another thing is that it really doesn’t have to be those two ideas, anything would work. Maybe build an RPG game where an entire Skill Tree is built around your Kongregate level. Sorry if I started a new thread on an old topic but I didn’t see any other topic like this one, and I still don’t know how to search through the forum threads. (Can you?)

That’s complicated. I like a slightly different system.

X is the number of points awarded from badges. A user may only earn X points from referrals and X points from game ratings. This way, we can rate games all we want as long as we have some points. If one has all the badges, he has no limit on the amount of points that he can have.

No, level just gives some added leverage to your statements. I also think points could be used to buy cards, like the moogle shops in Final Fantasy. Or, since spending points would put your level at 1 if you bought all the cards you could, you could unlock cards at certain levels.

avatar for wise_dude321 wise_dude321 53 posts

I would make it simple. There is a market place on Kongai where you use the points to buy cards.

You missed the point of my post :(

it would be too hard too support a points store like that considering the amount of users we have but my suggestion is that we use our points for levels and after a certain level get prizes.

In an old newletter, it said ‘Next month, we plan to have a use for points ’Like buying Kongregate t-shirts!’. This was quite awhile back.

Since Kongregate’s userbase hails from all around the world I honestly don’t think shipping t-shirts or mugs or other stuff to places is likely, unless they’d want to, say, limit that offer to US or North America, or some other area, in which case it’s all the same to me. I actually at some point assumed this would have something to do with Kongai or perhaps it would be some more or less meaningless stuff about the site (like a new theme, or different colour name in chat or stuff like that). Maybe we could buy stuff from the premium content once they start with that thing?

But regardless of WHAT are the points going to be good for we also need to note that, aside from putting in the 30 ratings a day limit, it’s becoming generally easier and easier to earn points, there are simply more badges with every week, at least two of which are typically easy and another two are mediums. The system is also vulnerable to abuse, not even talking about spam rating (now blocked) or hacking but a person who knows the right badges and trained a bit could reach level 10, and consequently obtain around 100 referral points, in less than an hour (and if they were good at arcade stuff probably more like 20 minutes) with a fake referral account. In a much similar way submitting some “click da button” or “one level made in paint maze” games would earn them tons of stuff even if they were downrated. Until that problem is solved I find it unlikely points will be useful for anything with actual worth as it would probably run Kong bankrupt in a matter of days.

I could see a chatroom for users above 30/20 working, though.

Guys, really we should use it to gain a level or something, T-shirts is a bad idea… maybe Buy Cards for points

avatar for invalid_user invalid_user 444 posts

Oh I think Kong merchandise would be a great idea.
Using points to redeem for discounts on some of the stuff.
Say, 1000 points = 1 dollar off a T-Shirt price for instance.

That could lead to “Design a Kong Shirt” days and lots of
other possibilities.

I would definitely buy Kong stuff. Not only does it help support the site
I’m sure we all need new t-shirts, mugs and hoodies. :P

Shipping to various of the world has been conquered believe it
or not. It’s not a big deal these days. :D
