Deleting highscores is here!

Hey guys, we’re pleased to announce that we are now capable of deleting high scores that are obviously hacks. When scores are deleted, the offenders are automatically warned via email, then automatically banned if they persist. We’ve been clearing out some obviously hacked scores across games on the site, so you guys should feel free to list off some games here with obviously hacked scores. Thanks!

Dear god, I hope not.

Just the fact that if the hackers are not complete morons and hack high scores within the realm of the possible makes this a bad idea. And that’s just one thing.

Only admins can delete high scores. And no, we’re not going to award stuff for them, as it’s still pretty easy to hack and get a high score up there, as long as you’re not overly obvious about it.

Awesome! Thank you so much for making this change! It’s so disappointing to work hard at a high score only to get trumped by an idiot that just has to click a button and type in his score.. (Or however they do it)

• hax: above 18,100
• plausible (but unlikely): between 17,950 and 18,100: requires killing level 99 flyer bosses; people CAN manage this on 10k mode (so it’s possible), but I’ve never read about anybody doing it on the normal 100; presumably, you’ll have to give them the benefit of the doubt, but if you find some of their other scores questionable then maybe this is a sign…
• realistic: 17,950 and below: 17,950 is finishing the 100 with 18 lives, and there are videos of people doing this; to get a higher score, you must kill the level 99 flyer bosses, which is incredibly difficult.
  
  

EDIT: it turns out that DTD doesn’t include the lives bonus in your submitted score. Some have speculated this is because lives hacks exist, but not score hacks. (Similarly, the 100 doesn’t give a time bonus.) The first time I completed the 100, I didn’t notice this. After completing it again, it’s clear that you can’t get more than 17,650 (finish with 20 lives), and the known ‘realistic score’ is 17,500 (finish with 18 lives).

- Hard
This is made complicated by the fact you can get a bonus for sending early. That being said, take a look at the official high score board. Also, if you read the forums, there are tens of pages of discussions surrounding how to get to these scores. If somebody here on Kong all by their lonesome has a score significantly higher than people who spend so much time working on this together, I’d be very surprised.

Notice that nobody has higher than 10,600, and VERY many people have between 10,400 and 10,550. Anything above 10,600 is likely to be hax.

- Medium
Same problem as with hard, but if you look at the same high score board you’ll notice a similar pattern: nobody has higher than 8,200, while tons of people are sitting between 8,150 and 8,200. It seems likely that people getting above 8,250 are haxmen.

Whew, finally! There were some hacked high scores, when E was impossible in Line game.

Indeed. In both Mouse and Keyboard there are hacked scores. In keyboard it’s easy to tell which are ridiculous, in mouse.. not so much. I think I legitimately got my score past a hacked score. :P

Actually notagamer, it has been done. JRinke made a post about him completing DTD 100 with what I think is a video as well. I can’t see it though for some reason so I can’t verify it.

EDIT: Okay, I just realized that he didn’t score as many points as you pointed out, but I’d say that if DTD 100 can be beaten, then it is highly plausible that that score can be achieved.

Hard and Medium are more complicated to figure out,but unfortunately,easier to hack

This is because it has been confirmed that:

1. Score unhackable
2. Time hackable
3. Lives hackable
4. Money unhackable

Because there is a time bonus,the hacker can hack the lives to survive the inordinate amount of creeps and time to get more score. Time = More points Lives = If this is not hacked,then the unkilled creeps will destroy the hacker. After hacking these two,the hacker can spam-click send next wave and then get 0 points,but survive,and get a time bonus AND a life bonus.

I say remove all their highscores and remove their ability to post highscores.

I was looking at the score list for Pappa’s Pizzeria to get an idea of how many days it will take to finish the badges and I saw a few people who have an impossibly low number of days but still have 36 gold customers.

For reference there is a guy in my chat channel with over 100 days and he still has quite a few days left before he is done.

I haven’t looked at them recently, but I remember there being ridiculously high scores on the Micro-Olympics games.

Papa’s Pizzeria Has at least two Impossible high scores.

Yes, I noticed some people had all 36 characters unlocked before anyone else, yet was nowhere on the board for days played, rank, bronze customers, etc.

DTD 1.5 The 100, unless there is a glitch or something, the max score is 18,100. Technically 18,600 but the 25 point bonus per life remaining isn’t added to the Kongregate scoreboard (and there is no time bonus). So the two 20,000+ scores are not possible without hacking or if there is a glitch in the game.

Dodging hundreds of millions of spikes and people dodge exactly the same number, or a nice round number…..

Edit: starting with the 5,000 score and all of them higher than that are all nice round numbers or look like obvious ego matches with people beating the other by 2 pts, etc.

And considering the fact that the score isn’t displayed until you die, it is near impossible to quit on a nice even round number, or quit once you know you’ve beaten someone else’s score.

To expand on notagamer’s DTD 1.5 scoring analysis:

Time bonus for hard and medium-test it by just sending every single wave at the start without building anything and see how high you get (obviously not trying to win).

Medium I got a max time bonus of 2888, now add that to 4992 for the points you get from killing all creeps, and 500 for 20 lives remaining, and I get 8380 as a theoretical maximum. And that obviously isn’t possible because you won’t have time to build and upgrade your air defense, even if you were somehow able to juggle the other creeps with the 80 gold you start with. Yes, you could send 7-10 waves at you at a time, but not all 50 right at the start.

Hard I got a max time bonus of 3596, and add 6832 from killing all creeps and 500 for 20 lives remaining, and I get 10928 as a theoretical maximum. But obviously that is not even possible because that is sending all flying levels at you with only the 80 gold you start with….

So the top 3 all-time scores (as I write this) in medium and hard levels (not counting Daisymeal’s obvious 10 digit score) are mathematically impossible without hacking or glitching. Beyond the mathematically impossible scores, the hard scores are harder to tell where exactly the line is between obvious hacks and legitimate scores unless these same people have had other hacked scores.

The 100-No time bonus or lives bonus, so max is 18,100 if you kill both lvl 99 flyers (they are worth 300 points each). 17,500 if you kill all creeps except those two. The two impossible scorers (20,000+) also have suspicious/impossible scores in other categories and games.

So how long will it take for scores to be deleted?

Papa’s pizzeria, the tips (and high score which is the same as tips) is directly correlated to your rank, so people with a super high score but no rank or a high rank with no score is bogus.

Ronin Tenkai’s rank and tips seems to be legitimate. Those above him in one of the categories of tips, high score, or rank don’t beat him in all three categories.

Edit: Now that me and mcikon passed Ronin, I know mine is legitimate and mcikon’s seems legit. These people’s scores are not possible:

Shim Sukka_Free Jennatherton Mithrandir22 Bloolight GeneralGore Corkscrew_1

GeneralGore does beat him in all categories, but isn’t on the list at all for days played (so it is 105 days or less, which would require him to earn about $2,000 a day, or an average of a $200 tip per customer (not possible).

Note: High score and tips on the high score lists doesn’t display the amount correctly because instead of 999.99 it shows as 99,999.
