Your favorite moderators? Preferred room owners?

Now, don’t get me wrong; I hate popularity contests as much as the next guy who’s graduated from middle school. But this one has a purpose!

In an upcoming site update, room owners are going to get a whole lot more important. Right now, they’re pretty much just symbolic—a name next to a room. We don’t even have room owners for most rooms, as indicated by the default ownership going to Jim or Emily.

But soon, room owners will be able to appoint room-specific moderators. That’s going to be really important, as room owners are going to be expected to maintain a substantial presence in their room, set the tone, keep things lively/happy/under control, and appoint responsible moderators who will keep the peace without abusing power (though they’ll only be able to ban for one hour).

So here’s my question to you, the members of the community. Who would you like to see owning a room? Who is someone who’s on the site a lot, sets a good example, is friendly toward users, and mature in his/her judgment of behavior? Whom would you trust with the power to set the tone for a room and appoint moderators within that room?

Now’s the time to let your voice be heard.

Koko for the Lair, I never see Redstar on anymore. She could take it over if she wants to. And will there still be new full site mods?

Easy. I think Malachi would be a perfect choice. He takes the modding job seriously, but is also fun to talk to and not a total nazi, and he’s quite often in Scribbles (although you may have a different definition of often than me). But I’d definitely feel secure if he owned a room. :)

Not to be self serving, but I think I would be a pretty good room owner. I report indecency and am fairly active in the community and COCAK.

For non me people, Malachi seems pretty fair, and Dragily seems nice. Judemaverick is good actually, and Sylicas for the most part seems calm and collected. Really most of the moderating staff on the forums would make good room owners. Arcanecoder is good, but a bit too….impersonal sometimes, where he takes things less contextually and more “what is there is what is there, regardless of what is relevant over here.”

Actually, I’d have to agree with milskidasith. Dragily, JudeMaverick and Sylicas all too seem like good room owners. Although I haven’t seen Dragily around much lately, he has always been a nice person, and seems capable of being a room owner.

Malachi, Dragily, JudeMaverick, Sylicas, Nabb, Koko, and AlisonClaire are all good mods.

Well, the bigest problem for me is those rooms that does not have English as default language. An example is me, I’m using a Portuguese room but I don’t see any moderators there. It’s really hard to have a good conversation there because almost everyone in there (not everyone) do terrible things (like spam and flood). Sometimes I choose another room to have a good chat with others. I think that those rooms need someone like greg said and that speaks good english. Imagine a kid with moderator power?

Mal and Drag are great. Probably because they’re always in Scribbles with me.

I really wasn’t expecting so many nominations… (Oh, and Jude already has a room… It’s that weird one with the Ogres…)

DazB or especially Dragoness188 for Digg Mark 1. I know, they’re not currently mods, but DM1 doesn’t have a resident mod, the closest to one would be Cmurda as far as I can tell. D-Ess is really friendly, and tries to keep order, I think.

I would nominate myself as the mod of Chinese room if we can type Chinese in the chat window directly.

Ah, I see Smigbob’s already been here. Anyway, in DiggMark1, I agree with him. DazB is a real funny guy and dragoness188 is just all around nice. And she always put a smile on your face, or at least in the chat. ^_

Any of the mods on the COCAK staff I would suggest. I think Flare_X would be good, Alisonclaire… Trickyrodent is great… Koko will get the lair I’m sure so little worries there… Phoenix I think should have one, except he likes to wander around some chat rooms, so he may not like to be confined to a specific area…

I is a room owner. arcaneCoder doesn’t want a room because he’s too busy. redstar is an alt of one of the mods (Not telling ya :D).

We call them “universal mods” because we still have the power even if we’re in another room. So according to the self-created for the ease for concerned spammers, Moderator Ranks Chart:
