it’s kinda hard to tell the difference between afk users and silenced users. Perhaps you could change the colour of the line that goes through the silenced user’s name?
Awesome feature, though.

Silenced users have a line through their name, and afk users’ names are in italics. |

YEAAAA! Yes, now I can keep my computer on overnight and people will know I’m not there and stop harassing me with questions! :D |
|

Props for adding an afk system, HOWEVER on that note, I don’t think the faded text really works. Its too hard to see names, and resembles Silences too closely.(minus the line thru the name) Might I suggest a simple (afk) next to the name, perhaps in a different color and a smaller text size? Enough main stream chat services use it to be instantly recognized. |

I think the new great bango whamo boy gee howdy AFK feature is ridiculous. Why would I want people to know if I’m afk or not. You are forcing something upon us that not everyone finds so peachy keen. Do we really care that 22,311 people got the Hard badge for Music Catch 2? Nope Yer trying to do too much with something that was never really an issue. It’s confusing and unnecessary. Have you ever heard the expression “If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it”? I’d love to see all this effort go into something that’s actually worthwhile. Instead of adding all these useless bells and whistles to the chat system, why not put that effort into creating a solution for trolls, problem users, and alt accounts. |

This is like taking a perfectly new and beautiful red bicycle, and thinking it isnt good enough. So you add pom poms, sparkles, christmas lights, rockets, big wheels, and painted flames on the side of it. Which in the end makes it crappy. Afk feature should at least be optional like on instant messengers. |

Kongregate doesn’t like plain ol’ red bicycles no matter how new they are. So they’re slappin a BANGIN Kong ant decal on that baby, just like on the wall! |
|
|
haha keese, and yea Dino, it should be optional, even though I think it’s fine how it is. |
|
|
Phoenix said it’s going to be optional eventually. |

The current system starts people as black (active) then changes them to AFK (light gray and italicized) unless they post a public or private message, use a Chat action (e.g. open a profile, Add Friend, or Mute), or the game they are playing sends any information – meaning loading any of the many games implementing the Kong API may keep you black even if you are on another tab and possibly when you are not playing. EDIT: This information was from a conversation with a Kong employee shortly after the patch. I did not test. At the bottom of Page 3, Phoenix states these activities will not disable AFK status. Why many members obviously not chatting remain black has not been explained. The following suggestions remain valid. Better specifications - Players should start inactive and become active when they post. OPTIONAL: Would be nice if sort separated known chatters (in last week?) above non-chatters. === Also, clicking a name loses your place in the Chat list. |

Don’t like the italic/light greyed out that much, how about just italic or so with a different color shading? I like the badge number idea but absolutely dislike thats its only numbers of xxxxx people got this badge. It tells very little (you can compare it but still), I would rather see a % sign. Of all people x/xx % got this badge. Or maybe active people or all people who played that game etc. The chat puts you on afk only when you don’t chat for 15 min? Thats annoying, I play games longer then that sometimes, I have to say something every single time to make sure it doens’t activate? It doesn’t register playing? Going to profiles? Editting room message etc? |

The numbers are quite enlightening in a way percents aren’t(I didn’t expect so many to have impossibles personally) I prefer it greyed out as it’s more evident that they are afk, you’ll need to look harder if they are italics. |

Will the afk thing transfer to some sort of automatic PM to someone who PMs you? And yay, my “how many people have this badge?” idea went through! :D And for the MSG joke, Phoenix, I died a little inside. |

They should take Ventero’s script :P |

As I said on another topic; the new chat keeps becoming better and better despite me having some doubts when it was first released. These are the things I would suggest to add: |
|
|
@Danaroth 1. I think clicking highscore above the game solves the problem if it has a single highscore.(tested and worked) I wouldn’t mind a small refresh icon at the empty space above your friend’s highscores tab. 2.I don’t completely understand what you mean;you do realize clicking a name inside the chat will let you go there too right>? 3. As a moderator I like this actually and would disagree at changing it…. But I can see where you are coming from but you can always leave a small message saying you are in the other chat or PM friends from other chat. 4. I have never seen this in other chats and it really sounds sophisticated programming wise o.o Not to mention not exactly in high demand or too useful. 5. I guess I agree although I don’t think it’s priority. 6. Hmmm it was pointed out but it’s actually false. Silenced users are now crossed out with red and put at the bottom of the list. |
