At point 4 there is a greasemonkey script that does that.

To clarify, then. Activity in a game or activity in other windows/tabs do NOT affect the afk feature? |
|
|
EDIT: This information was from a conversation with a Kong employee shortly after the patch. I did not test. At the bottom of this page, Phoenix states these activities will not disable AFK status. Why many members obviously not chatting remain black has not been explained. @trickyrodent – Anything that sends information to Kong’s servers counts as activity. That includes (un)Mute, (un)Friend, Opening Profiles, Add to Favorites, Tip Jar, possibly even Forum and Comments posts. Also, if a game implements the Kong API and sends High Scores or any other information like statistics for Badges, that is also activity. |

Thanks Sol! You have indeed provided light. Next question. If someone is both muted by a particular user AND afk, how does their name appear? Grey or red? Italics? Line? Location in room list? |

o.- I heard about this AFK thing. I am happy to see it’s for all users. :] |
|

I LOVE the afk feature. |
|
|
I believe that the AFK feature is too much like the old silences. Although they changed the format of the silences they still resemble silences. |

I go to sleep and I miss so much. Conclusion: I must never sleep again! |

Yea, that could work fuzzy. |

About point 2 I find still too complicated to private message a user, since I have to go to the chat list, scroll it until I see the name, open up the pop uppish thing and so on. I would find much easier if the pop up tab with the “private message” link was also in the bottom window. |

@Danaroth My Chat extension allows creating PMs by scrolling through the players, first the ones from whom you have received PMs, then anybody else who has chatted since you opened Chat. As a Mod, you’ll find it useful to remember the player that called you after you change rooms since they will still be on the list. You can add or change the name before, during, or after writing a message. You can also click a name on the Friends list to start a PM to people outside the room. I think you’ll like it. (This update broke it so it may be next week before it is published.) |

MSG just makes Kongregate tastier! But seriously, thank you for the AFK feature. |

Love the new feature that allows you to see how many people have earned each badge. Thx :D |
|

All of the features are excellent! But I think, I have a problem. Some badge images have been moved or resized, for example Kongai hard badge: |

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’ll have to talk to our graphic designer to see if there is another option for the afk text that isn’t quite so similar to being silenced. I’m not promising anything, since at some level it makes sense for them to look similar, but we can look into it. As for manual vs. auto afk, I’m not sure where we’ll head in the long run. I think we’d probably like to mimic IM services that have both an idle and an away status, but we’ll have to see and do some experimentation to see what works. Also, just to be clear, I didn’t say it’d be optional eventually. I said we were hoping to add a manual component. I don’t know for sure whether or not we’d make the idle optional. SolProvider – I’m not seeing the same thing as you for dropping the afk. Changing tabs and looking at profiles does not remove afk status for me. Neither does adding a friend, muting, or earning a badge/submitting a high score. I haven’t yet checked to see if they will delay going afk, but they certainly don’t remove afk. Why do you think these actions affect your afk status? Did you see that happen? Refreshing the high scores when there’s only one stat is indeed a little annoying. I think a refresh icon would be cool – I’ll suggest that to our dev team. Keep in mind though, there are tons of things that “would be cool”, but we still have to prioritize our dev time, so we may or may not get to it any time soon. Tasselfoot – probably not any time soon. It’s a performance issue: we don’t do any checking against the badges you already have since it would significantly slow down our servers. As for Top 25 types of things, methinks you’re a bit biased. ;) I would like to see more advanced stats though, so maybe eventually. The_3lder – We did do some badge resizing, though apparently there was a little glitch there. Thanks for pointing it out, I’ve reported it and we’ll take a look at it. I think most other suggestions/comments have been answered by other posters. Oh, and Kyru – we did change the shade of red, though I think we pushed that out last time, not this time. :) Also, glad people liked the MSG joke. I feel like I have to give a nod to one of my favorite comedians and his MSG joke (about 2 minutes in, but the whole thing is funny): |
