I’ve been working on this for a while, and now it’s my pleasure to announce a script that will help you find and summon mods to quell an unruly room! Special thanks go out to the Kong Staff, who approved such an addon, to the Kong Mods, who tested and volunteered to be called, and to Ventero for some chat-hacking advice.
My script will add a modcall button to the chat actions drop down in Kongregate chatrooms. It will randomly summon a mod that has volunteered to cover the current room… otherwise a random mod will be summoned.
Browsers Officially Supported
- Firefox (via Greasemonkey)
- Opera (via these instructions). You will need to save the file as ‘modcaller.user.js’, then place it in your Opera userscript directory. Props to McKain for helping me find the right solution :-)
- Chrome (just click the install link on the script page).
Browsers that Don’t Work these haven’t been tested
- Internet Explorer (Why are you using this?!)
- Safari (Get a real browser)
FAQ
Q: It doesn’t work for me!
A: Are you using Firefox, Chrome or Opera? If not, I can’t support you. If you are, make sure you’re upgraded to the newest version of the browser and the newest version of Greasemonkey (if using Firefox). If there are still problems, disable other chat scripts. If problems persist, post a response here or whisper me with your browser and os information, as well as a description of the issue.
Q: It says that there have been too many requests. Why?
A: You’ve been a little too click-happy with the button. To prevent abuse there has been a rate-limiter installed.
Q: Why don’t the mods answer me?
A: Sometimes mods are AFK, other times they are busy. Try again. Some updates further down the line may help this situation slightly, but there are only so many mods on the site. Remember, mute is your friend. (Also, it wouldn’t hurt to take a shower sometime. Seriously.)

I give this script a thumbs up!
However, I’m too good for firefox, so I won’t be using it…and, being a mod, I don’t think I’ll need to be calling many mods

Just wondering: Does greasekit work if you’re on safari with a Vista computer?

It will be in the same place, but requires manual installation into a directory, I believe. I need to make some modifications to it for compatibility, though.

Safari on windows = massive security hole. Worse than IE.
(I don’t think greasekit works there)
