You get points from referring people. But, yes, you did get 5 points per rated game, up until late June 07. At that point, badges came out and game ratings were dropped to 1 point. Sucks big time for people like me, who joined way after June 07, yet are still highly competitive in gaining levels. The majority of users on the Kong top25 all time got there purely because of rating games at 5 points each. Had I been around for that, and everything else remained constant, I’d have had something like 3000 more points than I do now. |

AWWWWW MAN!!! Because I cannot do any of the badges now.. They are way too hard for me…. |
It helps. |

Actually, I don’t think the 5 point thing had all that much to do with most of the leader-board members. There were probably only 1000 or so games back then, so even if you rated them all you’d only get 5000 points, and even the lowest leader-board members have about 8000 points. On top of that, the really high people have far many more points than could get gotten from ratings and badges. The way these top people do it is through making games (you can get lots of points for uploading a well-rated game) and through referrals (I know that’s how #1 JayIsGames got up there). So, go bring all your friends to Kong and get them to sign up through your referral links. :) And if you’re really curious, you can always look through someone’s point history and actually see exactly how they got all of those points. |

I thnk they get points for inviting people so they do that i think |
? I don’t know how to invite people because you need their E-Mail Address right? Well I have some of them but they don’t log on anymore and IF they log on… I don’t get points… They probably given me a fake E-Mail?? Well, if I try to ask people for their E-Mails they won’t it to me anyways…. |

CoolDude – I mean invite your real friends. People you know personally and who wouldn’t mind giving you their email address. And I think you get points based on what level they get to. So, if they don’t play and earn points they don’t give you many referral points. |
To invite/refer people, you can also just add ”?referrer=CoolDude” to the end of a Kongregate link and if they sign up on that page, you get the referral points. |
Really? So I can just say ”?referrer=CoolDude” on the chat server and then I will get the points if they go? |
You only get referral points if people sign up on that page. Sign up, as in create an account. You add that to the end of a link. Example, http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1/topics/5540/... No extra points if a member visits the site. It’s only when they create an account on the site with the referrer code added to it. |
Don’t spam your refferal code in the chat room either… |
Uh, no – you need the full link. Click on “Invite a Friend” at the top of the page. That will let you directly refer people, but it also gives you the proper link on the right side. For you, it’s: http://www.kongregate.com?referrer=CoolDude EDIT: Wow, double-ninja’ed…sigh… |
?? So if they go to the “http://www.kongregate.com/?referrer=CoolDude” website then I will gain the points? Or do I have to add their E-Mail addresses and then when they sign up then I get the points. |
Wrong, Phoenix! You forgot the / after .com. Pwn’d by Cooldude |
Oh great Focus… You just made it more confusing.. |
Ignore what everyone else is saying and only listen to me: http://www.kongregate.com?referrer=CoolDude if someone click that link or if someone copy and pastes the link into an adress bar and goes to that links location and SIGNS UP you will get points! after they gain one level THAT IS ALL… |
You dont get points from people visiting the sites. Only when they create an account after visiting the site. Inviting through email is optional, but both just give the same results. |
waits for apology from Focus… |
So…. first of all, if they first look at the “http://www.kongregate.com?referrer=CoolDude” and then make an account and then level up then I will get the points? |
Wait… Then how did JayisGames get so many referrals? |
He has a website and likely has a referral link to Kongregate on it. Also please consider using the “edit post” button to add stuff instead of triple posting. Thanks! |
Sorry… :) |

Jay runs one of the most popular casual game review websites at JayIsGames.com, any time he links to Kongregate he includes his referral ID—so he’s got a ton of points! He’s referred thousands of users to Kong. |
