I know im not a perfect user I been ban like 8 times but how can you let this get alway. I atlest had a reason and then I just mute them and save me time like I just did today as well. Oh ya im pissed!

I agree. Sometimes, when there are no mods on the room, some “normal guys” do strange things. He’s a good man when the mod is on and a bad man when the mod is off.

But you can use the Feedback to report an Abusive User.

Additionally, as you said, muting is a good solution, and you can always go to another chatroom and try to find a mod. However, had I been in the room I probably would have only given him a stern warning and no ban unless he continued harassing people. This is far lighter than what a lot of people do in modless rooms. (Those heathens and their modless rooms! ;-) )

yeah i agree that there should be more mods. everyone says the van is full of mods…..uh no its not. they may be there, but they just leave their pcs on overnight so they sleep (why not turn it off??? i dont understand that).

i would like to put a name forward for modship too (no its not me). is there anyone that would take my request seriously?

What we need is a deus ex machina.

Sure, just Email it to greg (greg@kongregate.com)

Greg does have plans for the future so I wouldn’t worry about it for too since changes are going to be made, just a matter of when.

So they can wake up in the morning and already have Kong waiting for them. It’s a thing the mods like to do.

Wouldn’t greg’s plan end up in turmoil and less friending? It would be like a utopian/religious society with way too many kings

This may sound off-topic, but I remeber when I asked someone to stop being a jerk, he thought I was a mod and left the room. Apparently, the word “Mod” begins with a D now.

Report the users and the time that it happened.

I can’t say I really support greg’s idea. My problem with it is, trolls that go into the room, rate everyone down for no reason or downrate the person who asked them to stop (as I very often do) and they often seem to become extremely upset when they notice I’ve muted them. I imagine there are quite a lot people on Kongregate who do something simular to what I do.

The problem here is, of course, mods can’t always be there behind us regular users, so I think bots, with limited silencing power should be placed in every English room (simply so they understand everything) and if they begin detecting offensive and rude language being said very often by a certain user, they have the ability to silence them. Of course, so that the bot doesn’t mess up, mods will always be needed in large numbers to moderate, but I think it’ll help them out to have a bot that can do simple, regular tasks for them as needs doing.

We don’t need more mods. We need our mods to be more active.

Billy, we have over 10,000 users and a significantly lower percentage of users to mods than we did way back when I joined and we had 2k users online at any given time. More mods is always a good thing, provided you pick quality ones.

Also, Elbarto, you might have tried to cut out when you called the other guy a b####. I mean, seriously, how are the mods supposed to argue against nitrousoxide when you acted almost (or worse) than he did. You could have just cut out that part and nobody would ever know (or at least not the general public). It isn’t like there was some major offense after that, he just called you a “chikin.” Maybe I shouldn’t argue against full disclosure, but when you take the time to screenshot something, you shouldn’t incriminate yourself in the process.

I agree that there are not enough mods, or active ones; however, sometimes, there will be none in one room and 4 or 5 in another, so…

Elbarto, I think I should also point you to the behavior guidelines that direct you not to feed the trolls. What you must understand is that for mods to ban some members for causing problems, they often have to ban those who feed them. I’ve seen you do it after being asked to stop and it makes it difficult, since we don’t want to ban the supposed ‘victim’.

In many cases users can handle issues with trolls without mod intervention. Mods often are only needed because many of you refuse to stop feeding them or can’t laugh off some of the ridiculous things they say. Moderation should be a last resort.

yea people have done that to me too…. they were asking random people in “the river” chat room if they were ever raped by a fat guy….

avatar for SevereFlame SevereFlame 1326 posts

Too bad greg’s incredibly slow with appointing mods. Should take like 2 months or so.

I also agree… there have been times when I’ve seen abusive people online, I’ve reported one before but nothing was done about it. Is it better to screencap it?

More mods would be good, are there enough mods to moderate each room? Or is that a bit extreme? But I’ve had experience of going to the Van to ask for a mod to come into another room and was laughed at.

I don’t know what would be better, but it’s not good at the moment. :(

ya ya ya I know but alest I muted him before it got bigger and thats the only thing I said

avatar for elbarto66 elbarto66 194 posts

so what I showed the full thing and not tryed to make myself look good I told the full story

avatar for entombor2 entombor2 415 posts

hmm i kno this post should be moved but what if greg had a daily mod stick like he was a fairy and for a short period of time he could make someone a mod… that is, if he’s to lazy to go to said room himself

ehh i bet new mods will be chosen in about a month or so

is that whole room mod thing guna happen? I know that kong staff have been hard at work with the card game and things, so they haven’t had much time to sort out other things, but I’m just wondering whether the whole plan with room mods and voting and stuff was decided upon?

Maybe chat needs a simple status thing, with (<status>) next to your name, if you set one, like (away), (eating), (busy), (playing), etc…

Zantier is right, that would be a lot helpful to make people stop screaming on the chat rooms just to see if is someone in there ^^ (how bout creating emoticon stuff ? [totally useless, but it’s pretty cool])
