Create a new forum for Infected Fury.

With the new Infected Fury event coming out, spam has emerged on the Kongregate forums. And it’s always the same:

1. Someone posts a thread asking something about Infected Fury

e.g. “how do I switch from a zombie to a survivor?”

2. Someone posts an unhelpful, irrelevant reply that doesn’t answer the question and instead tries to slander the opposing team, and sometimes promote their team.

“why would you want to switch over to the team that sucks?”

3. Someone from the opposing team insults them back. Then a whole war starts.

“it’s better then the team that sucks HARD”
“thats what a survivor would think”
“shut up thats what a zombie would think because zombies are slow and dum LOOOL!!1”

There are three ways to go here.

1. End the promotion.
2. Let the spam continue.
3. Create a new forum for Infected Fury.

Kongregate is not going to end the promotion for business reasons, so that’s out.

Letting the spam continue is a bad choice, because the spam is extremely widespread and it’s blocking good threads from being seen.

Therefore, I think a new forum should be created. If we can’t end the spam, shouldn’t we at least try to contain it?

I agree with you, but I don’t think that making a new forum for an event that is going to take only a month is going to happen. I could be wrong.

Remember that always a new big feature as this one appears, a lot of users who don’t read the proper stickies, instructions, etc, or are just disoriented ask on the forums without even checking. I don’t think it’s a new problem.

You are probably right, a new forum would be sweet- we could even RP in there, create forum games and give a meaning to this sort of competition, but as I previously stated, I don’t think that’s likely to happen.

No, Kongregate is serious busisness sir, and this is a good way of getting more trafic to the site, and therefore better incomes. Plus, I think Left 4 Dead sponsored the event, so it isn’t easy as that.

Uh… or we can just let the Forum Moderators handle the situation, and help using the reporti button?

Also, I see a fourth way, SevereFlame: getting used to it. It’s the second day, give it a couple of days more and then let’s talk about this :P

I agree with this, there are currently 20 topics about the Infected Fury event.

Only people who want to be survivors create those threads.

I agree; there needs to be a new forum, even if only temporary.

The entire event is stupid, why do we need so many threads for it in the first place?

It’s a stupid poll, and nothing but a poll. It’s like starting an entire forum to discuss if red or blue is a better color.

I know. It’s not even a topic worthy of discussion. Clearly, red is supreme.

Even then, the entire game just becomes propagating whatever side you’ve been gungho’d into joining.

I thought we were talking about the forums, but anyways, would it be fair to say that creating Flash was a terrible idea because there were going to be lots of crappy games? No, just like it wouldn’t be fair to say that this event is a terrible idea because it generates spam.
Just like Flash, it also generates a lot of fun for those who manage it properly.

This thread is FILLED! with zombies. Anyway. I totally agree. For a few hours now I have been thinking this cause OT is filled with this stuff. Anyway off topic-I remember when I went to get an avatar for this and I was like the 6th survivor. Now I looked again and over 11000? Wtf?

But there is an actual good impact with this event, apart from Kong getting money, we get great fun. I had a lot of fun myself, and many people are having by infecting their friends and making jokes about it, like in the Zombie Horde/Survivors Association.
