I was reading the clan ATR thread and I saw an interesting comment by Sharingan123: “What do we gain by joining?”
anyways I was wondering if Greg could implement in a clans system?
Any suggestions for features clans could have?

No he can’t, the owners aren’t stupid enough to add, and the programmers themselves won’t do it.

I agree
A suggestion for clans is to have clan only chat and clan leaderboards or something like that.
Also maybe clans could be a VIP only thing like if you are in a clan you can get 5 people to join and they can get 5 people to join until everyone is in a clan…

That last sentence doesn’t make any sense.
Rooms serve the same social purpose as clans do.

Sacred Seasons has guilds and you’re able to create your own.

We’ll just pretend we’re all in the Kong Clan because we signed up for it.

Well, if there was a clan system put into the wikis for rooms, then something might work. As of now, though, it’s completely voluntary.

Clans usually promote elitism, why would we need clans in a site dedicated on playing games for fun?

It would be more for the community, such as chatters and forum posters.

You gain fame, money, and a pat in the back.

No, it would only split up the community;

I’m guessing clans would lead to there being private chatrooms and pages, and maybe some competition placed here and there for a prize. I’m not so keen on it, though, I haven’t really thought about the concept too hard.

It’s involuntary when Kong puts you in a random room when you use the website for the first time.

I’m not sure how clans would work. It’s too confusing to even think about when applying it to the Kongregate community. I don’t really know what to say, besides “this has been made many times” and “this wouldn’t work because…”.

Greg could implement this well if used in moderation.

Greg has enough on his plate, and isn’t the only admin.

Yeah, greg isn’t the site overlord. He makes the badges and card challenges, negotiates sponsorships, among other things, and he’s great for that. But for major changes to the site, I’m pretty sure you’d have to run it by Jim or Emily.

I think that clans wouldn’t be a great idea.

Since rooms serve the same social purpose as clans, as many people here have stated, I have always wanted the room concept to be expanded a bit.
My proposal would be that we could establish “Room Pages” a profile page for each room, that is a little different from a normal player profile. It would contain a list of members (instead of a friends/fans list), and where you would normally have a “Add as a Friend” button, you would instead have a “Make this your favorite room.” button.
Favorite room would display on the player profile, and the player would be automatically added to the room member list.
The room owners would be able to update a little news section on the room, in place of the normal player profile “About Me.”
Ideally, the room would also show some information about achievements of it’s members. For instance, maybe a badge case that’s slightly modified so that it shows how many of each badge has been earned in the room, and the total points value of all of it’s members combined, to create a sort of new “Room Level” concept, thereby allowing the different rooms to compete in terms of who has the highest room level. This would further deepen the social bonds that the rooms already have, and add a bit of an indirect competition to the room system that could be fun without getting out of hand.
With events like the L4D2 event, it would have been really nice to have this sort of structure, since the site is listing which rooms have the highest numbers of zombies and survivors. It would have been nice to display those on the hypothetical “Room Profile”
In order to promote these profile pages, each chat room could send a message when you join the room privately to the person joining which may (using The Van as an example) say: “Welcome to the Van! Visit our (Room Profile) and join in!” with Room Profile being a link.

That’s what I mean by clans except people could make clans.
