Dragon Age Forge- Your Questions Answered

This post solely exists so that we don’t end up with the same gigantic problem of “Whut iz thoez Z’s ans S’s for?” constantly in chat over and over again, in the form of “Whut’s wiff all dem weaponz up ’der?”. I hope this can be a reference to quickly link to for helps and for any curious viewer to answer their questions.

Nonetheless I seek to answer these in an easy Q&A format.

“How do I get to be a smith?” Well, you follow that link and you choose one of four smithing crafts- you can make swords, maces, bows, or axes. You can choose one and only one though, and make it your specialty.

“What’s the object of the game?” To acquire 5 of each type of weapon, thereby earning a badge and 30 points as well as some brownie points with your friends by helping them achieve that goal. How this will happen is explained next.

“What do I do?” Once you’ve chosen a specialty, head on over to the chatroom. Your purpose is simple: You magically craft 3 weapons a day, and each day you have a chance to give those to your friends, which is what you are supposed to do. Simply hover over their name in the chatroom list at the top of the chatbox, and select the “Give [insert insert weapon]” option at the bottom of the little menu that pops up. And voila, you’re doing your part! You can also do it from someone’s full profile. Try mine! ;-)

“Can I make more than 3 weapons a day?” Yes you can! Simply upload an avatar from the game here: http://www.kongregate.com/games/EA2D/dragon-age-journeys while in the process of creating your character and in no time you’ll be pumping out more weapons! And in addition, every badge you earn gives you one extra forged weapon to give away!

“What if I don’t wanna deal with all this?” You can simply opt out of the competition at the first link that I provided, the opt-out button is at the bottom right hand corner of the page.

“If I opt out can I get back in?” Unlike our Zombie/Survivor debacle, you can opt back in, so if you just want to get away from it for a bit feel free to pop out.

“Can I hold onto un-given weapons?” Yessir! Unlike the L4D2 ordeal, where you only have 3 (maximum) infects a day, Kongregate took after ATT and gave you Rollover benefits. As a result you can stack up on the weapons you can give out, or at least not worry about not getting out you maximum output per day before the opportunity disappears.

“Why isn’t my bank of weapons refilling?” Unlike the last promotion you don’t magically get more weapons to give out, you have to do it manually through the clicking of handy dandy buttons.

“Can I change my Smithing Specialty?” This is one thing that’s etched in stone the moment you choose it, no going back. You cannot change what you produce after you have selected something.

“Why can’t I give my friend more than one weapon?” So sayeth the humble Jim “Thou shalt not provide thy individual kin with more than one of thine weapons, for he must gain intrinsic variety of weapons.”

“Why can’t I give myself my weapons!?” So sayeth mighty Greg “Thou shalt not use weapons which thou hath by thine own hand forged” It’s as simple as that, really.

“When’s this all end?” As a matter of fact only ten days from now! On November 30th it’ll be all over…

Dudes, could ya please chillax a bit about Promo Bashing.

If you don’t like the Promo don’t take part in it and don’t bash it on this thread, it simply answers questions; it isn’t meant for game critique at all.

Just a kind request to keep it to the desired purpose of the thread please.

ah, hmm.

I made a character on the Journeys website before it came to Kong. The save file transferred over to Kong, apparently, which is nice. Unfortunately, since I skipped the character creation screen, it seems that I no longer have the chance to upload my avatar.

Is there a way around this? I would really prefer not to restart my game.

This event ends too early. We only have 10 days, which means we have to get at least 2 weapons each day. That’s kinda difficult.

I think all you have to do is go to ‘New Game’, and make a character you desire for your avatar, but don’t actually start a new game or save over your already made save file. See if that works.

I find this promo much better then the last one.

That should work, Z. That’s what I did.

Crypto, earning badges adds to your forge-ability. I think you get an extra forge per day, per badge if I understand correctly. (Dragon Age: Journeys badges only.)

Also, your weapons carry over or ‘stack’, unlike the infections/trainings of our previous promo. So you can have like 15 weapons to gift at a time if you “save up”. Just keep in mind it ends in 10 days.

I don’t believe you can give to the same person twice.

You must forge your own weapons. Unlike the other promo, they don’t refill automatically.

I believe (not entirely sure) that refills happen every 24-hours, not “daily” like the last promo.

And if you type “/inv” or “/inventory” into chat, you can see your current weapons stash without having to do any work. >.<

Yeah, me getting the Dragon Age: Journeys easy badge made it so I can make 5 swords now. :D

Yeh, their all right as long as they dont last months and months, L4D2 promo lasted to long.

That is not hard… I got 13 weapons in 2 hours just from normal people in my chatroom.
