Captain, this is awesome. I’m always trying to figure out how many badges i haven’t done and it’s a real pain in the ass. You’ve answered my prayers. =P Does the search just search the games with badges or does it search all the games on the site?
Kongregate Sidebar Firefox Extension page 3

The search currently only searches through all badges (game, badge name and badge description). I am still thinking about features outside of the badges section, but I’m just not sure if that’s a good idea at all… |
Alright, the new versions of this add-on rock, but in Firefox 3 beta 5, I am unable to close the sidebar (by clicking the ‘x’ or the toggle button). |
It’s amazing! Loading time just needs to be spiffed, and that isn’t your fault. Amazing. |
Fantastic!!! It’s really good! A suggestion would be to add a “combo box” with different names of your friends that could be saved so you could easily navigate between different accounts to see the badges, levels, etc. It would also be nice to see the number of posts in forums and the number of cards. Good job! |

Needs an option to show achieved badges by date/difficulty as well. Could I suggest using the download link from the firefox addons site as well? just so people don’t have to add a site to their trusted list. There’s also a small problem which could either be my theme or how you’ve set the loading bar to work. I’ll try other themes as well and let you know. Another thing, kill the referral link. That’s just put me off using it altogether now. Its unneeded for now. |
CaptainCaveman – maybe these buttons should be animated? That will look nice. What do you think? =P |
For me there is also no need for a referral link, I’m already a member ;-) But hey you deserve any points that you earn with this sidebar!! I must say this topic is hot, the replies of the developer are really fast and helpful, thumbs up!!! Hopefully the sidebar will auto-update soon, because clicking the link for the new version gives problems (no valid install thingy). It worked for me when i downloaded the xpi and opened it with firefox. |
maybe one for IE? |
Nice! A definite add on for all Kongregate players! |
What does it hurt you? If it puts you off using the whole app entirely just over that, then I think you lack appreciation for the work he put into it. |
you said earlier that you fixed the text under each of the badges, but for most of them, (the ones with 2 lines of description) you only see half of the button, and the text is right on top of it. any way you can make the boxes bigger? thx btw, great add-on, use it a lot |
this is great. |
This is great but it is just like the kongreguide version. |
will it only ever be useable on firefox? |
I have great appreciation for the work he has put into this, arcane. Re-reading it, it seems harsher then I intended; however, for me it currently doesn’t serve much purpose at the moment, as I make use of the RSS Feed and Snarfer tells me when there’s an update to it. Could you make it remember which view was last used by any chance? I like to have all badges on show. :) Also (probably suggested before) could you link in the friends page with links to the game they are playing and the chat room they are in? Failing that at least a new tab when you click the link (^_^) |
Impressive! Very useful too! Does it auto-activate when I restart FireFox though? |

New update version 0.9.5: - Added more detailed “Friends Online” thingy, you can now see all your friends, which friends are online (blue) and what they are doing. Click on the friend to open his/her profile, or when online to join the loop. - Added “Achieved by date” and “Achieved by difficulty” views. - Fixed the bug where you could not close the sidebar. - No more referer parameter when you are logged in on Kongregate (and viewing the same profile in the sidebar). - All links open in a new tab. @AntB and @SepulSoul, you can just right click the link and choose “Save as…”. I will be uploading a version to addons.mozilla.org soon so these problems will no longer exist… @The_3lder, an animation effect could indeed look nice, but only when hovering hover the buttons, default state should just be a static picture IMO so it wont be distracting/annoying. @marius12 and @miniwally, just Firefox if it’s up to me, at least I am not going to create an IE add-on. If people would like to see Seamonkey/Flock/Netscape versions (applications that use the same Gecko engine…) please let me know and I’ll see what I can do. @redferrariblack, could you (or anyone else who’s experiencing layout problems) please let me know which platform (Linux/Max/Windows/Etc) you’re using, and which theme you currently use? I can/will only test releases on the Windows build, using the default theme (and I will test it on mentioned “problem” themes). @AntB, Firefox should already remember the last used view, just like it should remember e.g. the width of the sidebar. Could you check if it really doesn’t? @ZeroError, if you leave the sidebar open, it should also be open when you start Firefox the next time. Isn’t that the case for you? |

New update version 0.9.5.1: - Added card counter (clicking it will open the Cards page) - Fixed some sorting problems. |
Wow. This is wonderful. I have no other words for it. Also, I am running it perfectly under Ubuntu 7.10 (Gusty Gibbons). Keep up the good work! |
One for IE might be useful… I’d certainly like it. |
Thanks Captain! Perfect, I have no more problems with this. Only thing that could improve would be to put this in the Firefox add-ons site so I can get updates automatically ;D |
Excellent work captain! Will have to start using Firefox again. Works nicely. |
Wow. Bravo to the person who has enough initiative to actually create a firefox extension. Unfortunately for you it now means we’ll all be expecting bigger and better things at least monthly =D Seriously, awesome job! |
