It really sucks how dead Flash is now. Flash used to be the shit back in the golden days of the internet, when it was the most impressive thing that operating systems could run because technology wasn't so advanced. Good thing I never dove too deep into learning Flash (I've been a Flash animator for 14 years, but never did a crazy amount of advanced actionscript or anything).

Not all are true. Everyone has their own way of thinking but I think they have to reconsider. I like to argue for the most accurate results.

Flash still works fine, and many people still play Flash games without problems on all major desktop OSes.
Flash has two problems. It‘s been declining for years as gaming, especially casual gaming moved to mobile. And it is being retired in little under two years, with Adobe and all browsers dropping support for it by the end of 2020. There’s little point now trying to make money making Flash games; existing games are winding up or looking at ways to transition to other technologies and platforms.
Yes, it was supposed to be replaced by HTML5. HTML5 is good for many things: playing video, showing adverts, displaying interactive content. But it‘s bad for games with performance varying too widely and security far worse even than Flash.

The flash professional information is very outdated, the IDE is called Animate now and you can no longer purchase a copy of it, you have to get a subscription which costs about $30 USD / month.
