Welcome everyone to Game in Ten Days #50!
The theme for this GiTD is… to **use any of the previous 49 GiTD themes**. This is a huge milestone for GiTD and what better way to commemorate than to relive, remember, and relate. Take a trip back through time, shall you?
View the [Game in Ten Days [GiTD] Archives](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4-game-programming/topics/532562) thread for the complete list of themes.
You may mix-and-match themes, pick apart themes, or simply choose a basic theme, but your final theme must be A) a theme previously used and B) incorporated into your game.
I will not accept entries that do not attempt to incorporate a previous Game in Ten Days theme in some way, shape, or form.
Because of the huge amount of theme possibilities, I respectfully request you post your theme in this thread before beginning work on your game. You may switch your theme as many times throughout the ten days as you like, just make a new post informing me when you do so. This is not a hard rule, but a personal request from me.
To submit your game as an entry, upload it\*, then either post the link in this thread or send me the link.
\*Hopefully you choose to upload here to Kongregate, but other hosting sites, such as [fastSWF](http://www.fastswf.com/), are fine.
Make sure to check out the [GiTD site](http://gitd.herokuapp.com/) that one of our respected community members, stain88, created.
With all that said, GiTD #50 has officially begun! Good luck to all, [have another complimentary cookie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrSAVmYYUcU), and remember to have fun! :D

**Theme:**
Any of the previous 49 GiTD themes
View the [Game in Ten Days [GiTD] Archives](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4-game-programming/topics/532562) thread for the complete list of themes.
**Deadline:**
Game jam ends & voting begins: Wednesday January 20th ~6pm EST
Voting ends: Saturday January 30th ~6pm EST
([Time Zone Converter](http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html))
**Prizes:**
1st prize: One year of Kong+, 50 Kreds, and a Kongregate T-shirt\*\*
2nd prize: One year of Kong+ and a Kongregate T-shirt\*
\*\*If you have purchased time-limited Kong+, Kongregate can add time to your existing Kong+. If Kong+ isn’t a useful prize for you, then JohannasGarden can arrange an alternative Kreds prize.
\*Due to complex regulations, Kongregate can’t always mail out shirts to certain countries, but will find another prize for those winners.
**Information:**
For those who do not understand the rules of GiTD, you have 10 days to create a game based on the chosen theme. Once the deadline has passed a new voting thread will be created where users will vote for the person’s game who they think should win. Using an engine is acceptable as long as the person submitting it creates the majority of the game. You may work in a team of up to 2 people. (Let me know if you have a larger team and I’ll see what I can do.)
**Rules:**
Entries that do not attempt to incorporate the chosen theme in some way, shape, or form will not be accepted. You may only work on your game during the competition period. If it is suspected that your entry was made by someone other than yourself or your team, it will be disqualified. Using alts to manipulate the integrity of the competition is prohibited. Vote rigging in any form will not be tolerated.
The [usual rules](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4-game-programming/topics/317085-gitd-28-entries-and-discussion?page=3#posts-6696821) apply for using existing code/graphical assets/libraries.
Even more rules are clarified [here](http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4-game-programming/topics/538810-gitd-46-congratulations-halysia?page=1#posts-9695464).

Hah, I like the theme and I’m glad the comp is sticking somewhat to its roots with this influx of newbies :D
My only beef with this is that there’s a lot of existing themes that will no doubt overlap with many entrants existing or past projects (GiTD or otherwise). It might be hard to tell if someone has actually just started now.
Good luck to all – don’t be afraid to post your WiPs and unfinished entries!
Also, 11pm here so going to sleep on it before I decide on my theme.

I think I’m gonna go with ‘Random Generation’ for my theme.
It’s also mostly likely gonna be mouse only with minimalist art, but because of the time constraint, not so much to be a theme.

My partner in crime will be user [Xlann403](http://www.kongregate.com/accounts/Xlann403) . He is my student and Carer.
We have decided to take a number of these and integrate them. It will be up to the judges how many we successfully integrate well but it’s trivial to wrap many of these together; the question is of “how much they must be involved” rather than “were they unmistakably involved”.
Here is the full list of all items we want to try to include, to both major and minor degrees, for the time being.
1. Earth (#1)
2. Coins (#4)
3. Ice/Snow (#8)
4. Death (#10)
5. Particles (#12)
6. Cards (#15)
7. Fire (or Music) (#18)
8. They Fall From The Sky (#20)
9. When All Is Lost (#21)
10. Ocean (#23)
11. Rain (#25)
12. Night and Day (#29)
13. Elements (#31)
14. Minimalism (#38)
15. Flying Rotating Horrors (#43)
Since none is forthcoming, here’s a countdown dingus to the estimated end of the programming part of the competition:

Edit:
Fixed forum markup and added a countdown dingus.

Hi there.
I’ve only just very recently started developing games using Stencyl. You can check out my two stencyl games (And an embarrassing college flash game \>.\<) on my page.
I’m quite interested in this.
Sorry if this has been answered already, but would I be able to enter and create a game using Stencyl?
I don’t expect to win. My game dev skills are still miles behind others here and I wouldn’t be able to start until the 12th as today I’m going to be doing a game jam at uni all day, but I would still love this opportunity to take part and improve my skills :D

I will make a retro game for this contest :)

I’ll try to incorporate as many themes as I can. Tentatively, my starting point will be:
Cards, Element(s), Fire, Ice/Snow, Earth, Mouse Only
Given my propensity to wait until the last minute to really start, I think I’ll leave it at that for now (as my official announcement of theme selection).

The theme I am interested in is the **Backwards [GiTD #36]**. Already started working on it.

I’ll be making an Only One Level [GiTD #24] game. It will probably end up having a few other themes in it though.

I’m going to take a similar approach to dragon\_of\_celts, Kewry and others, and attempt to incorporate as many past themes as possible to celebrate this milestone. So far I know for sure I want to incorporate Earth, Evolution/Growth, They Fall From The Sky, Alien(s), Night and Day and Collection. I’d also like to brainstorm and attempt to include Time, Death, Creation/Destruction, Mouse-Only and Pressure, and basically anything else I can squeeze in. I have a general idea of what I’d like to do but I haven’t started working yet, will start tomorrow. I know once I have an idea solidified I won’t be able to do justice to all of the themes, but I’ll try to include as many as I can.

People are picking one theme… that’s cute :P
**Theme(S):** GiTD [#2]: Mouse Only, GiTD [#4]: Coins, GiTD [#15]: Cards, GiTD [#26]: Evolution/Growth, GiTD [#32]: Collection
I’m pretty locked on my game idea apparently..
Good luck to me (XD) and all :)

As always I’m indecisive!
Going with Dungeon/Cards for now.

|

Themes : Lost [GiTD #39] + Dungeon [GiTD #30]
|
|
|

I’ll pick the **Ten Seconds** (#35) theme, since no one has taken it so far.
|
|
|

I’m preliminarily in, working off the theme “Outside the Box”.
[Here](http://i.imgur.com/Z7k1IKI.png) is a small concept doodle.
No rock solid plan or anything serious going on yet, just brainstorming a bit. Taking it nice and slow because 10 days is a bit longer than I’m used to when it comes to game jams.
Edit: [Progress.](http://gfycat.com/AchingPlainArmadillo) Concept art animated in code.
