I want to make some games and I tried out flash but it didn’t work out too well for me( I tried the shootorials). So what are some good free programs that I can use to develop games easily with little use of programming or easy, flexible programming and upload to Kongregate.

There are no free easy shortcuts to making a real game. Maybe you shouldn’t give up on Flash yet, but you could try FlashDevelop.

I applied for a beta for Stencyl. How long does it take for them to accept/decline the application? and if they decline it, will they tell me?

Honestly, Unity is the best free game making application ive used so far. You dont even really NEED to buy the full version unless youre trying to develop for anything other than standalone or web.

I agree with you dude!!
Unity makes game dev fun and it just works. Please give the free download a try at the Unity website. Follow a few tornado twins utube tutorials for the basics. Plus Unityprefab.com is giving away a lot of starter scripts to get the ball rolling. If you guys want I’ve made a few simple games if you want to check them out.
cheers!

The unity forums also have some _free_ things that they let you use to make games. A lot of “things” are sold for money though, but you can find some free items for a game.

I’ve been using Unity since mid December, and it’s really great. I’ve used a some other platfroms such as Game Maker and Microsoft XNA, but Unity is the best so far. It’s very powerful, and though you do need to learn Java or C# (I would recommend C# for speed reasons), it is very easy to use. Also, a basic character controller is included so if you are not good at programming you can use that to enable some basic movement.

If you go with Unity, ABSOLUTELY check out 3D Buzz.

Those are the greatest video tutorials I’ve ever seen for Unity (and many other game development tools).
