what do upgrade hatcheries do when you have a hcc

The same thing as normal, when you select a monster from your HCC, it is automatically sent to one of the hatcheries, no matter how upgraded it is. The monsters do not stack though; They only stack in your HCC, which will assign it to the next available hatchery.

So there is absolutely no point in upgrading my hatcheries, and I might as well recycle them for the resources sand build level 1’s in their stead?

The Hatchery Control Center isn’t worth building. I found that after I built it I have to waste far more time fiddling around with build queues than when I didn’t have it.
I know of a few people that have built the Hatchery Control Center and decided to recycle it instead. I’m currently thinking of recycling my control center, then upgrading the hatcheries. The only reason I haven’t is because I felt that I’m throwing away the 1 day of build time I put into building the HCC.
