> Bolt Vanderhuge is the most highly decorated Rear Admiral in the entire Space Pilot Association of Heroes (SPAH). Bolt is also the only member of SPAH. You could apply for membership, but the admission board is very selective. No one looks better hunting B! than Bolt… at least if you ask Bolt.
### The SS Venture leads the way into a combat, soaking up damage and supporting lighter ships with damage amplification and energy replenishment. If you enjoy the adulation of your peers, you’ll want to command Bolt Vanderhuge.
Depending on your build, it’s unlikely you can stand toe to toe with another ship, but paired with a partner you can take on an entire force. While the SS Venture might be billed as a support ship, it can be built to be quite devastating simply because it makes prolonged encounters so inefficient for enemy combatants.
- **Phase Beam** fires a tracking laser at a single target in range for continuous damage. The damage is poor and generally Bolt Commanders invest in other loadouts first. However, a more aggressive Commander can abuse the SS Venture’s inherent tankiness to do consistent damage and take down unwary enemies.
- **Proton Vorpedoes** are lazy tracking projectiles that last several seconds. As long as a Vorpedo is out on the field, its damage increases continuously. In many ways, they are a cross between a mine and a missile, best used to set up an area for a hostile guest or two. Bolt can even make these effective versus structures, if he shoots from a clever angle to delay the Vorpedo hitting.
- **Revorporator** lasts for a few seconds, recharging several friendly targets in Bolt’s immediate area (including the SS Venture) for a large amount of energy. When timed well, Revorporator can not only help out an ally in a tight spot, it can turn the tide of large team battles very suddenly.
- **Dispersal Shield** deploys a shield to the SS Venture that disperses the amount of damage it suffers. This results inversely in nearby enemy ships increasing the amount of damage they take. Bolt will try to capture as many enemy ships in the area as possible before using the loadout. Between Dispersal Shields and Revorporator, Bolt can thoroughly exhaust enemy energy and cooldowns, leaving easy cleanup for his allies.
### Commanding Bolt in the SS Venture
1. Decide how much of a support role you want to play at the beginning of the match. It’ll help you choose whether to only level Revorporator and Dispersal Shields or try a combination of offensive/defensive loadouts.
2. While Phase Beam has very low damage, it’s surprisingly effective against a lone enemy in an extended battle if you have a defensive loadout upgraded.
3. Be the initiator in any sieges, and be proactive when pinging the minimap to call out targets. The SS Venture is a natural flagbearer in any fight, particularly in a siege setting.
### Flying against Bolt in the SS Venture
1. The Venture is rather slow and has a low damage output. Bully his teammates away from Revorporator range and separate their forces to play to his weaknesses.
2. Be wary of SS Venture Commanders who decide to invest heavily into Proton Vorpedoes. Those lazy missiles can do up to 900 points of energy damage each!
3. If Bolt has leveled into Dispersal Shields heavily, it’ll make it very difficult to take him down and you will be more vulnerable while it is active. Either avoid him until the duration ends or focus team fire on another target.

Here is my Support Kit/Build:
3, 3, 1, 3, 1, 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4, 4, 5
Ops: Healing, Drone Rockets
You could go ultra-support and replace the OPS rocket with Command center, and re-prioritize the shield load-out…but in my mind you need to actually provide some direct damage support. You can maybe the swap out the rockets for hypercool, but I haven’t tested it out yet. If you can master this kit, you should get gold/silver every time.
Healing is the priority with this kit, obviously, and also leveling quickly. Use the OP to supplement your healing ability, especially in the first few minutes. Try to be mindful of your teammates’ health, once you have the healing load-out, try to save the healing OP for emergencies. Upgrading your laser first instead of the Vorpedos will, IMHO turn you into a finisher 2nd to Shinobi. Be careful when your auto-target laser gets to pick between 2 or more targets, however. Stick with the biggest group to maximize your healing potential, aside from that, I suggest supporting the base defender.
Fun tactics:
Save the upgrade point for your 2nd and 3rd healing loadout until just after you have used the power. 2 successive healings is a big deal.
Act as a decoy for the turret to aim at while your buddy destroys it.
Assist your fleeing comrades by eating some of the damage intended for them…its only awesome if it works and neither of you die in the process.
While Vorpedos are generally hard to direct, they do come out of the nose of your ship. If you can position your nose next to the enemies hull (which is easier than it sounds) you can get a LOT of damage in quickly.
The shield doesn’t just protect you, but it also makes your enemies more vulnerable. You will be surprised how much easier it is to kill when its active.
