OK, i’m new to this game but is crippling shot supposed to proc 100% of the time and never miss? It was 1v1 Helena (full health full energy) vs Adromedia (18 hp 30 energy) with 10% decrease hit chance so i was so sure i had this but apparently she cripple shot me 7 times in a row without missing or without it procing. Was this just a case of bad luck, design, broken, or is there an item that bumps up the proc rate to near 100%. The other guy said it was all skill and crippling shot prevents range changes but i think he thought it would do that every shot.

Firstly, Helene and Andromeda.
Secondly, you got unlucky. It still had an 81% chance of hitting, which isn’t very bad. It procs 50% of the time, you just happened to flip tails 7 times in a row.

That’ll happen roughly 8 times in a thousand trials. Talk about epic bad luck.

At least you can’t depend on it happening again. For me, that would be good enough for epic bad luck. Also, bragging rights. You can easily go along saying “I did the equivalent of flipping tails seven times in a row!” (it’s a bit of a mouthful, though ;) )

That’s also not factoring in the hit change. If the chance to hit was 81% every time, then it’s really more like

…
Roughly 1.8 times in 1000.

I’m pretty sure that Andro has been played more than a thousand times.
And I’m also sure that someone involved in a game where it did proc seven times in a row is far more likely to post on the forums about it than someone in a game where it procced three times out of seven.

procced three times out of seven.
The OP makes it sound like it failed to proc 7 times in a row, though, which is just as likely as it proccing 7 times in a row. No mention of three anywhere in there.

The point is that someone witnessing a rare case is more likely to tell people about it than someone witnessing a more common one.

well yeah, it wouldn’t have been worth mentioning if it was common you know? this was one of my first games so i didn’t know all the nuances of the game. probably wouldn’t have posted anything if i wasn’t so upset over this. to add insult to injury the guy kept saying it was all skill and laughed at me repeatedly in the chat box. i felt like phil hellmuth.

Kongai does have a luck element, but in general it averages out. You’ll have a select few matches you win easily because of luck and others you lose because of luck, but the vast majority of games will be decided by skill.
Getting hit by the situation you’re talking about certainly isn’t common, but it’s not amazingly rare either – 1 in 560. I’ve personally experienced a 1 in 5555 beads, and I’ve heard of even worse!
