Runescape Contraversy

Why the hell are people so contraversial over runescape?!? I mean, Its a great game! All you need is time and patience.

Yeah uhm played it in Elementary… what does that show. Now they have dumb upgrades to make the game more kid adaptable ? that was a bad choice 1.5/5 for that game

I suppose it’s a game for those who have nothing else to play? Which is blasphemy, they have Kongregate! <many> But I mean it’s okay for those who want to pay $5 a months to get all the perks, which is just about anything and everything good your character can ever achieve. Ah well!

It’s something for hardcore fans to stay true to, plus it keeps them off the rest of the internet. I say it’s doing us a considerable favor and just need to let it be.

Well, I occasionally play it, but it’s kinda boring, with REALLY time-taking battles, no good ways to make money, and around 1 square KM of non-member land. I don’t wanna pay £5 a month to be able to play it.

Runescape took away all the blood and gore of fighting in the wildy by PK. Then you couldn’t trade large ammounts of money, but you can now – Ish. and then something even worse came out. PK worlds, I mean, who wants to go on a world where you die every 5 seconds when you could just bring the wild People killing back. So its now more kid/child orientated and they are changing it so its more physical. Chopping wood and mining ore etc. Which is boring by all account when you can go out and do those things in real life instead of wasting your time on a cyber version.

runescarpe is a good game and like angusis9 said all it takes is time and patience, but i aslo agree with danny123456 it has been downgraded loads with that stupid update to the way it plays. I don;t mmind the graphic update but why screw up the playing. :(

The graphics have improved but it is still pretty bad.

I played RS for a couple years(basically one free and one member). I figured I be a blacksmith basically(make and sell armor and weapons), and was disappointed to find that the entire in game economy runs around leveling. Too many skills are just built for skills sake or as a quest requirement. I know some people like the quests and I found some of the stories interesting, but I would have much rather read them. I found the quests dreadfully boring to play out, and for the time spent pointless. I have friends who still play it and love it. They are welcome to it. I have moved on and won’t be going back. Do agree though it’s a great place for kids to play and socialize compared to so many other sights.

I also played Runescape for around a year, at first it was a very fun game but now, sadly, they have downgraded it until it was basicly a kid social network. At first i really liked Runescape but when i started using console games and a little bit of WoW on the side it seemed that RS was basicly the only game that could have graphics and still run on the internet(I give a thumbs up to Jagex for that). It seemed to fill in a gap at first but once you see the big picture RS just doesn’t live up to your standards anymore. So basicly its a starter game for most but to some its a game that will last them awhile.

Runescape while it may not have the best graphics or gameplay , it’s still a gaming phase that I think everyone gamer shud go through.
and considering when it was designed and made it’s pretty good.
And I think it is like a tutorial for the rest of online gaming.And most propably it’s affected every game i know in someway or another.and for anyone who doesn’t like it he is free not to play it.

Runescape is one of those few places that makes little sense. The game is filled with many people who lack the social skills required to survive in real life. I am constantly annoyed by the way that some people follow others around trying to make each other miserable. Some good things I can say are that it teaches some limited form of economy and banking, though much is left to be desired. The Wilderness makes little sense at the moment. I liked the days when you could easily find someone to play hide and seek slayer style in the wilderness, but now because the PK is all in places like the Castle Wars and that guthix thing they added recently, the only place I find worthwhile is the PK worlds, which is a bother because once you’re dead, expect to die more and more, as there is a large population of players who run around killing people at respawns when they have few items or ways of protecting themselves. The system filter is kind of bad at realizing what is a word or what is profane, but for the mostpart, what offends me about RS is the players, not the system. I think it all went downhill when RS joined with Miniclip….

FYI, the community is in no way the games fault, so that’s a moot point when trying to prove RS is a bad game.

Runescape, no matter how much you want to deny it, is one of the best MMORPGS out there. It has loads of content for a low price, a rather large free player by mmo standards that goes on forever, decent graphics for java..

Is it a WoW? No. Does it have to be? No.

RS had a couple of updates that made the game better,and a some that made it worster. Why Jagex why?! Why you made it kiddy? I hate you Jagex,make it a rated T,not a rated E.

1. Storyline – “Hey Jagex, what’s the storyline for RuneScape?” … “Storyline?”
2. Graphics – "Hey Jagex, those graphics are great! Wait, no. "
3. Quests – “Ok, go here and kill this and collect this and give it to this person in the building next to me.” wut.
4. SFX/Music – I’ve seen MS paint crap games with better music. srs.
5. Levelling up system – “No, you can’t mine this ore faster because you got killed and lost you’re rune pickaxe. You also have less mining than him. Noob.”
6a. Updates – “No, sorry, we don’t want you to give your friend a Chirstmas/birthday present. Enjoy.”
6b. Updates – “Sorry, this game is getting to mulit-player, thus we have decided to discontinue PvP. Enjoy.”
7. Customer Service – “Yes, we know you’re account was unfairly banned. What do you expect us to do about it?”
8. Age demographic – This is a MMO. Why do I feel it’s targeted at 8 year olds so they can walk up to every random “GIVE ME GOLD OR UR GAY LOL”

Compare this to the reasons why RuneScape is good.

up on your post,especially on the storyline.It has no storyline except you
starting off as a noob guy in Lumbridge trying to do quests for random people
all over the place which make you spend hours just do them all and to add to the rubbish factor……….They suck miserably.Unlike WoW(World Of Warcraft)There is a storyline which entertains you for quite some time unlike the vulgar,vague and rubbish story in RuneScape.
My rating for it out of ten would be 3/10 or maybe barely 4/10.Rubbish anyway.

Its soooo boring and wastes sooo much time. I have a life. I dont have hours to be sitting around infront of the computer everyday to get one level up or whatever. Thats why I play Idle games. lol jk

I use to play but they just kept giving us crappy updates so I said forget this left a basic F u to jagex and said good riddance.

Response to your criticism:

1. There are several exciting quest storylines, and new ones show up all the time.
2. Have you seen the RuneTek 5 engine update? Play on a decent computer, and the graphics are actually really good, especially considering it was written in Javascript!
3. Have you actually done any of the more interesting members quests, like Recipe for Disaster or While Guthix Sleeps?
4. Uh, okay I guess I’ll give you that one…..
5. What’s wrong with not being able to mine as quickly due to lower levels? That’s the whole incentive for leveling up in the first place!
6a. It was either that or Runescape closing down forever. Which do you think the players thought was the right move?
6b. See 6a. Besides, Pvp isn’t totally gone anyway, just the loot system is different.
7. Incidents like this only happen is a very slim minority of players, and at least half the players to make complaints about this are probably lying to get their account back.

To be honest, I’ve had a runescape account for 4-5 years now :S I’m proud and ashamed to say that at the same time.

Runescape can’t be denied for being unique as it has ALOT of unique features to itself. For 5 bucks a month, that is really cheap compared to alot of other games, theres alot to the game. But Runescape is past its prime though, now I think its full of spoiled prats hidden behind a communist chat filter, Nazi admins, and half retarded customer support. There is no story-line, there is a description of the “storyline” somewhere on the site but it is long forgotten to be included. One plus of runescape that has over EVERYGAME, it is very populated, and it is playable on ANYONE’s computer.

The funny thing is that most of this is band wagon I bet if you played runescape and you had nobody say this game suck gay… ect you still would find it fun I mean the games good and bad some things need to be free some things need to be changed because for being a member you get 200% more things. And if you think about it 6.95$ a month is cheap why because min wage is 7 some thing so you work for a hour there you payed runescape off and its only a monthly fee unlike World of Warcraft we will give you special ingame stuff if you give us 20$ yea spendy for a game that has no value. So just drop things about runescape some people have differnt ideas lets take Modren warfare 2 some people hate it some people love it I hate it because it has horrible unlocks takes no skill and every one thinks your rank matters… I could be a legit 10th and suck I could be no prestige rank 22 and dominate… So if you like Runescape thats cool you hate it thats cool. Another nice thing about runescape is there constant updates.
