One of the closed-off areas that unlocks the second time you get to 130-150 unlocks Defiance I, which has the following challenge:
"Kill the Beast at level 66 in one turn. Don't use any spells during run." I'm not sure how to unlock this one, as rage is kind of required to get high enough damage.

I've defeated Armathoth, but the "First Archchallenge" hasn't appeared in my rewards tab or quest list. I'm not sure if there's extra requirements or if it's just a bug.
Edit: not sure if to post here, or to make a separate thread in this regard.

Got it by waiting on scouting to get to 800%, speedups for some equipment, and a few rampage spells. Reward: Complete defiance II along with defiance I to open up challenges

How did you defeat him? Without spells there is simply no way can get to 666Sx damage before he kills my heroes.

Unless finishing defiance I and II are the prerequisites

Challenges, including Archallenge are unlocked by completing Defiance I and II. After that a new button should appear in your perks tab.

22 rages and roughly 80 spikes spent on Rampage. You can cast rage while battling Armathoth, the curse limits how many you can use at one time. (Mine was 22 at the time.)

Does anyone found out how to get in places with the "Decent will pass" sign and the associated number ?
I got several ideas i have to try when i'll have the time :
- the number is the one of max rages allowed to clear the map to open the entrance
- the number is the one of max party death allowed to clear the map to open the entrance
- the number is the one of max resurrection allowed to clear the map with losing the team to open the entrance
- the number is the one of max loathing allowed to clear the map to open the entrance
- the number is the one of max training lvl allowed to clear the map to open the entrance
- the number is the one of max active rewards allowed to clear the map to open the entrance
If you have other ideas, or even the answer...

## New on 1.41
After beating the boss on 95, I got two chat messages:
* Archmages learned to use a strange dark essence that condenses the roofs of magical buildings. You can use it to compress the time.
* You have just learned Dark Essence. It can be used to increase game speed. You will get it offline online. To start using a new feature please go to Lite Mode.

EDIT 2: After beating the Shadow at cave 110, I got a new** orange reward: Dark Essence**. It gave me 4 levels at once, pic below.

If I can add this as well:
The Harpy boss' Feather Storm attack deals PERCENTAGE damage (important!), not raw numbers to health. This means you can actually exploit that by turning off health-increasing Rewards to lower your HP values to gain viability with using Cure (by the point you start facing Harpies, you probably are able to use the regeneration aspect of the Cure spell), Protection and Rage. This is how I managed to snag three Harpy eggs, at least. That and a number of Speedups for keeping protections in supply.

Defiance is consumable spell, restore after each dark Ritual.
Defiance can Increase the max health, Heal ability, attack, armor and perk.
Challeges affect the power of Defiance, the number of casts of Defiance, and increase the dark mana loot.
A new dark equipment, Archsword, can +6% experience, after beat cave 150.

Defeat Arma in c150. You also need to have completed Defiance I and Defiance II to be able to do it.
