Platform Combat Lists

Welcome! This is a topic devoted entirely to the storing and organizing of suggestions for a revamp/remake/sequel of Platform Combat. In other words, we’ve got lists of people’s ideas here. Yes, lists. Long lists. And lots of them, too!

This whole topic is run and managed by yours truly. However I must warn you: Do NOT post your suggestions or comments here! Let me repeat that for those of you who only pay attention to large print:

However, that is not to say that I do not value your opinions! You can always post your ideas and stuff here, where I (and of course, others) can help you or whatever. For those who ignore all but the largest text:

Terms to Know:

This is a dictionary of sorts. If you see a term you don't understand, check here!



Status Effects: There are lots of effects, but most of those are weapon-specific. Status Effects are not weapon-specific; they appear frequently, and are not limited to any weapon.

Status Effects do a whole host of different things, from rendering players immune to damage for a time, to making them take extra damage. They're so diverse in fact, that we've got a whole separate list of 'em!


Say you want to get a helpful Status Effect for yourself. The best way of going about this is looking for:

Power-Ups: Power-Ups are items that give helpful Status Effects to whoever collects them.

Being "Technically Minded" (See: Nitpicky), we've sorted Power-Ups into various categories as well. There are three types of Power-Ups:

P. Effects, or Positive Effects. These are helpful or useful.

N. Effects, or Negative Effects. These are harmful.

P./N. Effects, or Neutral Effects. These can be helpful or harmful, depending upon the situation.


You want to put a harmful Status Effect on your foe? You'll be wanting to use:

Weapons: Many weapons place Status Effects on their targets. Most of these are harmful, but some are beneficial.



Players: There are two kinds of players:

• There are Target Players, who are being shot at.

• And there are Attacking Players, who are shooting.

These have no real effect on the game, but they're useful in the lists, for telling who is affected by what, and so on.



Modes: Weapons have 3 different modes. Each mode works differently, and does different stuff.

• There's the Primary Mode, which is a weapon's standard attack.


• Then there's the Secondary Mode, which is an alternate attack.

A weapon's Secondary Mode must be different from it's Primary mode, but they must be of equal power.


• Finally, there's the Special Attack, which is more powerful than a weapon's other modes.

Special Attacks usually consume extra ammo, and need to cool down before being used again.



Recharge Time: How long it takes for a weapon's Special Attack to cool down. A Special Attack's Recharge Time is automatically measured in seconds. For instance...

• A Special Attack with an Recharge Time of 75 requires 75 seconds to cool down, before being used again.



Damage per Hit: How much damage a weapon can do, every time a bullet or projectile hits a player. The first number represents the minimum damage a weapon can deal, and the second number represents the maximum damage a weapon can deal. For instance...

• A weapon with a Damage per Hit of 1-5 means that it can deal 1 to 5 damage every time it hits.



Ammo Usage: How much ammo a weapon's mode uses per shot. The first number represents the amount of ammo used, and the second represents the number of shots. For instance...

• If a mode has an ammo usage of 1/1, then it uses 1 ammo every 1 shots.

• If a mode has an ammo usage of 5/1, then it uses 5 ammo every 1 shots.

• If a mode has an ammo usage of 1/5, then it uses 1 ammo every 5 shots.

Status Effect List:

This is the status effect list, which, as the name implies, lists all known information about various status effects that have been suggested.


Name: Shield

Type: P. Effect

Description: Nulls all damage taken for X seconds.


Name: Strengthen

Type: P. Effect

Description: Increases all damage you do by X% for X seconds.


Name: Weaken

Type: N. Effect

Description: Decreases all damage you do by X% for X seconds.


Name: Invisible

Type: P. Effect

Description: You cannot be seen by opponent(s) for X seconds.


Name: Radar

Type: P. Effect

Description: You can see the opponent on the minimap, regardless of their status/what they're doing. Lasts until you die.


Name: Null Radar

Type: N. Effect

Description: Turns off your minimap for X seconds.


Name: Frozen

Type: N. Effect

Description: You slide on all surfaces, and cannot move or aim for X seconds.


Name: Burning

Type: N. Effect

Description: You take extra damage equal to N•(AD•M) where N=Number of hits, AD=Average Damage, and M=Damage Multiplier. Extra damage occurs after the last hit.


Name: Ammo Leach

Type: N. Effect

Description: You lose X ammo per second for X seconds.


Name: Blind:

Type: N. Effect

Description: You cannot see the level for X seconds. Does not effect minimap.


Name: Stuck

Type: N. Effect

Description: You cannot move. Rapidly press keys to escape.


Name: Poison

Type: N. Effect

Description: You take X damage per second. Lasts for X seconds.


Name: EOD (Explode on Death)

Type: P./N. Effect

Description: Your body explodes when you die, dealing X damage to anyone within the blast radius.


Name: Targeted

Type: N. Effect

Description: You are targeted by either a tripwire trap, or a security guard. They will follow you and shoot at you as long as you're in their line of sight.


Name: Immune

Type: P. Effect

Description: You are immune to all effects for X seconds.


Name: Paralysis

Type: N. Effect

Description: You cannot aim for X seconds.


Name: Stun

Type: N. Effect

Description: You cannot move, aim, or shoot for X seconds.


Name: Operating

Type: P./N. Effect

Description: You are operating a turret/emplacement. You cannot move, or fire your regular weapons. Lasts until you exit the turret/emplacement.


Name: Haste

Type: P. Effect

Description: Your movement and fire rate are both increased by X% for X seconds.


Name: Slow

Type: N. Effect

Description: Your movement and fire rate are both decreased by X% for X seconds.


Name: Charging

Type: N. Effect

Description: You are powering up a charge gun. You take (C•N)+N damage where C=Charge% and N=Normal Damage Taken.


Name: Hologram(s)

Type: P. Effect

Description: A holographic image of you is mimicking your actions, some distance away. Holograms last X seconds each. Can have a maximum of X holograms out at a time.


Name: Oiled

Type: N. Effect

Description: The player takes extra damage from the "Burning" effect. Lasts X seconds.


Name: AR (Ammunition Restoration)

Type: P. Effect

Description: All of the ammo you've used after your last death is being returned to you. After X seconds, you regain all weapons/ammo you've used. This includes destroyed weapons.

Formulas:

This is an explanation of the formulas used for various weapons and effects. I'm assuming that you know a • between two numbers means to multiply them. For instance, 7•7=49.



Burning Formula:

Extra Damage=N•(AD•M)

Where...

N=Number of Hits

AD=Average Damage

M=Damage Multiplier


The default damage multiplier is 1.25, but when a player is affected by "Oiled," it changes to 1.50.

So if a player takes 5 hits from a flame thrower, the average damage is... oh say... 10, and they haven't been hit with "Oiled," then using the formula...

Extra Damage=5•(10•1.25)

Extra Damage=62.5

This is very similar to how the burning effect works in-game.


What's the difference between "Burning," and "Poison?"

"Poison" does a set amount of damage every second for a certain amount of time, while "Burning" does differing damage depending upon the situation.



Charging Formula:

Damage=(C•N)+N

Where...

C=Charge%

N=Normal Damage Taken


"Normal Damage Taken" is how much damage you'd take if you weren't affected by "Charging." For instance, if a weapon can do 5-15 DPH, and it does 7, 7 would be the Normal Damage Taken.

So if a player's charge gun is 50% charged, and they get hit for 10 damage, then using the formula...

Damage=(50%•10)+10

Damage=15

Weapons List:

This is the Weapons List, which, as the name implies, contains all of the known information about various weapons that have been suggested. For every weapon on the list, the following information is displayed:

Name and OS: The name of the weapon, and the person who first came up with the idea.

Basic Information: What kind of weapon it is (currently blank), and how much ammo it has.

Primary Mode A short description, and the statistics of the weapon's Primary Mode.

Secondary Mode A short description, and the statistics of the weapon's Secondary Mode.

Special Attack: A short description, and the statistics of the weapon's Special Attack.
