I agree with moopit’s sentiment.

Although I may edit it to add: “I used to play this game because I enjoyed it and was holding out for expanded content and levels. No longer…..”

you guys are not playing along. Although there is good reason to react to the patch, here is not the place. So i’ll go ahead and vote for the essays, trying very hard to think of the game as a whole rather than all the details echoing form the last patch.

1st : Gamon666 ; This guy essay is everything I would have written. Oh wait it’s me. No matter, i shamelessly vote for myself.
2nd : marecki49 ; Pretty solid essay. I mean I don’t like his introduction or overall structure, but it’s really an interesting read.
3rd : AYTech ; good essay. Def up there in the winners.

If i wasn’t in the winners, i’d bump the two other winners up and give third to Moonbandit.

Gamon666

To be honest, apart from the medals reward getting lost, I’ve kinda adapted to the new changes. There are bits and pieces that can be changed but its not as dire as I first thought:

Anyway essays:
1) AYTech: Seriously, do I need to give a reason?
2) Moonbandit: I agree with many of his points
3) Gamon666: Stunning piece of writing, it almost brought me to tears with the shear heart and roller-coaster rides of heartbreak and thrill

I understand everyone’s frustration… the patch was not good to any of us.

Admittingly, my essay more aptly described the game BEFORE the update. Please don’t hold it against me though, the essay contest started before the update and I created my essay before the update.

As for voting.
1st: Catfish2352- I figured I would join in on the self-vote thing.
2nd: Solipsis- I liked his essay. It was well spaced and easy to read. He also made some pretty good points that I agree with.
3rd: tndud95- An interesting read. I wish his ending was different but overall not half-bad.
Runner-up (If you can’t vote for yourself) Marecki49- A well written essay. His opening isn’t the best but it keeps you reading. He also provides a somewhat different viewpoint from the other essays that I found agreeable.

Shoutouts: Gamon666- He had a darn good essay… but he also had twice as many characters as he was supposed to according to the contest rules. I wish he had rewritten his essay to fit within the contest rules because I would have voted for it.
Picuhumy- His essay pretty much describes what is on everyone’s mind. It was pretty well-written too.

King’s Bounty, King’s Bounty, how do i love thee? Let me indeed count the ways that i love this wondrous game…I love thee for thy colorful graphics and imaginative unit models and the way i so easily get lost in this fantastical world of mighty warriors and magical creatures…I love thee for thy deep and surprisingly complex pvp battles…I love thee for thy gracious and hospitable developers, who frequently and enthusiastically interact with players to make this great game even better….But most of all I love thee for the players themselves who love thee as much or more as i do and together form a cohesive, knowledgeable, and well-mannered community that makes chatting as much of a pleasure as playing the game itself…So truly i sing a song of praise to you, King’s Bounty, may your benevolent reign over our gaming domain always remain…With apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

I enjoy King bounty because with each upgrade it gets worse, and the enjoyment of it is to see how bad it can get :)

Yes… Both Gamon and catfish are right. Sure, the essay contest was before the update and the content of the essays describe what was before the update. BUT, since it was held before the update, we should judge these essays based on the game-play before the update.

I have read through the essays and I think that everyone’s essays are well-written. It isn’t easy to pick winners from these entries. Anyway, here are the essays that I found interesting:

1st) MoonBandit : This guy mirrored everything I was thinking.

2nd) jonnoc : He/she did a good job in the first paragraph by relating this game to another of the same genre, allowing readers to have a medium to compare this game with and also catching their attention. I agree with what was mentioned in his/her third & forth paragraph. Though not elaborately expounded, I think that he/she deserved credits for writing why he/she enjoyed the game. I like his style of rhetorical questioning too.

3rd) AYTech : What he/she stated was also mentioned in my essay. In other words, easily agreeable content. His/her suggestion of “friends experience” in the third paragraph was also a good one. The essay was well-rounded since not only did he/she mention different things but it was also easy to comprehend. Great.

If I can’t vote for MoonBandit =p, Gamon666 would be my 3rd choice. Sure, his essay was a great wall of text but nevertheless, a Great Wall of Text. Who said that a long essay isn’t a good essay? I mean, long essays can be garrulous but they do capture the essence of things well. This was what Gamon’s essay did. That isn’t to say that I don’t think his essay was too long. I have to disagree with some of the points he stated. An example being the role-playing aspect of the game. Personally, I don’t believe that this game has any role-playing aspect. That is not important though. Again, that is only my opinion and not Gamon’s. His/her opening and closing was also matching, allowing his essay to flow without encountering any “obstacles” A well written essay.

As for the other well-written essays,

manofwar1907 : Humorous but lacks content. More content will be good.

catfish2352 : I can’t say I like the opening. If someone who had never played this game read the essay, he/she mightn’t feel interested with it. Most of the points he/she mentioned, I have to disagree with. An example being “investing time, any player can easily amass an army of useful legendary and immortal units”. How does that make the game fun? Sure, he/she did mention that players wouldn’t be left behind but investing time in order to amass an army is in my opinion, not a fun aspect of the game and not something that will attract me to the game. That isn’t to say that his essay did not have a good foundation. Well done.

There are quite a few other great essays but since I’m running out of time, I will leave it at this. Thank you, everyone for letting me read your wonderful entries (seriously)!

With the recent results from the 2 weeks past pvp contests, all we need now is this essay contest winners.

After that, it’s all feedback and comments on the patch that changed gameplay from the roots up.

Cheers Nival.

I think they are waiting on more votes, because seriously all we’ve had are trolls and people who vote for themselves. Honestly, it doesnt make sense to glean the results from votes given by people who are in the contest.

Honestly though, I can understand where the trolls are coming from. Nival has yet to say anything about their new stamina-hungry game. We are pretty much being ignored. Also, with the whole brontaur, lake draconid fiasco… it seems like they simply don’t care.

We do care, guys.
The things you say and post here are not left unnoticed, this is the thing you can feel certain about.

Looks like we have to choose the winners by ourselves:

1st place – Gamon666
2nd place – Catfish2352
3rd place – MoonBandit

That was a tough choice. We wish we could give the prizes to all of you)
Thank you so much for writing all these wonderful essays!

sergey, its nice to say you care but were’s the proof? some comments are quite aggressive, somes are well made and clear, my comments are a little bit of each, but i never see any reply, never. we are not asking an answer now of what the game is going to be, at least a small “yes you are disapointed by the patch we will correct this and redirect the gameplay toward its former style” or something like that would be the minimum. and if you dont care at all just say it we will loose less time by connecting each day and praying something is going to happen. because we are gamers and we still come here, beacause this game was awsome, the players were awsome, and they loved to spend some of their time on this.
