Isn't this game illegal? (locked)

Gameplay can’t be copyrighted. The graphics are similar, but not identical by any means, so that doesn’t infringe either. Therefore, this game is just fine.

If it’s like Advance Wars, then It’s Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced which means it’s like that game which i think was called, Orcs and some free online game…

joppelarius, are you, perhaps, an IP/copyright lawyer? Any case studies you could point to? No? Stop trying to be an internet vigilante.

BTW, infringing copyright isn’t an illegal offense. You can’t get jailed for stealing someone else’s work and claiming it as your own, just sued/ostracized, so no, it’s not illegal, even if you could be sued and the case could be somehow won.

Before you ask, jail time received from infringing copyright usually arises because they have to circumvent some form of copyright protection (i.e. DRM protected code) or breaking into a secure facility/workstation (which is also a crime). Although monetizing MIGHT cause some legal trouble…

Anyway, this game is similar enough that it’s possible, but very unlikely, that they would be sued for copyright misappropriation. It’s doubtful though, because there’s also that iPhone “Advanced Wars” copy that’s been around from a while already called Mecho Wars…

You didn’t even read my post. There are legal decisions supporting the fact that you can’t copyright gameplay.

It is obviously not illegal and obviously will not be banned because the testing for this has been going on for about 3 months. Although it is similar to advanced wars, it is not completley the same.

as long as it isn’t the same game (graphics, SYSTEM!) it isn’t a copywrite…

hey the game was made to be fun, just because it looks like some other game doesn’t mean that it’s been stolen. like most games nowadays they all look the same kinda but are completely different!

It can’t be deleted because it didn’t use same characters (or names for similar characters) and it didn’t copy individually copyrighted names and units. I’m not an expert on copright laws but if its been out for a long time on a major website it would of be destroyed by legal divisions if it copied advanced wars.
