The year 2027 brought hope to a world on the brink of environmental and political collapse. On the last leg of its funding, NATO’s United Space Mission (USM) made a discovery on the moon that changed the course of human history. A large alloyed sphere, found nestled in a crater under the lunar dawn, is revealed to be an alien artifact containing a message for mankind. As an international team slowly deciphered the artifact, the content of this message began catalyzing a huge leap forward in our sciences. Humanity was abruptly catapulted into a new interstellar age. There are those who now believe we were not ready.

This era saw a surge of optimism, hope, and international cooperation unprecedented in our modern age. Governments and corporations rallied together to construct lunar research stations in preparation for an interstellar launch toward the origin of the message. Big corporate conglomerates pursued mining operations for He3 locked in the moon’s crust; a critical ingredient in the new stellarated fusion reactors being spun up with alien inspired technology.

The USM hosted the Freefall Tournament in a retrofitted hangar bay on its low orbit station, both to prepare their exo-troopers and private mining operators for the rigors of low gravity operations and to generate more excitement and public support for space ventures. Competitors demonstrated the many recent advances in exoskeleton spacesuit technology, and the tournament was deemed a great success. A stadium was built on the Moon soon after by a consortium of defense suppliers looking to showcase their latest no-atmosphere military and mining gear. Only ranked tournament operators were shuttled up to compete. The commercial success of these tournaments drove the consortium to innovate new weapons and exo-suits specific to this new sport.

As the space race became more and more commercialized, politicians and corporate lawyers squabbled over ownership of the new technologies and He3 mining rights across the Sol System. A far-right group called the “Xenots” denied the message was truly of extraterrestrial origins. Their rabid media campaign spread doubt amongst the public about the USM’s true motives. Graft, bureaucratic delays, and rampant incompetence further stained the reputation of the United Space Mission.

After the project to build an interstellar “sun stepper” ship suffered several major setbacks, many governments began reclaiming lunar mining rights out from under the corporations. These private contractors turned to riskier profits: sending mining expeditions to the asteroid belt and even some beyond to the gas giants and their moons. A decade later, a permanent colony was established on Saturn’s moon, Titan. In order to bolster their population, the colonies began practicing illegal human cloning. Most governments revoked the passports of all colony-born soon after for fear of clones returning to Earth. The inter-planetary power struggle escalated when the USM asserted its authority across the whole Sol System. The Titan League was formed in response to assert the rights of the established mining colonies. Across the outer system, the blue flag of the USM was soon replaced by the gold flag of the Titan League.

After years of solar civil war, the USM completed its first “sun stepper” ship — a metal ball with a design reminiscent of the original alien Message. But the energy required to make a faster-than-light jump is much greater than previously calculated. The demands and potential of this new propulsion system ignited a furious inter-planetary energy race. Both sides desperate for energy, the USM declares all Main Belt fusion skimmers Earth property and sends their exo-troopers to collect the stellarated fusion cells. Titan League defense forces are likewise mobilized, and there are fierce conflicts when these scattered space stations signal that they are ready for harvest.

At the peak of this bloody conflict, with the world again on the brink, the first interstellar probe returned with pictures from the other side of its successful interstellar jump. And once again, everything changed…

Please feel free to expand on this story for the entertainment all.

Note: Fan fiction may not be incorporated into the game.

A third nation rose above in the conflict, the very nation which sent the probe to the moon. Realizing what a grave mistake they made, decided they must end this war. Known as The Bloodnuaghts, named for the blood red officer uniforms, thought that the only way to end this war was to end the human race itself.

Although smart in the ways of technology and mathematics, The Bloodnuaghts were barbarian like when it came to fighting, and almost ended The USM and the Titan League in a matter of days. Until a lone hero rose from the ashes of war….

Well now we know that lunar base will be a ranked map :3

The lone hero, Arthur, rampaged through the battlefield. Ruining the war itself with his overpowered might, he pushed back the Bloodnaughts. Forcing them back out of the Sol System by himself, he turned to the USM and the Titan League. Utilizing the full force of his epic skills in diplomacy, and the fact that he was strong enough to destroy both the USM and the Titan League, he got the leaders to sign a peace treaty. The USM and the Titan League would have refused, as they both required more energy for more interstellar probes, and as they could not believe the pictures within the first probe, and also to improve their own side’s technology.

Hearing that, Arthur proposed a plan. A tournament. A battle between the blue USM and the gold Titan League. Utilizing the exoskeleton spacesuit technology, competitors would duel each other to the destruction of their suits. Should their suits be destroyed, the humans within would be allowed to retreat peacefully, to procure another suit, and challenge the victor again. As they were not killing each other, victory would be determined by capturing points of great import, of great strategic influence. This would, said the lone hero, train their combat capabilities, and the grand victor of the tournament would gain parts of the energy production devices of the other side. This tournament would continue on forever, until one side loses all of their energy production devices. In that situation, they would be assimilated into the winning group. Upon both sides agreeing to the tournament, Arthur disappeared, never to be seen again by the leaders of the USM and Titan League. Legends of his strength were passed down, by both the USM and the Titan League. Fears of the Bloodnaughts returning began to arise.

Unknown to both the USM and the Titan League, Arthur was cloned by the Xenots. They, as a group, doubted the USM’s true motives. When they had heard that the sun stepper had been completed, the more radical members decided to produce a new super-soldier, an epic combatant, made to destroy the armies of the USM and destroy the sun stepper. They had utilized genetic science and super-soldier training in order to clone the lone hero and mass-produce him. Now, these imitations, although weaker than the lone hero, were ruining the Tournament. They were nicknamed “Juggernauts”, a testament to their impressive strength.

These Juggernauts became a new part of the Tournament. The USM and the Titan League agreed that the Juggernauts had to be removed. They decided to work together, only against the Juggernauts, and against the Bloodnaughts, if they ever came back. Thus, the battle continues, against the Juggernauts and between the two….

Kinda lazy to continue on. Maybe I will after I take a nap and go to the toilet.
Btw, the lone hero’s name is Arthur now.
Someone else, please continue! Or at least try. I want to see what ideas you guys have.

The Xenots, realizing they had too few juggernauts ready for deployment, used its well rounded diplomacy skills to forge an alliance with the Bloodnaughts. With there cloning capabilities, and the Bloodnaughts technology, this new forces power could not be contended with, even the lone hero’s power could not stop this. Soon the humans were pushed to the smallest corners in the galaxy, living in massive ships called Space Arks. These “Arks” were stocked with enough supplies to live for years without detection. Even still, the lone hero was not found. Unable to be slain, most thought he still roamed the galaxy, and a new suit, dubbed the scout, was created. Soon scouts were used as frontline soldiers against the Bloodnaughts. USM and Titan League reestablished the tournament, Adding scouts, and new weapons which would be used against the Bloodnaughts. The hero was still lost in the fabric of time….

The lone hero, Arthur, was lost in the fabric of time. The USM and the Titan League agreed that he was so legendary, space and time could not limit him. He was said to have broken through the barriers of time and space. His suit was named as the predecessor of the Scouts, the Recon-Knight. His suit was so epic, none knew how to use it. In fact, when others had tried to wear the suit, the suit rejected them. Those who entered exploded in a blast of blood. The USM and the Titan League realised that the Recon-Knight suit was way beyond their technology. It was so advanced, you could only call it future-tech. Every attempt at dismantling the suit for the technology was impossible. The USM and the Titan League worked together to produce a investigation team, intending to recreate the Recon-Knight, or find the source of it’s everlasting power.

Upon the forming of such a team, the Bloodnaughts attacked again. They were enraged that the humans had trounced them in combat, not once, but twice. They started a bloodfest, beginning with the Xenots, who originally believed they didn’t exist. The scouts were slain by sheer numbers. As the USM and the Titan League began to be overwhelmed again, another hero appeared. This one was named Lancelot. Lancelot persuaded the USM and the Titan League to lend him a group of scouts, merely 5 in number, to take back the entire Sol System. Upon the day of the mission itself, the scouts were sent off towards the Sol System. The USM and the Titan League agreed that they were most likely to perish before they accomplished their mission, cursing Lancelot for forcing them to send out the scouts.

Unexpectedly, the Sol System was retaken. The Bloodnaughts, previously unmatched combatants in the battlefield, had once been slaughtered by the lone hero. Now, they suffered another loss, this time to He Who Shall Not Be Named. Such a resounding victory had not been gained before. Not only did the humans regain Sol System, they succeeded against the bulk of the Bloodnaught’s forces with a mere 6 people, and no casualties. The 5 scouts who returned were amazed. One mentioned to the leaders of the USM and the Titan League, “That Lancelot guy, is crazy and overpowered. I mean, we were sent there, expecting to die…And right before us, whatever enemy we saw, they perished before we could reach them! That Lancelot is an insane level sniper! He even managed to shoot down 8 enemies before they covered 2 metres, all within 30 seconds. His skill level is just not human…I doubt the 5 of us got more than 3 kills, combined.”

Upon hearing this, the USM and the Titan League were shocked. They had not thought of a long ranged unit. As Lancelot returned, they requested him to leave his suit, and tell them who gave it to him. He smiled sadly, dropped the suit, and was promptly sucked into a wormhole. Realising that he was now lost in space, at some unknown location, the USM and the Titan League leaders were afraid of touching the suit. Calling upon the investigation team, they slowly began to analyse the suit. As a test, they sent a trooper with a GPS tracker into the suit. The trooper was thrown through a space-time vortex, sent to the middle sun. He perished before he could send more than one signal.

The USM and the Titan League, realising that the suit should be honoured, and that they could produce weaker imitations, they dubbed Lancelot’s suit as…the Ghost-Ranger. Mass producing the weaker imitations, known as Gunners, they fought back against the Bloodnaughts. Gunners were used as troopers, able to utilize long ranged weaponry, and some mid-ranged rifles. Chosen as the greatest soldiers of the USM, and the greatest hunters of the Titan League, the Gunners went to the battlefield, hiding far from the foes, yet still crushing all enemies before they had a chance.

The heroes, lost in space and time, were still unable to be found. No signal was received from them. Even as the Gunners and the Scouts were deployed all over the galaxy in an attempt to push the Bloodnaughts out, they were slain in a few hits by the Juggernauts. The Bloodnaughts also started producing greater versions of the Juggernauts, operated by Bloodnaughts, known as the Dreadnoughts. The Dreadnoughts were walking sources of destruction. Although they were slow, and were large and easy to strike, they were practically invulnerable. With every strike, hundreds of Scouts fell. With every shot, Gunners perished. The Dreadnoughts had an amazing shield, capable of reflecting most bullets, and nullifying saber strikes. The USM and the Titan League began to lose hope.

In the face of this situation, a third hero rose up to the challenge…

Continue on the story! Next up can be Tank or Tech.
I have little/no imagination, that’s why I named the heroes after the Knights of the Round Table. Come up with something better if you can, I’ll edit the posts once you do. If you have no better ideas for names, let the Tank hero be Gawain, and the Tech hero be Merlin.

Maybe I’ll bring the heroes back once the other 2 are out…

As the battle raged on, humanity was nearly on the brink of extinction. Both the USM and the Titan League knew that every person capable of carrying a gun had to fight, or there would be nothing left. As they rounded up civilian after civilian, an engineer by the name of Beatrof, stepped forward, claiming to have a device that could change the fate of the war. He was called forward by the leaders of the USM. He explained his device, and said that he would need damaged armor to properly display it. The device could repair armor, from a range! Interlocking broken joints, pushing out large dents, this thing would make the suits almost good as new. Such an amazing feat, could not be done quickly.

They asked the man how he made it. He explained the system, and told them how to reproduce it. Soon, mass production of the “weapon” or device was made. It gave humanity the edge it needed to survive. Not only could this be done on the spot, faster than any other form of repair they had. It could be done during combat! Humanity soon gained a foothold in this bloodbath. It would be enough to survive, for now…

Flag Post

However, even as they relied upon this new device, the Titan League knew that they were losing, in terms of technology. The USM had a healing device. The Bloodnaughts had the Dreadnought. Yet the Titan League, still a part of humanity’s forces, had nothing special. Even if the humans were to win, the Titan League would almost certainly lose the Tournament. They had to produce something. One amazing thing would be enough to turn the tides of battle.

The Dreadnought was upgraded by the Bloodnaughts, yet again. Now, the Dreadnought, not only was it capable of destroying hordes of foes and reflecting bullets, it could repair it’s own armor. Unlike the USM’s repair beam, the Dreadnought’s armor repair tool was a Time-Bender. It bent space and time, simply to return the damaged armor back to peak condition. The USM and Titan League knew they needed something more, something that could stop the Dreadnought once and for all.

At this point, a kid came up to the Titan League’s leaders. Barely 13, the child told the Titan League of his “idea”. “In MMORPGs, and most strategic games, you have a damage dealer, a healer, and a tank. The current three types of soldiers were either made to deal damage, or heal. Therefore, what we need now, is a Tank type. A type capable of taking massive amounts of damage, in order to lure fire away from the other types. So, here’s my drawing of it.” Passing them the drawing, which was exceptionally good for a child, the Titan League thought it over…and endorsed the plan. After questioning the kid, as the idea seemed too advanced for a child of 13 years old, the kid said, “A man named Merlin told me to tell you this.”

The Titan League now had Tanks. Massive walking masses of steel, they simply walked to the foes, and bashed them to oblivion. Although they were slow, they could take immense amounts of damage. Drop one of them into the core of a planet, and it would be able to remain there for at least 15 seconds. They could assist in defending the Scouts and Gunners and Techs from instant death by the Dreadnought. However, they were unable to defeat it, as the Dreadnought repaired its armor after every blow.

In the face of this battle, another man rose to the challenge. His name was Gawain. He donned an armor of pure white. Steel encased his entire body. Walking forwards, he single-handedly charged towards the Dreadnought. The men around him claimed he was a fool, but fool he was not, for he had broken through the Dreadnought’s barriers. He had noticed something during the battles. A certain part of the Dreadnought was not repaired every time. He rushed at that spot, and smashed it apart. Within it, he found the Time-Bender. Snatching it from the core of the Dreadnought, he quickly retreated, and opened a channel to the USM and the Titan League.

He asked them to end this war.

He claimed that he had the perfect plan. Gather the best scouts, gunners, tanks, and techs. Use the Time-Bender to retrieve and find Arthur and Lancelot. Using a small and elite strike force, destroy the Dreadnought and the Juggernauts. Push the Bloodnaughts back to their home planet. Arrange a peace treaty, one which would be beneficial to the humans. Have the Bloodnaughts agree never to leave their own star system. Use the Tournament to train new soldiers, soldiers which could possibly eradicate all foes.

The USM and the Titan League agreed. There was nothing more they had wanted. To win the war, those steps were necessary. To survive, they had to win the war.

Even then, when they had tried to activate the Time-Bender, nothing happened. They realised that they did not know how to use the Time-Bender. They did not dare to dismantle it or manhandle it, just in case it vanished or exploded. They were stumped. At that perfect moment, a Bloodnaught turned up. This one claimed to be called Merlin. The USM and the Titan League were stunned. They had thought that Merlin was a human! Merlin mentioned a hatred of war. It claimed that in order to end all intergalactic wars, Merlin had sided with the humans.

Using the Time-Turner, Merlin called Arthur and Lancelot back. After that, while the three human heroes were recuperating from the stress of combat, Merlin upgraded the suits. Arthur’s Recon-Knight was made to move at speeds the human eye can’t follow. Now, it was able to move at speeds that break the sound barrier. Lancelot’s Ghost-Ranger was made for long ranged sniping. Now, Lancelot’s Suit had ten times the destructive power, and was coloured pure black. Gawain’s tank suit was upgraded to a hero suit, given the title of Steel-Titan. It was able to nullify all bullets, and repel all other weaponry. Merlin produced a version of the Tech suit, made to support the 3 heroes. It was named Alter-Wizard. It could set up barriers, project a healing force-field, set up repair stations, and project a temporary repel-barrier.

With the four of them, the 3 greatest Scouts, Gunners, Techs, and Tanks were called up. Gathered into four teams of four, each team having one of each type, they set out to bring the humans victory, and end the war, once and for all.

A few questions, its just so that I can make this whole topic more orderly and maybe tweak it a little so that it will be compatible with freefall arcade.
- Is the fan made future going to be a part of the main story?
- Does the game exist in the freefall(ff) universe?(ie freefall arcade)
- Can I tweak a few of these stories just to make it compatible?

Fan fiction may or may not be included in the “official” story; it is your story, so have fun. The game exists in the FreeFall Galaxy (we don’t believe that it’ll be possible for us to claim the whole universe. LOL), FreeFall Arcade was one piece of that, not the goal. Please tweak stories as you see fit, you might want to make sure that the other players are OK with you collaborating, if you are essentially editing their pieces. Highly similar pieces that are not plagiarizing are completely fine.

Thanks but I need to tweeak a little bit of every story here just to make compatible with the arcade and pictures. Like the armor in this topic was made one by one by the government or redesigned from a better armor. But in the arcade/trailer*, the armor were called ares armor(gunner), jupiter armor(tank), mercury armor(scout), and saturn armor(tech). But in the pics**, they were called the HAYABUSHA by Akechi motors, ATOMKREIG by Golem AT, PANZER by Sentai Heavy Industry, and the STRYKER v.3 by STO.
So my plan was to say that in the beginning of the FREEFALL TOURNAMENT, Competitors merely made these suits by themselves. And that four of the top 5 competitors were always toe to toe with their own lower-tech scout, tank, tech, and gunner suits. Remember this was a time when suits were made by the competitors and was made specifically for the FREEFALL TOURNAMENT so it wasn’t exactly made to kill people. You see, the government was oblivious of the potential of these suits because their current suits were already very strong( they also used this suit in the war against the Titan League which stole and copied them). This is what caused the Bloodnaughts to easily destroy the USM and Titan League in a matter of days. This was when the 4 big companies made their own versions of the suits, which were bigger and stronger than their derivatives. These are the Hayabusha, Atomkreig, Panzer, and Stryker v. 3(they had a lot of problems with this). But when thy tested it on captured bloodnaughts, They found out that they were actually lacking in the technology of the bloodnaughts until the hero, Arthur won the war for them and left his own SUIT. Seeing as that the government owned the Recon-knight, This was when they saw the potential of the scout and they contracted(?) Akechi Motors to make them an updated version of the Hayabusha suit with the inspiration from the Recon-Knight. They called it the Mercury armor. This armor was the most cutting edge armor at its time and was soon the uniform army of the government.
This is where I stop for now, I want to save up a few of these. Its just a preview anyway.

Edit/Note1: I changed it to make it a bit more believable.

New Story
Version 2

What the pictures revealed was surprising to many. They included pictures of several ships, each varied in shape. The probe had also appeared to have entered a hanger. Several pictures of aliens were taken examining the probe. They all had more than 2 legs but were greatly different in size. Scientists studied the images taken by the probe and were greatly confused by the wide varieties of the alien race, wondering if they were several species. They finally came to the conclusion that the aliens acted in a “Hive” like manner. They were officially named “Mants” (unsure of name but found it while searching stuff up on freefall arcade, may change).

This new discovery of the alien race caused even more chaos. The Titan League, thinking the whole thing was a ruse, attacked the USM. The USM was eventually defeated after years of fighting and the Titan League had full control. Unaware of a new threat lurking beyond the solar system, the Titan League encouraged colonization of several nearby solar systems. The new colonies were thriving and the human population surged, rising to 48 billion people by the year 2247. Everything was going well, and no sign of the aliens. By now, the Mants were simply a story to scare children.

The year 2316, a tragedy occurs. All contact with a new far away colony Sicaero had ceased. Sicaero had suddenly ceased to communicate with the others colonies and freighters shipping supplies went missing. The Titan League sends the military to investigate.

Upon return, the soldiers who lived told of frightening aliens just like from their childhood stories that numbered in the hundreds of thousands. They apparently had hysterical grins, like they were all insane and enjoyed the killing, while some other ones were more like fearsome beasts ranging from small as a dog to big as an elephant. Only 1/4 of the army sent to Sicaero returned, a total of 68,000 lives lost. This new threat alarmed everyone. The Freefall Tournament was no longer just a sport, it was now training for a greater threat. New weapons and exo-suits were created using salvaged Mant technology from Sicaero. All colonies were alert and ready to send a signal out if they were attacked. All soldiers were called to arms and posted to scout human territory, ranging 10,000,000,000 km from any colonies at the edge. Now, all there is to do is wait for any sign of the Mants…
