Yeah I know, that’s what I meant. That’s why I’m going to sell the other guys’ equipped items, to earn some cash for when I reset.
Edit: Should I only Spirit Guide the thorns armour and ring? And then buy all the rest later after reset, or should I Spirit Guide everything on Lucius? P.S. I only have 10k atm, should I get more before resetting?

You’ll want to have 90% Damage Resistance, enough Health Regeneration to stay alive, and enough Retaliation Damage to quickly kill enemies. That shouldn’t be hard to achieve with high tier items on a level one character, but you should check to make sure you’ll have enough of each. If they’re of a high enough tier, the ring and armor will be enough, but otherwise, you should put Spirit Guides in more things.
As for money, if you can make money easily at your current level, you should since you’ll make it faster than at lower levels, and you’ll have plenty of uses for it. But if it isn’t easy to farm, don’t bother for now.

This is an awesome and completely broken build.
You can start this much sooner than level 40. I did 60 ways with only 5 spirit-guided tier 7 items – didn’t bothered with searching for heavy armor of thorns. Then I reset characters again and did 580 waves with tier 10 items. I think I could’ve done 600 waves even with tier 7 items, so there is no point in grinding the party up to level 40.
Doing 580 waves takes 7 real-life hours. By the end each waves takes longer and longer to beat since they have to hit you two or three times to die.
I actually can’t figure out where my 90% damage protection comes from. When I look at Lucius from inventory screen it says that I have 21% DP. Added to that 30% from EoP and you have 51% DP. But when I inspect Lucius during the battle, it says that he have 90% DP. Does the armor rating add to DP somehow?

Yep in my guide it says you can start this at level 20 (tier 6 – 7 gear).
By the end of 580 waves what level did you reach? Should be around 200 (assuming you only used 1 character in your party).
If you done the 580 waves with a 4-man party, reset characters and do it with just 1 character. Once you hit lvl 150 – lvl 200, buy new gear and farm as many waves as possible in act IV with 2 characters (highest lvl and a lvl 1). Give the lvl 1 a wisdom ring, and watch him explode into levels above 1,000.
I’ve found that each 100 waves takes 1 hour, aslong as you 1 hit all enemies. When they need 2 or more hits to die then your gear isnt up to date.

Lucius is level 138 after 580 waves. One character party, started at level 1.
I just finished gambling for heavy armors of thorns and legend-sparked everything except shoulders and legs. I had 2 SoL from normal playthrough and only got 6 more from 580 waves. Hopefully second time will be better.
DP bonus was from beginner’s difficulty, so nevermind that. Nope, not from difficulty. Anyway, I now have 64% DP from items +30% from the potion, so it doesn’t matter anymore.

580 waves = 116 dimensional pockets, should have yielded about 11 – 12 sparks.
50 waves = 10 pockets, should have only yielded one shard. i guess luck is on your side today :p

Damn my Lucius doesn’t have enough retaliation damage because I bought the equipment at level one… >.> I have to keep resetting the character to level 1 so it works.
Also, I recommend AutoHotKey (it’s a computer macro).
Just write a script like:
F1::
Loop, 99999999 {
Send, {SPACE}
Sleep 1000
}
(Press F1 to Press Space every second (1000=1sec, you can edit this if you want to lower but it might overload the computer), looped 999999999 times or whatever you want.
And then to stop it:
F11::
Exitapp
Just press F11.
Good luck, remember to set the graphics to low!

I don’t know why your in-battle stats would appear different than your character screen stats, but Damage Resistance is based on your character’s Armor value. I could provide an exact formula if you’d like (I forget it offhand, so I’d have to check what it is again), but basically, the higher the ratio between your Armor and your level, the higher your Damage Resistance will be.

If you get enough (1000) Renown, you’ll gain access to an item in the Emporium which increases the tier of an item by one. You can use that, combined with Spirit Guides, to make your gear much more effective.

I think the trollsblood potion is better because itt doesnt affects the enemy lucius but the Martyr’s signet does and itt would take a while to take him down because he is sometimes not attacking me just adding buffs to his allys and because of that he is regening health a lot and there is a ragebringer on his back (or in the back row should say) and he is adding buffs to him and that kind of stun and sometimes he is skipping turns but it’s not impossible to kill him (i mean you can kill the ragebringer by using smite but i am just too lazy for that and i just let the skip turn strategy to kill him)

Digestive Acid:
31 damage per second (at level 43)
-20% Damage Protection
-5 Evasion
Cancels retaliation damage

Got this timed debuff today from Act IV, those small Devourer-something, the black blobs that later evolve into Greater Devourer (those balls with a big mouth and four arms). Is it new? Seems it could kill the retaliation-autopilot-builds if they keep recasting it.

Okay, first time I ever noticed it though.
I made a try at this retaliation build. I came to the conclusion that Spiked xx of Thorns is best in every slot, except for Weapon (Barbed Brutalizer), Shield (Doomwarden) and Chest armor (Equinox Robes). Note that this is for when all of your equipment is “sparked” with Spark of Legend. The reason is that if you keep the Cloak and/or Ring non-thorns you will not have enough retaliation for Thralls and some other mobs to 1-shot themselves. The regeneration from the ring and protection from the cloak is not needed if you use potions for 30% prot and 5% of hp regen. I did need to use 6x Rune of Protection to reach 60% natural damage reduction, but once you have all-sparked equipment getting those runes shouldnt be a problem :)
