IMPORTANT – This script is ONLY for Kongregate users and not for Facebook users. This Script provides some of the missing functionality that exists for Facebook users already.

Script Summary: Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper.

This Script improves the Wild West Town game on Kongregate by removing the need to “refresh and reload” when clicking a link in chat.

Installation instructions: Instructions for Chrome and IE are below.

For Firefox users:

First you will need to install the Greasemonkey add-on which can be found here:

Greasemonkey in itself does nothing to a browser except to run additional scripts that you choose to add and install.

Once Greasemonkey is installed and Firefox is restarted, download the file located here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/139112 and drag the file onto any open Firefox window and Greasemonkey will auto install the file.

Load Kongregate and play as normal.

Firefox Install in Pictures.

Install Greasemonkey
Click the following link https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ and press add to Firefox

A new window will pop up, click “Install Now”

Once installed you will see a notice that installation will finish after restarting Firefox.

Once you have restarted you will now see the Greasemonkey icon on your browser window next to the options icon. This confirms you have installed correctly.

Now download the script – http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/139112

Click Install

Greasemonkey will auto open a new window, once again click install.

You will then see a confirmation that the file installed correctly at the bottom right of the screen.

Close and reopen your browser and play as normal.

For Chrome users:

First download the Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper file located here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/139112

Next open Chrome, click the tool options icon and from the options select Tools and then Extensions. Alternatively copy paste the following link into your browser: chrome://chrome/extensions/

Drag the downloaded Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper onto the extensions page and a option will pop up at the bottom of the screen to install the file. Follow the prompts and the file will install normally.

Chrome Install in Pictures.

First download the Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper file located here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/139112

Next click install

At the bottom of the page, you will be given the option to continue or discard, click “continue”

You will now see a box pop up in the middle of your screen. Click “add”

The box will vanish and you will see a confirmation message at the top of the screen to the right explaining that the file has been added to chrome.

You can check this also by pressing “options – tools – extensions”

And you can then see if it is enabled and options to remove if required.

Once installed, close and reopen your browser and play as normal.

For Internet Explorer users:

First download the Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper file located here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/139112

Much like Firefox requires the use of Greasemonkey to run separate scripts IE uses Trixie instead. You can find it here: http://www.bhelpuri.net/Trixie/

Once you have Trixie extension enabled in IE, download the Kongregate Wildwest Town Link Helper and copy paste the script into bhelpuri’s script directory found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bhelpuri\Trixie\Scripts.

Then, go to the Tools menu and select “Trixie Options”. This will show the Trixie Options dialog where you can click on the “Reload Scripts” button and select Ok. This will load your new script and enable it.

DON’T DOWNLOAD – - I loaded it and my computer kept freezing. I had to open in safe mode and uninstall for my computer to operate correctly. Maybe it was my fault and I didn’t install it correctly, but my laptop is working fine now.

For FF: Install Greasemonkey and then ‘Install’ the script from the link given (top right hand corner, small green button)

You don’t need to click ‘Download’ for anything (that’s just an advert)…

Install Link (if you already have greasemonkey installed)

Works fine on Firefox. When does the click register though? As soon as the link has loaded, or when you see the gift received message?

I did as explained with IE, but it still loads a new tab every time I click a link.

The instructions for chrome don’t work. When I click install, it tells me that extensions outside of the chrome web store are no longer available. I tried it for firefox, and it worked, but the game now seems to run incredibly slow, to the point where it has become unplayable.

Edit: Worked out how to solve the problem on chrome.

1. Install the file, then click the “Show in folder” button.

2. Open up Tools > Extensions, then turn on developer mode.

3. Drag the file on to the extensions page, and click “Add”

4. Restart the browser

Why not make a script that just loads a popup and DOESN’T reload the wildwest town page every time?
You/thegame, have a scriptpopup that publishes when you complete a quest or when you level up. Why not make the same work for chat links?

What happened to the “link helper script” I have it but now it refreshes even the chat?
Why not do like another poster said and just make a popup and not reload/refresh the page,
wwt or chat????

Forcing a new tab to load the game again upon any link being clicked is one of the very worst elements of this game. It’s offensive and irritating and should be changed immediately, if not sooner.

JMO. :-)

I’m running Safari, so to run this script I have to install NinjaKit and then Greasemonkey and then this script. If I wanted to do a whole bunch of installation I’d be running Windows.

The game designers should have included this functionality from the beginning IMO.
