Why is Popo supposedly the most epic card in Kongai?

Because of Popo’s ability to randomly one- or two-hit most of the cast. Because of Slingshot’s high crit rate.

I’m assuming because he was the one card so few people had, but wanted.

He is pretty good. He has no overwhelming weaknesses; he can hit every element at every range, he has at least one point of resistance to every element (except physical, which he has a 25% evasion for instead), he has a technique that functions even if the enemy swaps out, and he has a technique costing 20 or less that works at any range so the enemy can never be sure you won’t attack. Plus he can, in theory, do damage quickly.
But he’s also unreliable; he has fairly low hit rates on all his attacks, and unless he gets lucky with slingshot he can’t kill anything quickly. On top of this, he has among the lowest HP in the cast, so he’s vulnerable to being one- or two-hit himself, particularly if he fails his evasion chance. He also lacks a strong multi-hit attack, so he can’t exploit anyone else’s weaknesses effectively.
I still think he’s very good, because Kongai’s rock-paper-scissors system makes someone who is unpredictable very valuable, and Popo is certainly that. None of his abilities are weak, and he will almost always have multiple options open to him aside from swapping out, intercepting, and resting.

Popo with Feather is a strong choice against most physical tanks.
Remember that hit chance and crit chance are rolled at the same time – if you had a 50% hit rate and a 50% crit chance, every time you hit, you would score a critical.

It’s a joke. Popo is small, and plain, so they sarcastically called him ’epic".

Yeah, that was my intention. I guess I was maybe a little too subtle with this.
Popo is pretty good, though.

I don’t know if I should tell you guys this, but Popo is a (relatively) weak character who doesn’t fit particularly well into any deck, and isn’t good for anything that many other cards don’t already do much more effectively. He’s a funny little card to play in a few prop decks, but I always smile when I see I’m up against a Popo, since I’m about 95 percent certain I’ll win after that. (Which is probably close to my win percentage against Popo decks too, especially since the Gemcraft challenge)

Yeah just look on the back of the card. And Popo is a pretty decent card if you have the right item and use him at the right times. jk. It can only be done in the deck builder in Kongai.

You can’t flip the cards without access to the deck-builder. There’s a few fansites with comprehensive coverage of what attacks each character has, but I have no idea where they are.

Here’s one Kongai card list but it hasn’t been updated since the last Kongai update.
Anyway you’ll get quite a good idea of which kind of abilities the characters have. You can compare them to Sirlin’s changelist here.
Current version is 1.8 and the card list above is version 1.7.
