IDK man, I guess one way to keep people coming back is if you weren’t a dick.
I mean, telling people how to play the game the way YOU want them to…?
Telling people if they don’t fly a ship as a bomber, or another ship as a fighter, or another ship as a healer, then they’re a newb? That doesn’t create a game worth playing. No one is trying anything new. No one is challenging the status. No one is even trying to take out turrs with Venture anymore. Venture is GREAT for doing it! But no one does.
Why? It’s people like you with a limited imagination but who are very skillful and therefore think this SANDBOX of a game must conform to YOUR expectations or YOU will be a dick.
Just saying…
To you…
Dickhead.

in other words…
Don’t be so rigid in how you want the game to be played…
And let the game be played with experimentation or novel approaches in mind.
You can’t tell people HOW to play a game, keep them confined to behaviors, and expect them to have fun once they’ve master “That one ship, doing that one thing, over and over again, inflexibly”. That’s not fun. That’s a JOB.

A job if you get paid. not a job if you don’t. Might be a valid description of an OCD spectrum type though.

Being successful within Kongregate is not necessarily a sign of their capabilities outside of it, Masakarii, they aren’t related.
Working within the confines of Kong means a certain amount of revenue is being taken by Kong that may make the difference. Also, if Kong isn’t promoting them through OUR (the fans) efforts then it doesn’t get seen unless Kong is paid to promote it.

Beeing succesful in what?
The game sucks hard atm. Or why do you think nobody is playing it anymore?
Or you really think that promoting this stupid PVE game will make it more popular and better?
Its already full of abusers and you dont even recognize it.
I can play 6 Accounts together, giving me a Score of 20k in one game. 100+ kills in 1 game. And and and. Like some others already did. And nobody of the DEV´s would care about that.
You really think that AFK Players in your team are real? Those are very often second accounts, logged to weaken the Enemy team. Thats all.
But as long as this game sucks so much i dont care about it and let Players like you dreaming

Wow, you’re amazingly angry and dismissive aren’t you? What the Hell happened to you?
It’s a game. Perhaps there are people who take it too seriously. As for this devious conspiracy you’ve brought up where ppl are putting in fake accounts just so they can weaken other teams or play others at a lower level…
That really doesn’t add up as a reasonable use of time & resources does it? I mean, if someone is so dedicated that they’ll go through the trouble to spoof, hack, abuse, a FREE GAME on a free service, just so they could troll others, that’s an amazing amount of effort just so they could get the rush of having “gamed the game”.
That percentage of ppl would be super small and negligible.
I’m just going to say your anger/frustration at the game, as well as Pwndnoob’s frustration at the game, represent an extreme on the far end. Not one of “purist” or “loyalist” but people who have a view that everyone who plays must play in specific ways. In Pwndnoobs, ppl must play roles or he’ll rage-scream/rant at them. You have expectations of ppl taking the game more serious than the average person is capable of.

We aren’t developers. We can’t dictate anything about the game. We’re consumers. Yeah, we can toss in our hats, but to imagine we should have more “sway” and rant, rave, proclaim it’s early demise, etc. is not being a consumer, it’s trying to be the creative director.
I enjoy the game as it is. It has some flaws I trust they’re looking into. It doesn’t suck. What sucks are people who act like the game OWES them something.

Masakrii, if you don’t like it, then bail. Don’t ruin other’s experiences. There are some of us that aren’t haters. That actually LIKE Vorp. There are some bright minds here. Don’t ruin that please. Go find a game that suits you, so you don’t dish your BS at others. Nobody likes over critics, and/or haters like you. So don’t ram in, it just makes more people hate your decisions. This is not a place to hear your day-to-day crap.

You want the game to fit your world and are so angry that it “used to” but now doesn’t. Perhaps the reflection should be why it “used to” but now doesn’t? How much has the GAME changed versus how much have the PLAYERS change the way they play it?
So many times, when a game community matures, you begin to develop these set ideas about how the game should be played, who should be on what teams, and a bunch of rigid unwritten but socially-enforced “rules”. Then the game becomes boring because no one is doing anything different. The only “fun” is going through the motions. No one is exploring things anymore.
…and I USED to think you were a cool person Masakarii, now you’ve changed to something I just don’t recognize.

While I agree that the game should incorporate a few tweaks to help balance out the leavers and obvious skill disparities, the game is fun. All of this complaining is getting in the way.

You will enver understand it or?
you are one of 20 Players left in this game.
1 of those 20 who likes the game like it is atm.
There were over 200 playing the game permanently before you found it.
Those 200 Players left becasue the game changed from PVP to PVE.
Can you understand my words now?
You are the tiny part of Players who like this crapshit.
The most Players dont like it anymore.
Most of new Players wont like it, too.
Players like you ( the tiny base of Players ) destroy every opinion of Players like me ( the most Players who liked the PVP part )
with your useless harassment.
If you still dont understand me. Please try to explain me why there are just 20 Players left in lobby anymore.
From around 10000 who already tried this game out, of course

See, this attitude? This is what I’m talking about. I was one of the originals who’s been playing for a long time. This is where I know you from. I remember there only being 5 ships. I remember when there were no tech, no options to buy any upgrades, before XP was meaningful.
But no, you’re acting as if this is YOUR game… as if this game owes YOU something.
Players like you ( the tiny base of Players ) destroy every opinion of Players like me ( the most Players who liked the PVP part )

And then, as if you seem to not even care who you’re talking to, it seems like you’re accusing me of being a PvE, or base-killer-focused player. Uhm… I’m not. In fact I run into flack for being a PvP-based Ant.
And yes, this means I run into people like Pwndnoobs, who expects Ant to be a basekiller and not a PvP because he wasn ’t around when there were only 5 ships for months and battles maxed at 3v3. So every ship was versatile. There were no “roles”.
But you? You’re just mouthing off. You’re blaming the developers because people are playing “roles”, because people aren’t PvPing as much and instead have dedicated tactics just to destroy bases. That’s not a problem for the Devs it’s a problem for the community.
When you have people who throw a fit because you aren’t attacking the base in THEIR way it makes the game unfun. Instead of them exploring new ways to do stuff they rely on people playing a role THEY expect.

duemellon when there were 5 ships there were still roles, however those roles were more flexible. For example the SS was a support/siege ship (remember how powerful the vorpedoes were), ant still kinda fit into the same role it is in today etc. How ever the PvP focus back then was part of the reason why the roles were so flexible, the reason the SS was such a good siege ship is because it needed the vorpedoes to get kills, there fore it was more flexible. However I am not one of those people who says that people need to be this role or that role. Instead i expect the members of my team to be flexible, if an ant needs to PvP in order to win, do it. If the same ant needs to switch to PvE to win I expect them to do it (I hold myself to this same standard as well). Now i realize my expectations are unreasonable, considering how people train to be just one role in a ship, which I suspect is why people keep on leaving this game. People think its a very role based game, and while it is, the roles can easily switch. For example while I am in Hirudo, i can easily kill a battery installation in slightly longer time than an ant, while not having to run from opponents that come after me. Hirudo as you all know is very focused on PvP and destroying drones. It is its most useful purpose, however I have changed a game that my team was losing because I went and destroyed the emitters/batteries by myself, leaving my team to defend or destroy other batteries while I distracted. This is what people should strive to do not be in a ‘role’ because you being in that ‘role’ can cause your team to lose, while if you were a bit more flexible you could have won.

I tried to find you some2where in the tranking list.
I cant find you. That shows me 2 things at first:
You are a very very bad Player who cant learn out of 500 matches.
Or you are a Player who dont care about winning a game. A Player who just want to play a bit. Diing here, diing there and sometimes a kill to be happy ( it cant be the difference because you are NOT in the rankings ).
Whatever if answer 1 or 2 is right. There is the point that you CANT talk about the gameplay problems because you dont recognize them with you gameplay.
I never saw you in the first weeks of the game. The time where it was massive PvP. I think you got killed to often. That destroyed your fun and you didnt play the game a lot.
That shows me again that you cant talk about the gameplay because i played a lot in the beginning of the game and i never saw you – like i said before.
But you are right with your first quote. I thought you are a PVE bob. You arent. You are one of the first 2 characters i figured out.
Now to the second quote. Blablabla Blabla.
I cant talk with you about balancing because you have no clue how the game works. How the mechanics works. How whatever else in this game works.
Its the same like with TAO. I talked with him in another thread over a couple of pages. In the end he found out that he played Circe over a couple of weeks without the most important skill ( ghostfield ). He got owned permanently and i said everytime Circe is OP.
Then he did what i said and he owned the Players hard.
The Developers followed that thread. They noticed my experience and nerfed ghost field 2 weeks later.
What do you think why they did it?
Klackerer now is talking about Hirudo Battery killing.
He has no real clue what he is doing.
I can go with a Dreadnaught level 1 and can start killing the Enemy base when the Enemy team sucks like hell.
And after that match i can say im the Big King killing strcutres with Dreadnaught. Dreadnaught is a structure killer blablabla.
I can say that Hirudo is ONE OF THE WEAKEST Battery killer. Because it takes TO MUCH TIME! And every Enemy Player who is same skilled in the game will get you off from that Bat while you lost 1 Minute matchtime on it for nothing + a lost Deport OPS ( and i bet my ass that he is using Deport most of the time when an enemy Player comes ). In the same time you are able to hold 3 Enemy Players on your Hirudo ( and sometimes killing all 3 ) when you just stay in the middle of the Map.
Thats called tactical skills!

About Ghost Field… while it’s usefulness is with regards to maneuverability so it can move around better, it was OP in the sense that it was doing something not intended and was doing more than what it can do, which is to remove all negative effects regarding movements. (More of a good bug/exploit issue)
When you talk about nerfing for balance, Undulorean’s Future Rip & Angel Fire’s overall capabilities are the biggest hit. Future Rip’s short cooldown makes it very good for escape while it also gives them a very powerful offensive skill that can easily be spammed and trap players easily (which initially was intended to be a defensive mechanism). Angel Fire was just a damage machine, able do just too much damage in a short amount of time and among the best chasing capabilities (via Ventilate) and a pre-undu-like escape mechanism (Trail Blazers). They returned most of the damage from the Vorpal burners, but they removed the DoT of the ventilate (was a big reason for the heavy damage, 2 separate DoTs are just painful), while retaining the slow (which is important in chasing). Though they still need to change that achievement of Ventilate deaths because of the change.
