First of all, please do not just rage quit this game just because you got killed over and over by a veteran player. (cough cough) Just because the matchmaking sucks because of the sudden influx of newbies does not mean that the game sucks.
Tips- Feel free to comment and add on.
1. Don’t be too aggressive unless you are completely sure of your safety.
2. Look at the minimap often.
3. Find one ship that suits your playstyle and practice, practice, and practice.
4. Make sure to go the depot especially when you have a full cargo of ATOMs or are low on health. Even if you have a few hundred atoms, still go to the depot. Also, half health is when you should really start to think about going back to depot.
5. If you are dying alot, consider playing as more of a support ship such as SS Venture or Iron Wolf. Or just play supportively and defensively.
6. Never take down turrets by just sitting right in front of them. Rick:DON’T stand in front of them or they will kick your butt in two seconds. To just add on to this, make sure to stay safe while attacking it. But jabberwocky can sit in front of a turret and deflect bullets off his blade and just keep sending shrapnetic bladies at the turret and not take any damage. Either camp behind a wall like a circe or IW, or stay far away like an ant or undul.
7. Communicate with your team.
8. Try not to die, it only gives the enemy team lots of farm.
9. Make sure to try the ship out in practice mode before in order to get used to the various abilities. Also assess your opponents in live match before engaging. For example, an ant should not pick a fight with a dread. Rick: Just don’t pick fights unless you know how to kill the other guy. (Very true)
10. Have fun and don’t camp around. Be active, whether you are playing defensively or offensively. Don’t be depressed by losses. You need losses in order to gain experience.
11. Learn the map. Bumping into things may be the difference between escaping and dying.
12. For certain ships, going reverse and shooting is much better than just turning around and going full afterburners. This applies mostly for ant and undulorean.
13. Certain ships are harder to master than others.
I am not exactly the best player in the game but I am decent. This post is open to questions and comments.

I think that we should form a group where vets all team up with newbies to show them how to play.

For #4, I’d say got to depot if you have even 1/2 a cargo of atoms.
for #9, learn
11. Learn the map.
12. Even if you’re sure your team will lose, just take the time to practice.
13. Use reverse. Shooting while backing up can either get you a kill or drive the enemy away. Just flying away can often get you killed.

For #13: not all ships should use reverse thrust, know those ships.

@ klackerer, it would depend on what ship is coming after you more then what ship you have. If the other ship has more range then you backing up is bad.

#14: Iron Wolf is not a ship to be played unless you are willing to practice longer to master it than other ships. (Say maybe ~1 month-2 months)

The Undulorean is a great ship to start off with. You can escape quickly, become invincible for a short period of time, and the machine gun spreads, so you don’t have to be too precise.

not at all, ive seen someone new go on to get the bronze in the IW. all ships have a feel. speed/turn/attack.. that being said i feel that some ships take longer to get used to but no need to spend more than 20 matches trying to get good with a ship. after 25 matches if you can’t hold your own in that ship then its not right for you and you start over

Theres no invincibility for undu. Time flux makes vorpedos your greatest enemies. When Time flux ends, vorpedos fly 500km/h and hit you.

Regarding 6: Learn how your ship reacts to turrets, (a jabber with sharper blades can sit in front of a fire or laser turret, a dread can do heavy damage by sitting in front and dropping mines, a clank can drop a wall on a turret to confuse it)

If you want to get a bit better, play a few solo games with some of the ships. You dont need to finish them, but you will get a good idea of the loadout progression, and what the ships might be good at(offense, defense, pvp, crowdcontrol, pve, skirmishing, hit and run, tanky etc.)
Again, you dont have to finish the game, just press esc ( if in full screen, go to window mode by pressing esc, then press it again for the menu)
Tab brings up the current score, tab again and it closes it.

Meh, I’ve taken on plenty of dreads with ant, should delete that part but leave the rule ;P

But taking dreads with an ant isn’t something a new player should try to do. Us pros can do it but not them.
