I’ve done a rather senseless experiment. I’ve bought a Cubby and captured one at the same time. My character is level 16, so the wild cubby started at level 16. Then I trained the one I’ve bought till it reached level 16 too.
Why cubby? 25 tokens, cheap enough, selling it will almost repay the price.

Guardians bought in stores start at level 1 regardless of character level. I never used boost points. The wild cubby is a bit weaker than the trained one. Strangely enough, it has better special defense.
Don’t ask me why I did this.
