Now go read/watch Gintama to truly be inspired. You’ve seen nothing yet.

Even better. It’s like a fusion of the greatest aspects of all the genres.

Oh that’s right. Since I’m done with kanon I’m thinking of finishing the last of Key’s anime I haven’t seen which is Air. Think I should go for it? I liked Kanon but it seemed too similar to Clannad. (I like Clannad better though) And I think Air is also similar. Any suggestions besides that or just go with it?

Anime isn’t just movies. In fact, most anime isn’t.

the last anime movie i saw was, i think, ah my goddess like 4-5 years ago. i tend to skip movies since they are generally unrelated to the plot.

My thought. I can’t think of any anime movies I’ve seen besides the Clannad one, and that was only after seeing the TV series.

You watch dubbed and thought it was good, your opinion is invalid.
Honestly anime movies confuse me. Sometimes they come first, sometimes after, sometimes to fit TV series and sometimes independent.

Meh, I tend to avoid most anime series based movies. They tend to be annoying/convoluted/boring/disappointing. I do watch anime style movies that are independent of anime series occasionally though (like Spirited Away).

Some animes and movies are based on the same source (Clannad and Toaru Majutsu no Index for example, are both movies and Tv series)
But usually movies based on anime series are bad IMO (Gurren Lagann Movie)

Yeah, it all depends on the source material (in this case, VN’s and Light Novels, respectively). Yay for making things even more confusing :P!
Edit: I think that if the movie is a spin-off instead of a re-imagining, it usually sucks.

I think when making a movie off of a TV series it is difficult to include all the important event, so they limit themselves. This was a problem when watching Clannad. (Especially the god damn ending)

Sure, do you have an anime list or something you’d like me to add to the OP-list?
but there just isnt any good movies anymore… my favorite is spirited away, and most of Hayao Miyazaki’s works
I like Satoshi Kon movies, like Paprika, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Millennium Actress. They’re very good.
I don’t watch much movies though. The last I watched was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time I think, which was also pretty good.
