Honestly, I think MLP is a fad. I’ve heard a lot of interviews, which imply in my mind that the people don’t genuinely like the show like you, or I might, but are just getting caught up in all the fan content.

I think only a minority are in just for the fan stuff. But that’s still part of it.
And anyway, do you think it would have survived this long and this powerfully if people didn’t genuinely like FiM?
This video shows the enthusiasm that I feel coming from the fandom. And from myself, of course.

It most certainly could survive this long without a single person who actually likes the show, more than any other cartoon. Not to say there aren’t any people like that, just not a majority.

How is this so different?
Because this new forum is wanted by the people that it is for
FGF was wanted by the people who disliked forum games

I sign this to spite the idiots arguing about MLP when the forum isn’t even completely related to that.

Alright, for all of the people who think there will be disastrous consequences if this forum will be made, how can you be so sure that it will happen?
And what would happen if we just gave the forum a month or two trial run to see what’ll happen with it, the end of the world? No. And even if these consequences do happen, it’s not like the forums can never be removed, the Admins can just get rid of it if the forum turns to shit. And it’s not like adding in this forum will kill you, so why are you so hesitant that something bad might happen?

Well it was going to happen eventually.

I’m nearly 100% sure the majority is the people who like the show. If you don’t like the show, how can you like the fan content? The characters, the world, everything is transferred from the show itself to fanon, and although the characters are sometimes altered (like in Cupcakes), I don’t find it plausible that people can like the fan-made content without liking the show.

I’d like that more than the other 2 options but it probably won’t happen.

No, just no.

I’ve liked fan-content when I dislike the original content before, it happened to me once with MLP.

Nothing can live forever (except for God, but I’m not here to have another religous flame war). So if you’re admitting it’s going to die, why do you insist on having an entire forum for a fad?
Why do people fight for things? Why do people live if they are going to die eventually? What about nihilists, who don’t believe in an afterlife? Just because something will die eventually (everything does) doesn’t mean it’s not worth fighting for.
I stopped reading after Nihilists. I just wrote I am not here to start a RFW.
Matt Groening has made it a point to let people know that he is going to keep going with the series until the day he dies
I really hope his children (if he has any) don’t continue it.
You do know that there is an entire (empty) forum that I made that can be filled with only the OT community, right?
And what stops newcraps from flooding this too? A special password only OTers and mods will know..? That could work…

Okay, and is that a bad thing?
You do not see the point that I am trying to make here
I am saying that you cannot use the petition for FGF as an example of when petitions like this worked because it was completely the opposite of this situation

Forums have been made before because many users of other forums wanted this forum made.
And really why are you acting like this will cause World War 3? It’s just a forum, and we can just remove it if after awhile it just withers up and dies.

Since petitions don’t work, I’m not going to sign.
If you want to make a case as to why this forum should be created, make a thread about it (like this), take arguments from both sides, compose a well-detailed paragraph or two about why the forums should be created, prepare for questions and trepidation, and maybe the admins will think about it. This is how the Forum Games got created, and even if there wasn’t already a precedent, it’s a more mature process than “a bunch of people agree wiff me u gotta do this!”

You can sticky it in the new forum as a way to show what you and many other people have accomplished.
…
Okay, it might not go like that, but you could make a general thread for MLP where people talk about the new episodes or as a way to introduce new users.
And the thread itself can me put on display as a sign of what the brony community can accomplish.

That’s exactly why it doesn’t work, because people don’t think it will work and therefor wont sign it.

Alright, do you have any comments as to how I could go about introducing the idea? (Like the title of the thread and how to form the OP.)

Then the mods might think it’s an official thread for ponies and that other pony threads are unacceptable.

Actually, the mods have said before that they don’t make decisions based off of petition threads. You could get the entire UN to sign it, and it wouldn’t make a difference.

This thread is basically the first step, ignoring that it’s a petition. Use it to get ideas for forming your argument. The next step is simply to create a persuasive paper of sorts. I’m sure you’ve written plenty of them in school. It doesn’t need to have a certain length, but you’ll want at least an opening paragraph and thesis statement, and one or two paragraphs framing your points and what people who disagree with you might say and why they’re wrong.
EDIT: This may sound like a lot of work, but the paragraphs only need to be about four sentences each. At max it’d take 15 minutes to write if you start with a clear idea.
