I read some forum post, saying that Catholicism caused the Dark Ages (more-so known as the Medieval Era).
Well, no, it didn’t.
Foreigner countries attacked Rome when it was at its weakest point (400s AD), and Rome collapsed. It only controlled a very small section of the Mediterannean compared to when it was still large and grand.
Because so many countries lost the safety of Rome’s protection, other invaders intruded the countries, sparking many more battles.
The Catholics were just the main religion of citizens living in Europe during the Medieval Era.

Do your research first before you attempt to put down another religion.

And no, I am not a Catholic. In fact, I strongly disagree with the idea of Catholicism and their beliefs.
But just don’t insult them like that.

Did you know that Romans were the most egregious aggressors in the ancient world?
They stole the cultures of the Greeks, and made it their own, and then they decided to steal the culture of the Christians, and made it their own.
All the Romans did was steal cultures through conquest, and make it their own. But through this conquest they spread their religion just like the Muslims have done for close to the past 2 mellenia.
During the Medieval ages the catholic church did create a lot of ignorance through religion, until the age of enlightenment in the 18th century, when we started to move away from blind faith, and decided to question everything, and grow as people.

Yeah, I am with OP here. Why should we give Catholicism shit for starting the dark ages when there is plenty more low hanging fruit to tackle, like the rampant paedophilia?

edit:

Muslims have done for close to the past 2 mellenia.

Fuck, I must have jumped 500 years into the future by accident.

Don’t have to. There are these things called books. Maybe you should try reading one.
Going to stop posting in this line of argumentation here because a mod will start removing our posts for going way off topic to the OP.
Good luck in trolling nothing if you persist.

True the Roman empire collapsed after they adopted Christianity as their official religion.

Christianity is the root of all the world’s problems.

I would like to request a title change:
ITT people who don’t know the difference between Arabian and Muslim would reflect the discussed topic a lot better.

Medieval era? If you mean the feudalism, then yes, you could say it was caused by Rome collapsing and it’s lands being divided between conquerors….

And then they created the Pope and all that catholic bullshit so they would have better control of the peasants on their lands.

You’re right. The oppressive, persecuting, corrupt, fascist power of the time didn’t help undermine and sabotage enlightened thought for centuries to maintain authority. The church forced scientists like Copernicus to hide their findings for the good of the world.

While it can’t be the scape goat for everything that happened before the Renaissance, it was quite the contributor.

Even if the Catholics did use the religion to prevent sientific progress, that does not mean that the religon is still as corupt as it was then.

After the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, literacy started to drop and become more of a church thing.

We owe much of what we know about pre-medieval Europe to Christian monks who copied Roman works.

OP is right.

Little boy, please, atleast he did his research.

This intrigues me, especially since I recently read excerpts of the “Voltaire” book written in the 1950s about the early Europian times.
This reminds me of the three priests who stood against the corrupted Catholic church systems of the time.

Christianity is the root of all the world’s problems.

And Islam is the core of suffering and racism towards those who do not believe what they do.

Contrary, my friend, the catholic church actually was the backing for the educations of many great scholars and researchers of the medieval era. Scientific progress was based off of proving/disproving certain rumors/beliefs.

Oh, and EPR, noone will take your petty insults and insufferable nonsensical gibberish for you have an openly obligatory rule dodging image of a cartoon horse sucking a penile erection!

Please excuse my grammatical mistakes and trickery as my brain has not worked for a while now. :(
