Backpack alarms- good or bad?

I just saw a backpack that has an alarm so someone comes and helps. But there are two reasons this bag is stupid.

One: The alarm does not contact police, and does not have GPS so they can find you, so basicly if noone is around and you pull it, you are still fucked.

Two: The alarm sounds like a car alarm, noone pays attention to car alarms and people try to ignore car alarms. Again, you are still fucked.

So both ways, this bag is useless. Unless the person that needs to help sees you pull the alarm, yeah you are fucked.

Discuss how this idea is good, or it isnt.

Response times for police are usually way over 3-4minutes.
Lets assume they are fast and were near by, 2minutes to get there at the fastest.

You would be gone by then.

People look to see where it’s coming from.
You look into a park and see there is no car there, but you see a girl struggling, you can go help rape her now.
It attracts attention and help in seconds, and you would get help in about 30seconds instead of 2-5minutes.

Which tool am I?

Dark alleys are usually by populated areas though, making a problem cause usually cars are by.

That’s so dumb.
It should at least have a GPS locator, and a stunning object (like a tazer or dazzler) would deploy.
And auto-police contact.

It doesn’t sound like a good idea. You could just yell for help.

In situation one, a person would normally be so mentally scared of getting caught, they would run away.

In situation two, what if you are somewhere cars are far away from being heard, like a school’s commons?

Van is right. Calling for help would probably be a better idea than making car noises with a bag.

It’s a little over-the-top than just bringing minor pepper-spray or even a Black-Egg.

Damnit, the guys who made that backpack should just take them off the market before some kid’s parents buy it thinking it’ll save their kid’s life, when it’s highly likely it won’t.

Put an alarm on a house that doesn’t contact the police or do anything but make a ridiculously loud sound, there is a really really good chance the burglar will run away pissing himself crossing his fingers that the police aren’t coming after him. You know that the police weren’t called, but does he? No. And in that situation the burglar probably doesn’t want to take any chances with it.

Average police respons times are over 8 to 10 minutes. A robber could have broke in, stole a few things, and get a good head start by the time police arrive.

Right. Because putting a landmine in a childs backpack to kill the guy who grabs it TOTALLY won’t kill the child too….
