Accepted with a Scholarship

I got accepted to Marietta College yesterday, and today, I got a letter from them saying that I got a scholarship. Right now, I’m guaranteed $40,000 ($10,000 per year for four years), but if I go to some competition on December 1st, I can win full tuition.

So, OT, have you ever gotten any scholarships?

What kind of competition are they asking you to participate in?

The letter doesn’t tell me anything except the date and how much money I could get. The website says:

By invitation only, the Pioneer Scholars event is a merit scholarship competition. During the competition the student will interact with Marietta faculty and students, as well as other Pioneer Scholars. The competition provides you with an opportunity to increase the value of your merit scholarship.
